    New diet i found

I'm not below 180 but I haven't been doing it since Day 1 was not so much of a smash hit with me. I'm going to start over with it though. I'll let you know! Even if I don't follow the diet, the soup is a great way to get the veggies in. It's an easy snack!

    Pain in Sternum area.

http://www.lapbandtalk.com/showthread.php?t=19817 check out this thread. http://www.lapbandtalk.com/showthread.php?t=19399&highlight=PB+cheese and this one. Just to give you some ideas about what may be causing this pain. I'm working under the theory that something is stuck there. OH! I thought of another old thread...hang on... http://www.lapbandtalk.com/showthread.php?t=7410 okay, this one may not be very pertinant, but Nykee did PB pills she took and they were totally intact 7 hours later...maybe I'm grasping at straws...hope some of this helps.

    Pain in Sternum area.

Well, that doesn't help then, huh? I thought you got one, but I guess you were just thinking about whether or not you needed one? I'd say you don't. Doh! I was thinking of you laying in bed last night, and wondering if mineral oil would help. Someone posted a question to Dr. C about having something that looked like a grape come up during a PB. Which made me think of the gal who PB'd a cheese log. Anyhow, all that makes me wonder if you have a wad of something stuck in your pouch. Like a wad of meds? I'd say drink a TBS of mineral oil before attempting to PB it. (that wasn't good advice) but getting whatever is there down or up will surely solve your sternum pain issues. My bet is that you have something in your pouch (meds) that needs to go down. Will your doc do your Upper GI sooner?

AN Injection the day Before Surgery

Your best bet is to take it to the pharmacist and let him/her read it and tell you what it is. Is it B-12? I just can't imagine what the doc would have you be injecting the day before surgery? Yourself?! I'm interested in finding out what it is!

Kim, get an unfill. I wonder if Mineral Oil would help? That stuff is so lubricating...maybe it would help those pills to pass? Stick to liquids. Being too tight ultimately doesn't help weight loss, because you can't eat well and it messes up your metabolism. You need to eat! I have taken mineral oil for the last 2 nights and I'm waiting for it to "move" well. It's alot easier on my band than pills, and I have been having trouble with constipation, too. I'm hoping it really helps. Keep us updated!

    July 15th???

At this point, the 15th or the 22nd are both fine for me! I'm going to see if I can get my first generation digital camera going. I don't know how to use it...and I can't afford a newer, user-friendlier one. I gotta work with what I've got. Now, where's that manual? LOL The summer is flying by folks! Pool party in August!!! Yippeee!!!

Have you all seen this pic of Dianne?!!!! Doesn't she look FAB?!!!! This is her with Eileen (NJChick) taken when Dianne went to NJ. Are you home yet, Dianne? Wavy...looking for your date soon! Jen, you go girl, on your MBA! And, you are already a teacher, you are a Mom! But I know what you mean about life steering you in another direction. And I hope your back feels better soon. Not sure exactly what's been going on, but I hope all is well. Everyone come to lunch next month! 3rd Sat at Ruby Tuesdays? Look for a thread from our fearless group leader, Kim. I had a nice time this past Sat! Staci was there...the one who NEVER posts? She's cool! Anyway, it was fun and we missed you all who weren't there! Plus, we didn't get a pic...no camera. Oh well, we still looked good! LOL
  11. It gets better, and it's worth it! I felt like crap. I was super tight and could hardly get anything in. After 2 weeks and 3 bags of IV fluids at 1 week post-op, I was finally on the mend. Give it a sec. Be nice to yourself. Don't overdo it. Walk and sip and rest. Good luck! Check back in and let us know how you are doing, kay?

Schedule an unfill. Call your doc. Maybe they will move up your Upper GI. If you are too tight, and something is stuck, an unfill will loosen it. Take a sip or two of Sprite? You may have a wad of something stuck? Can you make yourself PB? That's not a very good recommendation, but I can't promise you I wouldn't try it? I don't know, Leener. But I'd unfill, for sure. How much is in your band?

    Personal question for Women only..XXXXX

Mary, I tried to attach a pic of a nipple with Paget's disease. Didn't work. thought it might be worth a Google Search to see if you can compare. I have no idea if it fits you, but it's worth a look, huh? Call your doc!

New Guy wants his Red Meat

Tonight we grilled Ribeyes on the charcaol grill...yummy. I had mine cooked Med (lots of pink, no red) and cut it up into small squares, say, 1/2 in. cubed? and dipped it in sour cream topped with several splashes of Worchestershire. OMGosh. Very yummy. I need the "food lube", and gravy would work fine. Reheated red meat isn't so great for my band. I can do a good soupy pot roast, but not so well if it's reheated. Ground beef is fine when well-chewed, but I find myself spitting out little wads of "unchewable" if I eat a burger, even a really good one. Watch out for baked potato skins. I have to be careful to squish all the potato out and peel away the skin or I'll get stuck on it. Ouch. You will come across the oddest things that your band will tolerate or not tolerate. It's kind of a crap shoot, but you learn and adjust. Losing the weight, however slowly, makes it worth it! Good luck!

    Can you feel your port

I have been able to feel mine from about 1 week post-op, when I "discovered" it...neat! It's small, round, smooth, like a button under my skin at my waistline (just above) on the left side below my ribs. BUT! Get this! Can anyone feel the stem of the port? You know, the part that comes out of the side, that the tubing gets attached to? I SWEAR! and I could be wrong, I can feel the port stem running UP toward my ribcage, like it's tucked between some ab muscle striation, or something. Is this possible? Look at the pic of the abnd and port (I went to Inamed.com to get a better pic) and the port is kind of like a lollipop. Well, the stick is what I can feel under my skin, running upward from the button. It's almost like a hard vein, and there's not a similar anything on the right side, so it's not something anatomical...at least symmetrical, anyway. That's the only thing I can think of...could I have lost enough weight and done enough crunches (not!) to be able to feel the port stem? Anyone? How crazy am I?!

    Anyone with acid reflux

I buy my Aloe Vera at Wal-Mart. It's on the bottom shelf in a gallon container with the Tums and Rolaids and yup, the Prilosec. Prilosec used to be a prescription, now it's available over-the-counter. It's an acid reducer. Get a pill-crusher. Also, the aloe vera comes in a smaller, quart container with berry flavoring. I haven't tried it, but plain aloe vera juice is kind of sharp, so I'll bet the berry flavoring is good. Either is fine. We are crossing each other's paths on your threads LOL See you over there!

    Acid Reflux - golfball feeling

Hey julie, I replied to your other reflux thread, but the golfball comes from eating too much and/or too fast. It's your band telling you to slow down. take smaller bites. Wait longer between bites. Oh...I see, liquids. Take smaller, slower sips. I was amazed at just how small a sip needed to be. Put the liquid in your mouth, and swallow it in 2 or 3 swallows. Let the liquids trickle down...just avoid the golfball. You are tight. It gets better, promise! Just be patient and listen to your new banded tummy. it's talking to you!!!!!!!!

    Anyone with acid reflux

Aloe Vera juice. Sip 2-3 ounces 2-3 times a day. Make sure you get a bedtime dose. It's great for healing. I wish I had known about it post-op. I found out about it at about 2 months post-op, when I had a bout with reflux. It's really soothing. I also took Prilosec twice a day. And I crushed it. It says once a day, and it says don't crush, but I did (per my doc) and it helped alot. Good luck! Reflux is yucky! But a sign you'll have good restriction early on, so hang in there, and TREAT IT! because it can really be damaging, as well as aggravating. Don't take it lightly. Call your doc, too! Keep us posted.

    New diet i found

Diane, I love the soup...I just got shaky, it felt like I just needed to eat. I guess my body is used to more carbs than I gave it that day? That's NOT a good sign! LOL I made the tuna steaks tonight (on the George Forman grill with Honey Teriaki marinade...yummmm) for me and hubby, we had it with soup and it was a great supper! I guess the soup just isn't hearty enough for me to eat only that and fruit? I don't know. Seems like the fruit I had would have kept my blood sugar up. I had cantaloupe, maybe 1 strawberry, apples, mandarin oranges. About a cup and a half over the day. That and coffee and Water with the soup, but by 3 or 4pm? Ugh. I plan to keep a pot cooked. It's so easy to heat up and a great way to get my veggies in. It's a much tastier "veggie" than anything else I could make. I just don't see me following the 7 day plan very easily. I'll try the diet again, though, when I know I can follow it the whole way. Father's Day kind of got in the way, so maybe I'll start again on Monday?
