    Star Jones....leaving "the view"

Here, here!!! I agree. I'm not a huge View fan, mostly because I have young children and if the TV's on, it's on Playhouse Disney, or Nickelodeon...:tired Somehow, some way, by some odd alignment of the stars? I like Rosie. I'm pretty conservative, but she cracks me up! I totally disagree with her point of view on many issues, but she's well-spoken and passionate. I can't see her and Star at the same table, so I'm glad Star is headed out into "soon-to-be-not-so-famous-land". It's always better when Babs is on. It's funny to see the others hold it in and defer to Ms Walters. It's also funny when they get in a winger and make Babs squirm! Anyhow...I'll be watching as best I can. At the very least, it will be interesting!

    Summer Time with Kids

They were playing Wal Mart. Right?!!!!! Let's go shopping!!!!! This morning my little ones took all the cushions off the furniture and stacked them on the floor, covered in a comforter. Then my daughter (age 6) took a stack of paper from the fax machine and made signs and hung them at different stations all around the room..."ice skating here" and "jump off the cusions here" and "one two three four five and six are here" (don't know what that's about?) etc etc. It's apparently different recreation areas all over the living room? Whatever! They had fun and weren't plopped in front of the TV doing NOTHING. Vacation Bible School ended tonight. That was a fun week for them!

    scary stuff

If someone can't eat any veggies or healthy foods, they are too tight. An unfill is definately in order, IMO. Post-op, it may take some folks a bit longer to make the transisiton. With no fill, the band calls the shots. At some point, however, the goal should be to be able to eat enough good healthy foods to stay nourished and lose weight. I agree with Jachut, tighter only means more problems. I don't care for asparagus. So, no biggie there for me, but it is a very fibrous veggie, so I'd imagine it takes some extra effort and careful chewing to add it into a bandster diet. No reason not to try it, though. I'm also very careful with celery. Cooked in Soup and chopped is fine for me, though. Everyone is so different, it's a "wait and see" thing for any food.

    NC June Chat

Karen, take smaller bites...get you a shrimp fork. That helps with slowing down. I'm a big-bite-eater. It's hard. Let us know what happens at the allergist!.

From What Tree Did you Fall?

POPLAR TREE (Uncertainty) -- looks very decorative, talented, not very self-confident, extremely courageous if necessary, needs goodwill and pleasant surroundings, very choosy, often lonely, great animosity, great artistic nature, good organizer, tends to lean toward philosophy, reliable in any situation, takes partnership seriously. Me, too, NJChick! Especially the parts I highlighted.

Anyone see the Big John update story?

Yes! He looks wonderful! He's going to need some plastic surgery to get rid of the extra skin...it's in the way, there's no doubt about it. But, what a change! I can't wait to see this young man grow into maturity with health and vitality. I liked it when he went to his school counselor and said "getting my GED is the first step" to continuing his education. He said it with such confidence and hope. I was so proud of him in that moment! Loved the show. Go Big John!

    I need a new blender!

We used non-crushed ice and overfilled the blender (it isn't huge) and the machine just stopped. Later I plugged it back in and it worked, so we didn't totally burn it up...User Error, for sure. :faint:

    I need a new blender!

Wow, you all are doing great at making smoothies with your MBs! AM I using the wrong kind of ice or something? Those Pina Coladas didn't work so hot. Okay, so we did have the blender attachment pretty full...that's what's wrong. Bulk Mixed Drinks...they'll getcha everytime!! LOL

    Anyone with acid reflux

I ran into the same thing, so I crushed it anyway. AND I took it twice a day. Worked fine, though. I wouldn't recommend that for longer term use. I took it that way for 3-4 days. (I just re-read this whole thread and have said the same thing 80 different ways...okay, not 80, but you got the idea...just ignore me at this point! :heh: The melting Prevacid is PERFECT! Good for you.

Bandster Hell- I can't take it!!!

Hang in there till you get your fill. Be sure to eat Hard protiens first, as many ounces as needed to keep hunger at bay (4-6?) then loads of veggies. Only the best foods! If you are giving your body the proper nutrition, not lots of carbs and sugars, it will help keep your weight in check till you get filled. It's sooooo much easier to "eat to lose" when you are properly filled, but until then, choose wisely and drink your water! Good luck!

    Help i'm scared now.

Gaynor, excellent weight loss! I'd LOVE to see pics! When you get an unfill, will you have it done under flouro? The doc can see the position of the band and the shape of the pouch and see if a slip has occurred. Keep us posted. Also, lots of factors can contribute to sudden restriction, including stress, flying, temporary reflux, that time of the month...you know the drill. Have you been super-busy and stressed? Can't wait for an update! Good luck!

Some times u feel Like a Fill sometimes you dont.

IMO, you don't need a fill. Perhaps a tiny unfill, even, would be in order. You will choose MUCH better foods when you can eat a higher protien diet that includes fresh chicken and lean meats. If you can't eat moist, tender, lubed chicken, then you may be too tight. Kathy...check out lapbandtransformation.com. There's a checklist there for "do I need a fill or not?" that's very handy. Makes you really think about your eating before you off and get filled. I ate 1700 calories the other day. OMGosh!!!! I packed it in from dinner on...I'm thinking I need a small fill. I ate an entire hanburger...minus the well-chewed wad of unswallowable I always generate when eating ground beef.

    Anyone with acid reflux

(bolding mine) I had something very similar to what you described and I treated it with Prilosec (crushed) twice a day for a few days, and I drank Aloe Vera Juice (available at Wal-Mart and you local drug stores) about 2-3 ounces 2-3 times a day, then just at bedtime for a week and it got much much better. Reflux? I guess...but that's what worked for me.

    Is this normal?

Your food intake is super low these days. Take it easy, and slow down. Drink an extra protien shake a day, if you can, or get you some Egg Drop Soup (yummmm) at the Chinese Take-out. I felt tons better when I drank that. You need hydraton and nutrition, as best you can. What you did was normal...but keep an eye out. If it feels worse than just "odd" or if it feels like something is "wrong" (you know the difference) then call your doc! Keep us posted!!!!

    Changing Fill Doctor?

Yes, apparently Dr Kuri does fills a tad differently now. I think they are all done at the hospital where he now does his surgeries. Check out his website for fills info. I don't rememeber if Kuri is your doc...but I'm pretty sure he and Dr Espinosa? tag teams the fills. I don't know if any of that helps, but here's the website for Kuri... www.beliteweight.com
  24. Hang on MrD. Some of our guys will check in soon and you'll get good feedback. Jack comes to mind off the bat, but there are others! And plenty of bandsters in your neck of the woods, too. Good luck! And do like 3Loves says...read, read, read! Welcome to LBT!
  25. Mel...looks like rice might be the factor here? Just a few bites of it and you are DONE! Yes, cutting the carbs is absolutely helpful...but many folks have trouble with rice. And while you don't appear to have trouble with it, you eat it, and you are stuffed! Work this little piece of info to your advantage, girl! I find that if I cut back on my food, I'm simply not as hungry. I have no idea how the band fits into this scenario, but the more I eat the more I want the more I CAN eat. Once my intake is reasonable for weight loss, I'm less hungry. The only thing I can figure is when I'm paying attention and choosing well, I'm choosing high protien, low carb (NOT "NO" Carb) and my body is better nourished. That's what I think, anyway? YMMV.
