I wouldn't be making it through if not for LBT. My kiddos are 5 and 2, so getting out for meetings is tons of trouble...the 'puter is perfect for me! We'll start a Charlotte bash thread her soon, I'll bet. Judy! Looks like we are forming a group!! Wahoo!! -

SERIOUS ONLY: Giving up junk food.
the best me replied to DeLarla's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Okay Tammy, you and I are neck and neck on the weight. I have been bouncing between 208 and 206 for at least a week. This morning, 207. Beat you to 199? I could live on coffee and Cigs...then I might have an upper respiratory infection! Oh, already have a bit of one of those. Pass the lighter! Okay, I didn't go to exercise class, didn't drink my CIB (went to fix it, had run out and ate Jack's Holy Shredded Wheat instead) and I didn't eat a Lean Cuisine. Instead, I was Starvin' Marvin all evening. I nibbled on peanuts, had refrieds and salsa for dinner, with a fairly large turkey and cheese on toasted whole wheat with lettuce, onion, and pickle. Yummy. SO, I ate way too much but none of it was complete, total, prepared, sugar-laden, utter junk food. It was actual food, unless you count the canned refrieds. Tomorrow is Tuesday? well, well, well!!! -
You deserve a Strawberry Blizzard for dinner. Hope your weekend was lovely. Let us know how it went. ((((((((hugs))))))))

Is it flirty little O's with eyelashes? That's what I assumed, maybe not?

Go you girl. I'm way impressed!!

Yep, a little bit stuck. I have to lift my arms up over my head and stretch up and back. That usually opens up the area enough to make whatever go on down. It's always uncomfortable, and sometimes I slime, too. But it always goes down. That band is there, buddy! But if I swallow too fast and don't chew enough, I get a little bit stuck.

Yes, I heard that about Neosporin and bought Polysporin (recommended instead) and used that at first but I think tubes have gotten moved around from the batrooms to the kitchen drawer to the changing table. I am certain I have, at some point, used Neosporin. hmmm. I had steri strips and not glue and it has turned out fine, whew! I liked the ointment because it kept the scars soft and kept them from itching. I little dab did me. (isn't that a song?)

Hey Gaynor, I called and got myself on a cancellation list. She took my number and I told her I need at least 3 hours notice...we'll see. Even if I don't get in before my appointment, I'll be okay. Let's keep each other posted, ya'll, on how these fills are going!!
-
So, what'd your doc say? Just wonderin' (((hugs))))

SERIOUS ONLY: Giving up junk food.

Okay, just to keep myself accountable on the junk food. So far, coffee for breakfast, 8 ounces of water. Then...I found myself at McDonalds for lunch...WAIT...long story, don't shoot me! So I ordered a salad with grilled chicken. HA! So after a while I'll drink another 8 ounces of water plus sip on Crystal light. I'll have a CIB for pre-dinner before exercise class at 6:30, then a Lean Cuisine when I get home. I'll let you know if I stick to plans. No chips, no ice cream, no junk food. On Monday. When Tuesday comes, we'll talk. This is one day at a time business. NO JUNK FOOD! How's it going everyone? -
Lie like a dog. Just stay on the staight and narrow from now till surgery day. You should be fine. No sneaking, no binging, no desperate last meal, no need! You will eat again, and enjoy it, and be full! Stay the course, follow your liquid diet, it's just a few more days and you will benefit lots from it. You surgery will go more smoothly, you will recover well, AND you will lose weight. No more cheating, you little cheater! See, and now you become a little liar, too? See how this works? Stop this madness! Be good, get your surgery. Let us know how it goes! ((((hugs))))

Questions? Inquiring mind needs to know
the best me replied to sherita's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I agree about the fill being a bit too soon. I am just over 9 weeks out and have not had a fill. I need one! But I sure didn't at 4 weeks. It sounds to me like you are right on track with your eating at 4 weeks. No, never eat anything too dry, no matter what your restriction level! But you should be more comfortable with solid foods than it sounds like you are. I keep pushing my band. This can be bad if it becomes a habit of each meal, but I will occassionally test to see just how much I am able to eat, and what. I ate an entire restaurant omelette filled with grilled chicken (a big one!) on Sunday. Granted, I ate very little dinner that night but I had to see just how much would really go down...it ALL went down! I was more full than I needed to be. I was also able to eat a hot dog, with the bun, the other night. Time for a fill. I pushed it, the band didn't push back quite enough, so it's confirmed that it's fill time. If you are still losing regularly (I keep fighting the same 2 pounds, up, down, up, down, time for a fill) then wait. Getting full on a 1/2 cup of very thick soup sounds about right. Does that get you through to the next meal or small snack? Feeling like you might PB after that last bite sounds like good restriction. Give it a week or two. Give that fill appointment to someone who is desperate for it, like me!! Hey, thanks for asking this, it helped me alot to reply! Doncha love LBT? Let us know what you decide! -
Awright Sallykotz!!!! So glad you made it there and back, and seem to be recovering so nicely! Good for you!!!! So, surgery Thursday, back at work Monday?! WOW! I'm very impressed. You take it easy! Thanks for the update. Sally got her band!!! Wahoooooo!!!

I put a light coating of Neosporin over the steri strips until they fell off, or curled up so bad I carefully removed them. I also had some steri strips leftover from my C-section so I was able to replace the strips on my port incision, which hadn't closed completely. I wouldn't start using the Mederma until all scabs are gone from the incisions, even in the corners. Check the packaging to be sure, but the Mederma shouldn't be put on until the wound is totally closed. I take that to mean no more scabs, even tiny ones? You definately want to keep each incision clean and dry, with a light coat of antibiotic ointment, to keep the itching to a minimum as it heals. That's what I think, check with your doc if you are worried though.
