Kathy's 10 Day Countdown Thread
the best me replied to the best me's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
April 8th, Friday, I leave on Thu the 7th. And the pee pee dancer man avatar is on page 18...good thing I started looking on page 20 and went down, not up. I need pajamas...a gown, I guess. I just thought of this last night when I put on my pajama shorts and top...probably want to get a gown, right? Got the comfy sports bra (I simply cannot go braless, even though I don't care, I'm just not comfortable with the girls swingin around...I have to attempt a bra and will wear that if I can) and I need new slippers for when I get home. I'm leaving these old worn out ones in the trash when I'm done with them in Mexico. I got out my heating pad and it's pretty big, so I won't replace it but I do need to find an 8ft cord to take with. Got my good ole slip on shoes for the airport/plane ride home on Sat. And comfy clothes, too. Can be worn commando-style, if needed, and probably will be needed. I looked for liquid Gas-X but couldn't find...need to check Wal-Mart. Still need to go to the bank next week to get my cashiers check for the balance of my surgery cost. And get a little cash with small bills for tipping, etc. My sister's SO is taking us to and from the airport...need to confirm...and need to buy a MX phone card at Wal-Mart. I only need maybe 30 min of calls so my sister can call home easily without walking to a kiosk/long distance phone store. Need to confirm my sisters Friday afternoon Spa Massage, I got my pedicure and manicure, hair trimmed, eyebrows waxed, and will shave legs and pits Wed and put that on the back burner for a few days after surgery. Hmmm, will journal more later. Right now I'll go catch up the laundry... -

Look, I quoted myself! Just bumping... -
Post #20 on page 2, you are officially listed! Congrats! I saw you post on some other threads, so I know you are doing some good digging around in here...research to the bitter end!!!! You will do great. If you run across someone with Ortiz in their signature, PM them and get some feedback that way. Good luck, next week is coming fast for both of us!!!!!!!!
-
Okay, it's tuesday night and you are having surgery tomorrow 3/23 with Dr Ponce...Eliza's getting her ba-and, Elizas' getting her ba-and (song stolen from vinesqueen, thanks, it's cute) Post as soon as you can and let us know how you are feeling! Happy Banding!!!

I'd say just about nothing is fail-safe. And I agree with Marie, why get the band if you aren't going to work with it? If you research here, you will hear a lot that it's just a tool, you still have to do all the dieting work and sometimes it just ain't easy. You will lose weight faster if you exercise, but I don't suppose you HAVE to, I mean, the Band won't fall out if you don't. But, yes, you have to watch what you eat or you will eat around the band and get plenty of calories that do you no good on weight loss. You can't just get the Band and be done. Fire away with questions...if you are seriously researching, no question too dumb, just do your homework.

angel, I'm 5'5" and 220, BMI of about 37 and I'm going to see Dr Kuri in Mx April 8th. You have a whole list of Band Buddies! Go to post #20 on page 2 of this thread and read the list...April Bandsters coming out of the woodwork!!! Hey, have a great surgery and recovery, keep us posted on how things go, and do plenty of research here...PM me if you like, I'll tell you anything I can to help!

Saudi Arabia?!!!! Wow! Good job on sticking with the band, and giving the dietician "what-for" that's funny! The Swedish Band has been difficult for some of the folks in the US because the Inamed Band is the only one FDA Approved. It's hard to get a local Dr to follow along with a non-FDA Band. There are a few here who have them, and I'm sure they will speak up. You getting it done locally should be no problem. Do a search on "Swedish Band" and see what post come up. Happy researching! I'll add you to the April 2005 Bandsters thread under support. Keep us posted!!

I did a search and couldn't find a good thread on this. If someone knows of one, please bump it and I'll delete this thread and post there... BUT......how did you explain your Band surgery to your children? My children are ages 5 (daughter) and 2 (son), and my daughter thinks I'm going to California to get a belly tuck. ??????? I have obviously not had a good conversation with her and she has certainly been listening. Any advice? Even if your kids aren't, or weren't, the same age, all info is good for researchers. Anyway, though it might be a good topic! I know I could use the info!

This is cheating?!!! Okay, I know what you mean and understand what you are saying, BUT, a little perspective here. If this is cheating, girl, you are gonna do just fine. Don't beat yourself up and don't let it get any worse than that, let it go, move one, etc, etc. Congrats on your band date! Have a great surgery and an even better recovery, be sure to check in with us.

weird LBT time/date stamp behavior
the best me replied to vinesqueen's topic in Website Assistance & Suggestions
I wonder if it has anything to do with the site being down last night? I tried to log on, 1am EST or so and the page wouldn't display... I just assumed there was some site maintenence going on during the least busy time of the week?...and so now this...who knows what Mr Alex does in the wee hours!! I haven't noticed what you are describing, but I'll look for it now...anyone else? -
Uh, yep...it's such a natural thing for me though, I was following it for a sec till you brought me to reality, Princess. Thanks for bursting my bubble. hmmphhh. (lol)

Hey Eliza, feeling fine...getting a little nervous, it's almost time for my countdown...I'm waiting to "feel" it, the getting excited part. Two weeks from yesterday. Oh! And there is a newbie here cco2001 I think is her screen name, and she's getting banded by Kuri on the same day I am, so I will actually be able to meet another Bandster in person, wow! Oh! And her sister is also getting banded that day. I told my sister that and she said "Ohhh, I wish I were, too!" which she doesn't because she has no idea about life with the Band, I'm the one doing all the research! But, if it's for her, I'll go back to Dr. Kuri with her. So, just trying to get my house in order so it's easier to deal with when I return. I have a few things left to purchase, but I did get a haircut, manicure and pedicure last night, woohoo! and tonight I'll be waxing my eyebrows. I also bought a box of hair color, the kind that washes out in 30 days, but I'm nervous...It's Medium Auburn Brown. I might wait until after chuch tomorrow to color, just so I don't show up with this dark red that looks funny...I'll have a week to let it wash out a little before shocking the masses there. So, you spent one night there and the rest of the week in the hotel with your mom, right? How'd your family do with you gone? Hey, and what did you tell your kids about where you were going? Your son, he's young, no problem but your daughter? Mine thinks I'm going to California to have my belly tucked (huh?) so she's been listening but I need to really talk with her more, just not sure how big a deal to make of it, just how much to tell her. Any advice would be great. Take care, rest up, and write back when you can!

Welcome to Bandland!!! Thanks for posting the follow-up...have a great recovery!!
-
Welcome Cindy!! Congrats on your band! For the ticker, just double click on anyones ticker and it takes you to the site. Choose your ticker, then copy the first address (for vbulletins) and paste onto your signature. To paste on your signature, go to User CP, click Edit Signature, put your prompter where you want it and paste...viola! If all of that is a foreign language, go up to the search button at the top of this page, hit ticker or weight ticker and read old posts and see how others have done it. Good Luck! BTW, in a former life, I lived in Carrollton and went to church in Plano at Fellowship Bible Church North. My brother and his family live in Leonard. Woohoo!

Happy Easter everyone!!!

Oh, the girls are so proud now!!! Sling em up there Zoe, they like it high! You are so funny...enjoy that cleavage!! I am the same way with the clothes as I age, a size 14 would never fit me the same as it used to before 2 pregnancies and before turning even 30. The same weight is just distributed differently...ah, aging, but I prefer the wisdom to the tight figure, however curvey! Just get me to 140 and I'll handle the rest with dignity!
