    Favorite Grandparent Memories

I finally came back to this thread...wow, really neat stories you guys! As some of you know, I lost my grandmother last week, and here's a cute story about Nana. She was born in 1912, and was 92 when she died. Seems that back in the day, when she began dating my Dada, she told him she was a few months younger then he was, since it isn't proper for a young lady to date a younger man, and the years rolled by...three daughters...8 grandchildren...and along the way they purchased grave sites and markers, just to be prepared. Well, all these years, the year of birth markers have said 1913 for both of them. My sweet little innocent Nana allowed this! A permanant grave marker with 1913 on it, when she knew darn well she was born in 1912! It wasn't discovered until they were in their 60's and Social Security started sending notices, and Dada found out about her little indiscretion. He very seriously took my mother aside (she's the oldest) and confessed his wife's sin to her, and made her promise not to tell for fear of embarrassing Nana, but he thought she should know. My mom told, of course, and as the years went by after my Dada passed away, doing the math got complicated and we all knew her real age and she didn't argue. At her funeral, there on the marker is 1913, just as sure as she meant it.

    The importance of Water

Yes, but carbonated Water seems to be a problem, there was a thread...it's under food also and called "Can U Feel the Love" by I'll Succeed. There is a carbonation conversation in there, if I'm not mistaken. Hope that helps. Happy researching! just got your edit...in my opinion, and as you can see I'm not banded yet, cranberry juice should be fine, you may need to water it down, especially after first getting banded, and maybe after fills. Keep researching though, I'm no expert yet!

    Outside LBT

What a cool thread! You guys are really interesting! I'm a stay-at-home mom of 2. Outside of LBT and home, I guess I do lots of volunteer work. Church stuff, and I'm a hotline volunteer for the local crisis pregnancy center (more mom stuff) and my mother-in-law is elderly. She is 80, has MS and bad arthritis so she uses a walker and wheelchair. We go out to eat lunch and run errands once a week, and I wash her hair for her once a week and Dr.s appointments, etc. This is hectic with a 2 yr old but it's fun! And I'm happy that I am able to help her. I have a great MIL so no complaints there, she's a sweetie. The biggest volunteer job I have is my friend Sharon (not her real name, since I don't have her permission to post about her) I met Sharon at my former job supervising group homes for adults with developmental disabilities, primarily Mild to Moderate Mental Retardation. She lived in one of the group homes I supervised. Since then, she has moved out and lives in a 2-bedroom condo her parents bought for her. She lives alone and does a great job! So I have kept in touch with her over the last 12 or so years, and have been volunteering helping her budget her money, pay her bills, anything to do with her checkbook. This requires multiple daily phone calls from Sharon, whew! Soemtimes is aggravating and exhausting, but mostly it's just fun. She's a real character...remind me to tell you Sharon stories, and by then I'll have her permission to use her real name. I wish I were crafty, you scrapbookers shame me, my poor kids will only have boxes of loose photos from their childhoods...

    Hiatal Hernia

In the Roberta video the doctor pointed out her hernia, but it didn't look like he repaired it... there is a link to that website on here somewhere to OBGyn.net to Roberta's story. it's not really about hernia's but you might be interested...

NSV - Something Nice Fits Me!!!

I get BBC America but havn't stopped long enough to look for T&S, we usually stop on Barney or The Wiggles, or something like that...kids just take over! I will look for it though. Somehow it seems pointless to try and improve my tastes in lots of things like clothes, hairstyles, make-up, and even TV. Not yet, anyway! But soon... Penni- you will love that halter, very sexy!!! Take a pic and post it!

NSV - Something Nice Fits Me!!!

Black trousers, with boot leg cut and pointy toed boots...I watch too much TLC "What Not To Wear" and have NO fashion sense whatsoever, so you really don't have to listen to me...HA! kick the slim blonde designer outfits butts, girl! I can't wait to feel as good as you do...
  12. Wow! Prayers for a speedy recovery. I think you will not be sorry. You should post before and after pics, and make sure you take good before pics...that's something to do before you go...

    beer drinkers?

Carbonation is definately not recommended, do a search on drinking and alcohol and heck, beer, and see what comes up. Anything that goes through your band quickly and easily and has empty calories is not good for weight loss. I'm not banded yet but I'm sure a occasional beer wouldn't hurt your band, but I think maybe the carbonation is the problem with beer. Good luck! Do lots of info searching here, you'll find anything and everything...this is mostly a good thing though! Ha!

    I want a TT

I'm sure I'm in line right behind you. I already have a flabby belly and overhang and it's gross, I don't expect it to get much better with weight loss. That's a little down the road for me but I'm interested in finding out more, too. I was planning on asking about a TT when I go for Band surgery April 8th. Dr Kuri has a plastic surgeon on staff that does lots of TTs and even does something, a technique, that somehow includes the inner thighs, and I have lots of hang there, too. I'll let you know what I find out...good luck!

    What is the purpose

Definately get the sleep study done, I have heard it's like choking, when you can't breathe and sometimes it wakes you up. You don't feel rested in the morning, and like Nancy said, years of it is harmful to the heart...good explanation. Good luck!

    What is the purpose

Yes, Penni, my dad, sister and brother all have the CPCP machines to wear at night. They were waking themseves up, not knowing it, 50 and 60 times per 2 hours of sleep without the machines. The danger is 1)severe lack of productive sleep-bad for the body and mind and 2)potential heart stopping during sleep due to not breathing well. Someone else may hav more detailed info but that's the gist of it. And the machine pumps pressurized air, they don't have O2 bottles attached or anything. And yes, this is important info for an anesthesiologist to have before surgery. The good news is...many people are able to give up the CPAP machines as they lose weight! Good luck Tinkerbell! It's a worthwhile study to have, kind of a pain but worthwhile.

    What's your favorite 'Food Lube'???

I'm counting on honey mustard dipping sauce for chicken and pork roast. It even makes cold leftover meat yummy, and is great on a sandwich, but I assume the bread will be a bygone by the time I get banded...hmmm, getting hungry, gonna go look for leftover grilled chicken...

    Goodbye

Your'e right, sorry, this thread became a lost cause a few pages back, and I'm sorry Whipple. Maybe this is why he's gone?...I know I'm exhausted of it.

    What is the purpose

Many people who are overweight have sleep apnea, which is what the sleep study is for. Sleep apnea causes your heart to stop or slow down when sleeping because it is so hard to breathe. People die from it! If you have it, it should be considered a co-morbidity, which helps insurance to pay. Plus, they need to know before surgery if you have it.

    Ashamed

Thanks Marie, I have learned alot throughout this, about myself and about others. I also know that being ashamed is good for about a minute and long enough to ask for forgiveness if needed, after that, it's nothing but regret stuck in time. I know we all are moving forward and leaving this behind...thank you.
