    Dancing Banana

Oh that is so cute and funny!!! And you say this is on our list? Hey, I don't even know how to do the old banana...! Let me experiment... Okay, got it, but I didn't find the funky Stayin Alive banana on that list. Very cute!

#1 Worry-Stop Thinking Just DO IT

Christina, when I scheduled my surgery, it was for 7 weeks out and it seemed like a lifetime...now, I am almost 3 weeks away and find myself having to really start with the mental preparing...the doubts, the last surge of research, the excitement, and it will fly by, I'm sure. Just ask Jammin Jamie! What I'm saying is, in the big scheme of things, one little ole month is not that long to wait. It will be worth it to forge ahead with the insurance battle and sit tight than to just pay and hope for reimbursement. Keep us updated on the battle!

    Smallest size in your closet!

I haven't given up a good pair of jeans I wore golfing on my honeymoon. I think they are 14s. They were tight...I weighed 168 on my wedding day. Poor DH hasn't seen it since! I'll have to go look, but I'm pretty sure I have a pair of size 9 jeans from my mid-twenties...I was living in TX and dating a tall dark and handsome cowboy type. He liked my butt in those jeans (remember Rockies, with no back pockets, wear them with Roper boots? All you Texans know about these things, or am I that behind the times...this was the mid-80's) Oh my gosh!!! That was 15 years ago!!!! Where, oh where, has my life gone? I weighed around 120-125. Hmpphh. It will take a tummy tuck and thigh lift to get back, no matter how much weight I lose! I'll be happy in 12's that's for sure!
  6. Hey Christina...how'd it go? Looking for an update. Vinesqueen made it back! Yay! Hope you are recovering well and will check in soon!!

Member of the Banded Gentry (finally)

Yippee! So glad you are back and fine!!! I wondered if your asthma was keeping you...I am very relieved to see you here! Congratulation!!!!
  8. Girl, do your research. I have no opinion good or bad about your Dr but I know others here have seen them. Go up to the top to the search button and type in your Drs name, and also search the threads under cosmetic and reconstructive surgery forum. You will find info. The 1st is approaching fast. Are you prepared for life after banding? Ya know, at 5'9" 245 ain't so bad...I know how you feel though. Invest a little time on the computer, and others will pop up here and give you their feedback. Good Luck!!

Help! I need a voice (or 2) of reason....

Whoa nelly! I hate it when stuff like that happens. I wasted a year and a bunch of money keeping my daughter in day care going to school to learn sign language...yah right...It seemed so sensible at the time and I felt like it was what I was supposed to do. The only thing I do with sign language now is help the kids choirs at church do sign language while singing...which is great but a terribly expensive non-skill. Did I mention I know NO Deaf people... You, on the other hand, do not have all your eggs in one basket. Set yourself up. Take the extra computer class, get it behind you so that the only choice you will HAVE to make is which one when you are accepted to both. You need to get started on something in the fall if you want to get this behind you, and better to go ahead and start the real RN course work 2 hours away than nothing. I say, put yourself in position and go for it! I still don't know how that sign language course work I did will pan out for me. At some point I will need to go back to work and I'm hoping my basic knowledge will be a good resume padding if nothing. I guess what I'm saying is...unless that computer class is a huge time commitment outside of school and is a booger to make an "A", take it and keep your options open.

    Coffee!!!!!!!!

Oh no!...I am devastated!...and doomed!!. I KNEW it!!!! Dad-blast-it! Shoott! And any other non-curse words I can "legally" post. I have purposfully avoided even looking close enough to know for sure, but in my heart, I knew it. I use the vanilla creamer and use 1-2 teaspoons in 4-5 cups a day...I don't need to do the math to know I'm done for. I'm gonna be like princess with the cigarette headache, 'cept mine is caffiene. I'd rather give up the coffee than drink it without the vanilla creamer. And the fat free kind s*cks, and the splenda kind is even worse. Back up and punt...there's GOT to be a solution...going to search the threads. That whatever-latte thingy sounds very yummy!! I can't have one, I'll get hooked and go broke and gain weight...

    Starting the Process

Hey Betty, do a search on Dr Rod (hit search button at the top and type him in, then GO) and you should find lots of info. When you add a question or comment to a thread, it pops back up again and you will get replies... Good luck! Also, go to Lap Band Talk Forum, then scroll all the way down to Florida, and I'll bet you will find folks there who live there AND have seen Dr Rod. Just trying to put you in the best spot for a good response. Have fun!

    No weight loss yet

Four Feet Nine Inches!!!! Forgive me while I freak out for a minute...(jaw on floor) Girl, you are itty bitty! But that explains 110lbs. I'd be anorexic looking at 110, and I'm not even that tall. Okay, you are officially allowed to shoot for 110lbs. (Aren't you relieved? LOL) You will like FitDay.com It's not something I would go to everyday and faithfully enter every morsel...just me, though, but it was very helpful to get a grip on the amount of fats, sugars, carbs and non-real foods that were a part of my diet. Very helpful. Keep us filled in on how you are doing...I'll bet your fill really helps you, and your Dr is the Ren that co-wrote the Lap Band book, right? Ya, you'll be fine.

    Everyone Please Help Me

Norma, I, for one, love your perspective on this board. It's a big dose of reality! I have carefully asked my self these questions as I prepare for Band surgey, and I appreciate so much what you have to say. I will be much more prepared than you say you were, and for that I thank you. I hope your Band journey turns out well despite it all, and thank you. Don't hold back on us, okay? Christina, let us know how your meeting with the producer goes. It could really lead to something else AND tighten your resolve about your Band. You never know where a well-placed hand shake will take you!

    No weight loss yet

You will get there! I worry about the same thing happening to me. Our start weights are about the same, 220 for me, although on a good day I could be as low as 218. But my goal weight is much higher at 140. I am 5"5", how tall are you? It seems the more you have to lose, the quicker it tends to fall off...I think of the folks here who started around 300lbs and dropped 50lbs or so pretty quickly...but in reality, everyone is different! Also, are you eating regular foods now, or mushies still? I went to FitDay.com (?) and put in a regular day's worth of eating and was amazed at the calorie intake I had...hmmm, no wonder I'm so fat! But I get that desperate feeling when I'm not full. That's what the Band will help with. You'll do better after your fill. Keep us posted!

    I might have Mono...

Oh no! Keep us posted...what symptoms do you have? I'm pretty sure fatigue is in there but as for others?...Hey, who have YOU been kissing?!!!

    Smiling faces??????

Some did it becasue of the google spider, remember when all that came up about a month ago? or more...seems peoples profiles were popping up on Google when you type in your screen name. A little eerie, so folks took out their picture avatars. I'm sure there are other reasons, too. But I do like to see all of your pictures!

    North East Winter Weather

Oh my word! What a day! I am counting my blessings to be here in NC. Today is in the 60s, breezy, sunny with clouds. My DH just rescued a blue bird that had fallen down the basketball goal pipe (because the cap was not on it...augghh!) and it rested on the deck, drank some Water DH splashed carefully onto it's beak, then flitted off under the deck to rest, and we have since seen it fly off into the woods behind the house. It's such a pretty day and the blue bird will live... Just think of spring as you take your hot bath and sip your wine (you know, I'm pretty sure you can have wine post-band, whew!) and Thank God for sweet growing children and a young man for a son who impulsively protects his mother (teary-eyed). That is so sweet. You should be proud. Glad you are okay!!! It's just a car...I know it's a pain but it's much more easily replaced that you and your children. You will be able to let it go in no time...
