Any APRIL SLEEVERS? Let me know your progress !
patsybrown replied to beachblondeee's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I was sleeved on the 22nd of April and have lost 21 pounds. I'm having trouble with my large incision. It continues to break open spilling blood and infection. So I can't walk on my treadmill yet. My surgeon had to reopen it and clean it out today. No shower for 3 days and no walking for 3 weeks. Hell with no meds! -
2 Weeks post op .. how much have you lost?
patsybrown replied to cynthia t's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am still on liquids, broth, ice pops, Protein shakes. I hope to be on purée on Wednesday. I did start with a lower BMI. I was at 35 BMI at 207 pounds. I'm at 190 now. But, I feel a little miserable. I know it will get better... -

I was slightly lactose intolerant prior, but now it is bad. I don't throw up but it makes me have the runs something awful. Yogurt and pudding were to be my strength. Now, I suffer if I eat them. Do you think we could take Lactaid? I bought Lactaid milk, but it sounds gross. I'll talk to my surgeon next Thursday and post results. Good luck!

You will have the tube. I also had a drain and a catheter. I could not do the test the 2nd day. I thought I was going to die. BUT, I didn't. Everyday got better and better! It was all worth it!! Good luck guys!

Surgery yesterday @ 4:45 pm
patsybrown replied to JProx's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The 2nd day you think you are going to die. You are asking yourself silently if you have made a mistake. You can't say it out loud because you made this decision on your own. Elective... BUT, tomorrow, you will feel better. I promise! And the next day and so on. And when that first 10 pounds is gone, you will think "maybe I did make the right decision". Then, 20 pounds! You did the right thing! Use your pump and remember, this is your future! Congratulations! -
I worked 6 hours on Friday (4 days out) and 6 hours today (6 days out). I will go back full time tomorrow. I have no choice though. I'm a contractor and if I don't work, I don't get paid... Enjoy your time off and heal if you can.

I feel like I'm starving 6 days out. Any suggestions? Has anyone self advanced their diet stage? Thanks!

Self-advancement of diet?
patsybrown replied to patsybrown's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hey guys, heck yes, I want to cheat. But, I won't. I did only a week of 2 shakes and dinner. Maybe that wasn't enough. I don't think I could eat anything I shouldn't either. I'm just not ready. You guys rock! Xoxo -
I went to The Beth Israel WLS. Daniel Jones did my surgery but they are all good. They usually go ahead and take out your gallbladder and they will repair any type of hernia situation that they find once they get in there. Mi went for my first visit on March 11 and had my surgery April 22nd (Monday). I feel good. Also The Beth Israel nurses after my surgery were fantastic!! Good Luck!

april 22nd sleevers
patsybrown replied to devonmae's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've read that getting the Protein in is so important because it keeps your energy up. GNC brand has 35mg each. I mix the vanilla with the chocolate and strawberry to cut the taste a little. So, I get 2 down and I feel good with that. Question... Does anyone feel colder than usual?? -
So soothing on my stomach! 5 days out and it's been a life-saver! I'm still moving slow, but no nausea, no real pain and not real uncomfortable. But, I will be extremely glad when I can eat real food! Hang in there! This too will pass...

april 22nd sleevers
patsybrown replied to devonmae's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm April 22 also. I can't drink Slimfast either. Sugar too high! But, you do what you were told and keep up the good work!! -
Hi! You won't be able to take them in a pill form. You will need to get chewable or dissolvable. I don't think you want to crush your vitamins. They will taste really bad... Yuck! I'm 5 days out and am doing really well! Goos luck!

2 days till surgery!
patsybrown replied to devonmae's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Now I'm panicking. My surgery is in the morning. I have to be there at 6:00. But, I had no prep to do. I just can't eat after 12:00. I've been drinking protein shakes for a week, but no clear liquids or bowel prep. What if there is food in my stomach? Yuck?? Any suggestions for the night before? Good luck to all of my fellow April Sleevers!! I'll post a "Post-Op" message! -
Does anyone still drink caffeinated coffee?
