Hubby Doesn't want Wife to work

:omg: YES!!!!! I have always thought of myself as pretty "mainstream Christian" but perhaps I'm not? Nope, I'm not. I think I'm well off the beaten path. Well said, Kare! And here's another thought Christina. He's a Master Electrician. He ought to be able to make a great living, certainly a comfortable one. Maybe he just isn't very business-minded? Great at wiring, not so great at bookkeeping? Maybe he needs a woman like you to help make his business great?
  2. Great novella, Morsaille! Small bills for tipping...forgot about that. I arrived at noon on a Thursday, had my surgery Friday morning, stayed the day and night, and on Sat morning after my baruim swallow, I went straight to the airport to go home. It sounds like things have changed a bit since I was there, but the new hospital and offices are lovely. You'll do great Rett. Good luck! Post when you get home and let us know how it went!

    Help...

Barkley, each doc has their own post-op diet, but there is a Food Stages Thread in the Food Forum here on LBT. Click on the Food Forum and it's at the top of the list. It has lots of good suggestions for each of the food stages, depending on where your doc has you. Some of you other folks might benefit from that thread too? Hope it helps.

    gurgles and more gurgles!!

Me, too! It's not all the time, but daily, for months now. I have a "rumbly in my tumbly"...isn't that a Winnie the Pooh thing? Anyhow, sometimes it makes me worry there's a problem. I imagine my band is eroding. I don't know, but it's time to think about an endoscope? I don't think you can have too much roughage though. Surely 2 salads a day isn't a problem? Do you have alot of gas? I do lots more "farting" then I used to (pre-band) and I feel like I need to sip some of that Super Dieters Tea and get cleaned out. Anyway. I'm rumbly, too. Is this normal? Anyone else?
  5. It's been over a year since I was there, but Miguel picks you up at the airport (you are flying in?) in a BeLiteWeight van. The last one was red. Not sure what color it is now? They talked of getting a new van so I'm pretty sure they have by now. No walking into TJ when with Miguel. He wore black slacks and a white shirt, too. Don't worry, you'll know. No heating pad, but I did take a flat pillow for the ride and flight home. It protects your tummy and gives your arms something to rest on. Slip on shoes, no ties...bending over is slow and uncomfortable. I got a hot tea at the airport. No need for Snacks post-surgery. I rested in the room that afternoon, and had dinner at the hotel, then a Margarita in the bar that night. Nothing to eat or drink after midnight but I was in bed by then. Hotel staff speaks English (at least one at the front desk) and wake up call was in English. My sister went with me and her Nextel worked in TJ so we were able to radio home to North Carolina no prob. I'd imagine a Sprint cell phone service would work? The hotel rooms had phones. Very Holiday Inn with lots of marble. There are corner mini-marts with bottled Water and packaged snacks. You are gonna be fine! Congrats!!!!

    NC June Chat

That's what's totally odd. She gave NO supervision with her own children! They did as they pleased with very little input from her. She spoiled her son rotten. Her daughters turned out great, but her daughter now just rolls her eyes when she worries about Tyler! She (Mrs. Lady) was a single Mom for many years. Her husband was injured in WWII and lived for 10 years after he got back. She took care of him and worked as a Nurse and saw anything and everything. I can't tell you the stories I have heard about kids swallowing spoons and money and falling off swings, getting hit by the school bus, busting open their heads, dying in her arms. Very dramatic. So it's odd that with her own children, she was pretty hands off on rules, etc. Isn't that just wierd? When you have lived as long as her, though, I suppose you can be excused of many many things. I have lots of respect for her in many ways. The Tyler factor just doesn't make sense. Oh well. :guess

Okay, so "Fired" sounds worse than it really is...LOL Me and Tyler went to Mrs. Lady's house 3 days a week for a few hours to make lunch and visit. Mrs. Lady is 84 and had finally had enough of a 3 year old in her space. I saw it coming. He just got her nerves all out of whack, which they are anyway, so we are taking a break. The son-in-law called me Tuesday morning and said "she's a mess and doesn't want you to come" and I confessed that Monday was difficult, so I'm not surprised. Maybe in the Fall when Tyler is in pre-school I can come back a few days a week. Mrs. lady loves me, she just can't take Tyler. She worries about EVERYTHING!!!!!! If he sits on my lap and leans back and turns upside-down, it's very dangerous because he could dislodge internal organs. If he hits his head on the hardwood floors, the floors are so hard he could get a brain injury. He might fall down the steps and there's (gasp!) concrete down there. He shouldn't touch the cat because if it bites him he could get an infected wound. And don't let the dog lick him (like I can keep a little dog off his sticky face!) because dogs' mouths are full of germs. OMG!!!!!!! The kid can't MOVE! She's fine if he's sitting in front of the TV not saying a word. He just can't really do that for 2 1/2 hours at a time. So, I guess I wasn't really "fired" as much as given a leave of absence. I needed this break, too, so it's all good. Mrs. Lady can stay by herself for a few hours at a time now, but she's at risk of calling 911 for SOMETHING if left for more than that. The son-in-law works from home alot though, and the daughter teaches school and will be out for the summer in a few weeks. She'll be fine. Don't panic, gang...it wasn't really a "real" job anyway! LOL It's frustrating for me to know she thinks my kid is a terror and I'm a horrible mother. I know she thinks this, and I know it isn't true, but it makes it hard to be with her when she won't stop worrying. So, it's done! whew! I was going to have to leave it anyway for the summer so she made it really easy. Maybe in the fall I can go back. I hope. Mrs. Lady is loads of fun to be around when she isn't miserable about my son. LOL So, that's the story. Gotta go feed the kid now, so he doesn't get a lowered immunity to all the evil things in the air and on surfaces that will surely kill him within 24 hours due to my neglect. :faint:

    grundies in a bundle NSV

grundies in a bundle=panties in a wad. I had to re-read the whole first post to make sense of it! ROFL! I totally understand the bow, now. Go figure! and whoda thunk it! I used to buy $30+ bras but they quit making the ones I like without the underwire, so I had to find another style. So I get mine at Target now, Just My Size, $12 or something. And they fit! Wow! Nothing cheap about knotting a bow into your bra...sounds cute! LOL

Hubby Doesn't want Wife to work

Red Flags, IMO. Really. If he wants you to work and keep up the home and kids, you two don't have the same priorities. Tell him to make the "future" happen now. Get stable, get responsible, have some financial disicpline, take you out to dinner in a manner you deserve, and then you'll talk about it. He may be very handy, but if he's pawning off his responsibilities, move on. He needs to be with someone who appreciates his skills, accepts his weaknesses, likes to work outside the home, and will work with him. If that isn't you, you aren't being fair to him either. Please don't try to make him fit into your dreams if he doesn't. Listen, I get what you are saying about staying at home, and what Leatha said about the "helper role". That's totally my perspective (and my husband's) so it's important that the two of you are in agreement about that. You know if he's a square peg you are trying to fit into a round hole. Maybe he's someone else's round peg? Search your heart and pray! Some good ole scripture reading is in order, as well, me thinks. (((hugs)))

    Do Not Feed The TROLLS

I knew this verse was in there somewhere, and I finally found it. No doubt this thread will need to be bumped again someday, so here's my 2 cents. Proverbs 29:9 (ESV) "If a wise man has an argument with a fool, the fool only rages and laughs, and there is no quiet."

Karen, over on the support forum, I have a thread called "Kathy's Slow Loser NSV thread" where I posted this pic and Jan's lunch pic. Less than 10 pounds loss in my weight, but it's made a world of difference. Go check it out! I have collar bones! LOL Thanks!

It's got your name on it. I'll take good care of it, hand-wash-in-cold water-with-Woolite-and-hang-to-dry kind of care. It's too big now, but they didn't have it in an XL. I can't wear the "other side of Dress Barn" XL, they are too small! Anyway, you are the next owner! Want the trousers that go with? They are 16Ws. They sit just below the waist with a wide waist band. They are surprisingly comfy! Anyhow, you got dibs!
