the best me replied to SeaShape's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Yay you! Welcome to LBT and out of lurkdom! Good to have you here and best wishes on your banding journey. Let us know how your consults go and what you learn at your info session! -
Okay, I think I have a few. I am looking forward to: getting a tummy tuck so I, too, can see the vagina that's down there somewhere and so I can see to shave my bikini area when I put on a real bathing suit, not one with shorts attached! being able to do a handstand against the wall in my living room. There's a perfect spot, right there, just begging to be leaned up against. I actually tried it last night but can't get my big butt up enough to heave my legs, ug, grunt, moan, OH! the pain in my wrists!!!! so I'm looking forward to having less weight and enough strength to be able to do that. Not gymnastics, not even a cartwheel, just a handstand against the wall is all I ask!!

Your concern regarding water at 10 days post-op is NOT weight loss, it's hydration. Keep sipping all day, just as you are, that's great! Stay hydrated so you can heal. Worry later about guzzling and losing weight. Just so you know, I just finished shining my kitchen sink and started moving through the fridge and cabinets looking to graze on a small snack. I stopped long enough to say to myself, I'm not hungry, I'm thirsty!!!! So I grabbed my freshly cleaned pitcher from the drain rack and made a batch of Rasberry Tea Crystal Light, poured a large tumbler with ice and downed half of it standing at the sink. Yummy. I'm suddenly not so hungry! It feels so so good to be able to guzzle tea and water. You'll get there. Heal now, you are doing great!

Confused and undecided about lap band
the best me replied to kat72's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Here's a thread with lots of good posts about lap band vs GP and there are some good links in there, too. http://www.lapbandtalk.com/showthread.php?t=7204&highlight=lap+band+rny Happy researching! I love my band. Just know what you are getting in to if you choose it. You need to be prepared for life on the other side. It IS an adjustment. See my stats below and ask me if it's worth it. Go ahead, ask me if I regret it so far...NO! And I have a good ways to go too. Yo must have caught me on a good day!!! -
You are very welcome!

'Beware" of Mexican Doc Advocates?
the best me replied to cindyh's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
I am sure you will get some PM's on this one. I used Dr Kuri and was concerned at one point about his patient reps. Come to find out, they work for him, not some independent side business with a web site set up to solicit business for a particular doc. Sometimes these places get kickbacks from docs and the surgery prices are different than if you go straight through the docs office. Anyhow, I was pleased to learn that Kuri doesn't work like that and everything is up front. My patient rep was able to get me in touch with Dr Kuri over the weekend a week after my surgery when I needed advice. Very helpful. Good job on turning over all the stones. I don't have info on Haucuz, other than what you have managed to dig up here, but just wanted to say good luck!! -
Yummy! It won't hurt right now to get those extra calories in, so good going! My hubby doesn't like Fuddruckers (?) so I don't get there often. But the burgers are very yummy!!!! I wonder how much of one I could eat? Nah. Too much weight left to lose!

Hungry, Really hungry! Please help!
the best me replied to Lisa Marie C's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
My three favorite words...Egg Drop Soup. Who knew I'd say that? -
Time, very very tiny small barely there sips, patience, and warm. I also found that Propel or Gatorade (not too chilled, or room temp) went down a little better than plain water. I, too, am a sweller. I can't stand that but time does make it better. Go easy, go back to post-surgery drinking. Good luck!

Will I feel well enough to fly 2 days after surgery?
the best me replied to choldren's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Me too. I had the surgery on Friday in TJ, checked out of the hospital on Saturday morning and went straight to the airport in San Diego. I flew home to Charlotte, NC and with the time change, arrived around 9:30pm, I think? Flying was fine. I'm glad my sister was with me since the day is a bit of a blur. I'm guessing the anesthesia and pain meds were still in me a bit and that actually helped. I was definately more uncomfortable on Sunday and was glad I was already home, not traveling. Take a flat pillow or folded thin blanket to rest over your belly. It protects and provides support. Make sure you get a pain med down before you go. I avoided taking one on the plane since I wasn't sure how it would go down (it was a small pill and went down fine at home but I didn't want to risk it away from home). The shoulder pain didn't settle in until I was home, so no problem there. I did chew a few Gas-X on the way home, and sipped Water. It was fine but a traveling companion was the biggest help! Do you have one? I bought my sister's plane ticket and it was worth the extra money to have her there. She was great. Who's your doc? Congrats on your band date! -
Yippeee! You are post-op! Isn't it weird? Congrats and welcome to bandland!!!

HUGE first fill (1.8cc - 9.75 band)- any input helpful!!!
the best me replied to soonergirl's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
First fill was 2.0cc and I was back after the weekend for a .4cc unfill, leaving me at 1.6cc. Your next fill will not be that big, I'd guess so don't panic yet. How's your restriction so far? -
Come on ya'll! The water's fine in Onederland! Well done! Okay, I need to post a couple of NSV's. I think this is my first official NSV post, although I suppose I have been having them fairly regularly...compliments from people, etc etc My shoes are too big. My feet just don't fill them up anymore. My slippers slide off or I sling them off as I walk around in them at home, and my dressier slides are way big, my feet are just swimming in them! Huh. AND my pants are dragging. I guess I just have less butt to keep them pulled up off the ground? My clothing choices these past years have been sloppily big, I'll admit, and so these pants are now under the heels of my too big shoes. They get wet at the hem if it's rainy outside. And not just from splashing, I'm walking on the backs of these things! Wowza! Of all the NSV's to catch my attention...I'm a bit more dumbfounded than excited, but still happy!!
-
I think she did it. Don't know which but something for sure, IMHO.
-
Heh, I'm still working on that one but it IS getting better! That's a great NSV to look forward to! Give us the scoop on the "psycho" eval.
-
Congratulations! What a blessing!!!!!
