    Its H O T !!!!!!!

Hot here in NC too! We were at 100 today, heat index 106 or so. My hubby's been working in this mess! He's doing a home remodel and screening in the new porch was on his list today, yuck! He has shade but when it's this hot, well, I know I wouldn't have made it! Funny thing is, now that he's home for the evening, he's freezing in the house! Yesterday I left all the blinds closed and lights off, didn't run the dishwasher or washer/dryer and cooked with the microwave, no stove top or oven! just to keep it cool and save on running the A/C. The kids will go out in the sprinkler for 1/2 hour during the day, otherwise, we just stay home, don't drive, and stay cool! I'm waiting on whatever is headed this way in the way of COOL! We are headed to Myrtle Beach next week so I'm hoping it isn't this bad there! Need to check the forecast. Stay cool everyone! Hey, thanks for the ideas about popcicles for the mail lady and garbage pick-up. OH YEAH! Fireman!! You don't have the luxury of a t-shirt and shorts on your job, huh? All that gear, fires...augghhh!! Thank you for all you do. You are LBT's hunky firefighter!

    Can't stop vomiting....

Hey Wendy...been thinking about you. How did you fare? Did you hear from your doc? It sounds like drinking that Pepto might have done a few things: loosened up whatever was stuck so it came up and soothed your poor stomach. Have you been doing liquids since then? Anyhow, hope you are well, give us the update!!

band sizes - - please explain

My doc said he picks the size once he gets inside and sees your anatomy. Some of the decision lies in how much weight you need to lose, I'm sure, but really it's which band fits your body best. Inamed has 3 sizes of bands, and someone correct me if I'm wrong. They have a 9.75cm and a 10cm band, each with a 4cc saline capacity. Then they have a 10cc "Vanguard" band that is made differently, it has balloons of saline all around, rather than the solid ring of the smaller bands. I'm not sure of the cicumference. I think the website for Inamed (the maker of the only FDA approved band) is www.Inamed.com and surely they have pics there? Good luck! Happy Researching!

    New Habits

Okay gang, I need some inspiration and I know all of you do as well. LBT is such a great place for support, accountability and fresh new thinking. So what new habit is helping you? Is it a habit to add or avoid? Post it here and let us know how it's working. Are you giving up chocolate for a week? Are you adding in a mile on the treadmill 3 days a week for a month? Are you taking a walk everyday after work? Are you refusing to allow chips into your home for 2 weeks? Anything! What is it and how will it help you?

    Leaving in a few hours

Happy Banding Kylie! I'll keep you in my prayers. Can't wait to hear from you when you get home!! Have a safe trip, a great surgery, and a smooth recovery. wooohoooo!!!

    Can't stop vomiting....

Well, if something came up, then maybe you really did have something stuck, BAD! Seems like all that vomiting would get it up and out sooner? I guess it finally worked! Glad you got some rest, some extra blessings, and the stamina to get your work done. Stay away from bacon! And you do know that for at least 24 hours, you should stick to liquids only...don't go chowing down on real food tomorrow after all your banded stomach has been through. If i were you, I'd do 24 hours of liquids, then another day or two at least of soft foods, even mushies. Start over again! You have only been banded a month, take it very very slow and easy. Good luck. Get that work done and feel better! Let us know what the doc says.

Yeee-Haaawwww, ride 'em cowgirl! The relief is amazingly instant, yes? Dont' worry about the details...I know all about it. At least you aren't in a restaurant! Whew! So glad it's over. Welcome to Bandland. Your first, and hopefully last! PB. You deserve a banana. :banana

    April Bandsters where are you?

I can't believe you only have 1.9cc in a large band! Many many people start with a 4cc fill! Heck, I have a 4cc band and my first fill was 2cc, then I got a .4cc unfill. Oh, girl, just you wait! You don't even KNOW how you will feel restricted You are doing great so far, despite it all! Don't miss that next appointment!

    Can't stop vomiting....

Oh my gosh, Wendy. I'm so sorry. Someone help!! What should she do? Call your band doc and have a local 24 hour pharmacy phone number handy. Have him/her call in some Phenergan. I don't know what else you could take OTC without going through your stomach...keep us posted. I'm really sorry!!!

    What am I experiencing?

Try the arms above the head stretch and open up your diphragm, see if that loosens things up. Glad you are home alone. Here's a funny story, it may make you laugh in between slime wipes, LOL! We went out for dinner tonight, me, hubby, our 2 kiddos. I ate a small bite of chicken salad, chewed well, and swallowed. Sure enough, stuck. I sat still for a minute, tried to let it settle on through, then thought, okay, I'll take a small sip of Water, maybe that will help. No. I sat there with water in my mouth that I couldn't swallow. I couldn't talk, the waitress was coming around the corner and I wanted to ask for more hollondaisse (sp?) sauce for my broccoli, I didn't know what to do...I had a mouth full of water and spit I couldnt' swallow, a small, uncomfortable but not terrible stuck feeling in my band and nowhere to run. Rather than waiting until it all passed, not wanting to miss the waitress, I discreetly spit out the water into my napkin...whew! I could talk! I asked for my hollondaisse, and looked down and water/spit had dribbled all down the front of my dark red shirt...EWWWWW! I was so embarrassed!! Anyhow, be happy you are alone!!!

    Can't stop vomiting....

Do you have any phenergan suppositories around? Great for nausea. Call your band doc, definately. The vomiting needs to stop and you can't get an unfill with no fill! This isn't good for your band. It can either cause slippage or you have slipped and this is what is making you vomit. ??? Help me out here people!!

    What am I experiencing?

If it's small enough or melts enough in there it CAN pass. It's so aggravating though, to have something stuck, I just lean over the sink and let 'er rip. One good heave usually does it. It's mostly lots of slime and some food, it's not your regular vomit. I don't know what's worse, to PB or let your stomach sit in turmoil for hours! I prefer to let 'er rip. Stuck is stuck. It either HAS to go down or come back up. People talk about fills kicking in after a week or two. This has happened with you, I guess, but it's also the kind of food you eat. I do okay with toasty sandwich bread, but cheesy potatos, unless they have lots of sauce, will get stuck. Go figure, it's a live and learn thing, but this is something you want to avoid, yes?! YES!!! Are you still sliming? I'm sorry. OH! Stand in the doorway and reach for the top of the door jamb. This stretches me out and seems to help the stuck feeling...try that, lemme know

    April Bandsters where are you?

Anne, here's the Bandster guidlines as posted by Vinesqueen on another thread...I just copied/pasted cuz they are so good! The basic guides are: 1. eat your solid protien fisrt, then your veggies, then your less complex carbs if room, about a cup of food, more or less. 2. chew the heck out of everything 3. Drink about 60ish oz of Water everyday. 4. don't drink with meals, or for 30-60 minutes after meals (it will wash out the food from our pouch so we will be hungry sooner.) 5. avoid caloric beverages 6. excersize! Get active and get moving, get your groove thing on! 7. get enough sleep! I have heard 50-60 grams of protien a day. You may need just one more small fill to get a little better restriction, but first try following these basic rules for a few weeks, and see how it goes. 10 pounds is nothing to sneeze at, you'll get there! Dallasdoll, I'm glad you are hanging in there. I can just feel it, the next fill will be just the ticket and you'll be on here complaining about how long it takes you to eat and how you need to break the habit of eating too fast or you will PB. It will happen! I made it to 199 but have stayed here for about 3 weeks now. I'll be glad when I no longer see 200+ AT ALL on the scale. Right now I go up to 202 or so at night, but I lose my magical 3 pounds in my sleep and every morning I'm 199 point something. It will happen! Don't miss that next fill apointment. You have a 4cc band, right?

    Can't stop vomiting....

No fill yet? Possible slippage? I'd call your doc, you need an unfill quick. Wait for a few more replies to be sure I'm right. Do you have a stomach bug?
  22. the best me

    What am I experiencing?

You sound like you are stuck and sliming. Keep spitting it out. You may need to go ahead and spit up whatever is stuck. Kind of like a small vomit. It's hard to get used to chewing well enough and taking smaller bites, but obvoiusly your band is there and your money isn't wasted! Did you have a fill 2 weeks ago? I see you have been banded for about 2 months. Just wondering what is different? It seems hard to bleieve you were able to eat a footlong sub with a band, let alone a fill. How long did it take you to finish a footlong? More info, we'll get to the bottom of it. As for the sliming, it will stop when whatever is stuck passes on through or comes back up, whichever comes first.

5 days post op - feeling lousy

Not a wimp!!! No no no!!! First it's hot as heck. Now you have virtually no food in your system and you are pooped! Too pooped to party! Slow down and rest. You were only banded 5 days ago! It gets better, I promise!

    The Biggest Wiener!!

You are so funny! Well done! I had to sit up, with the needle in! when I went back for an unfill. Now THAT was weird, ew! Yeah, how's that fill so far?

    New Habits

Here's some practice. I think you are nice and smart. There. Now, say thank you and smile!!! Practice that accepting compliments.. Now, if you will just post your picture, we can ALL tell you how pretty you are!!!! Wouldn't that be wild?! I don't think you should be concerned about non-wicked Snacks. Make a deal to only eat half of what you want. You get your snack, and less of it! Deal! Okay Crystal...I did it! I took the fat pics down, tucked them away (okay, I didn't burn them but I need a reminder of how far I have come!) and I hung up a cute skinny pic of me I like. On the FRONT of the Fridge!! Okay, ya'll got me going now. I'm not hollaring at my kids, I'm dancing and doing a few weights in the mornings, I'm looking at skinny pics now. That's enough for now. But keep posting inspiration folks!
