Coffee Question.,,
Teachamy replied to DirtyHarriett's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Today I am on tea, with no caffeine, and no headache. I will stay off caffeine until after surgery and then see how long I can manage without it. It's getting up before dawn for work that is my issue, I could learn to live without it otherwise, but man, I am so not a morning person! -
Coffee Question.,,

Did 100% decaf today. Probably a bad choice. Jonesing for the caffeine. -
Coffee Question.,,
Teachamy replied to DirtyHarriett's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
When my surgeon asked me what I will miss after surgery, I immediately blurted out COFFEE! Joe is my constant morning companion, my anti-depressant, my drug. Hell, he even keeps me regular--that thoughtful Joe. You see, my program dictates no coffee, not even decaf., nada until at least 3 months after surgery. They say it is all too acidic. And I think they are more focused on us staying hydrated, and coffee defeats that. I am in mourning. I started with half-caff. today, and plan to work my way down to decaf. by the time my pre-surgery diet begins on Dec. 4th. -
I think the hair loss is due to hormone changes in the body. 4 months after pregnancy, many women lose hair. (I know I did) SO I doubt BMI has any effect on it.

Congratulations and good luck!

Wow. How demeaning! I am sorry you experienced this. She sounds like an unprofessional turd! Since your mom has already taken the time off, I would go ahead and talk to the surgeon. Advocate for your original date and see what happens. Let your surgeon know why it is important to you to keep that date. Even agree to see the turd in the interim if necessary. I know you are stressed and frustrated, but hang in there! I am rooting for ya! Amy

First Meeting With Surgeon In Am
Teachamy replied to JessLS99's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I asked about how they treat nausea, and what type of pain I should expect. Hearing from the surgeon was very helpful. Good luck to you! -
Because my insurance covers my surgery, I never once considered Mexico. I find it comforting to be in my home city, near family, and with bariatric doctors on call 24/7. Does your bariatric center have another therapist you could talk to? What were your issues with her?

Hey everyone! Since the forum has changed its style, I have tried to post on the low BMIers page to no avail. Sorry about that. I am trying to get technical advice, but haven't heard back yet. As far as low BMIs go, my surgeon and my insurance require a 35 with comorbidities, although I know a lot of people find the Mexican surgeons to be a lot more liberal with their requirements.

Help! My family ordered pizza and I'm on pre-op!
Teachamy replied to Kyrie's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My pre-op diet recommends up to 5 Protein shakes per day. Maybe you could check with your surgeon to see if you could get in some more protein? I've been putting myself on a self-imposed/prepare yourself pre-op diet. pizza is always one of the hardest food to avoid while my family enjoys it. It's not merely head hunger, it's nose hunger, and body hunger too. I think you should get out of the house and tell them to recycle the box immediately and febreeze the house before you get home. We're all behind you! You can do this! -
On The Verge Of Mental Collapse
Teachamy replied to MouseOnTheMile's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've had a lobotomy, which is why my BMI is so low. I wouldn't recommend it. :tongue2: This post is exactly why I do not own a scale, and I will not purchase one. I will go to my bariatric center once a week to weigh myself, otherwise I will drive myself insane. If weighing myself at the center makes me crazy, at least I'll have some professionals there to refocus me! -
I've been aproved by therapist to have my surgey.
Teachamy replied to Mrs. Hoffman's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Woo Hoo! Happy for you! -
Agreed. I think it will be easier for me because I am never ever even the slightest bit tempted to eat donuts at work, or cookies,or potluck, etc. No way! It wouldn't be worth the agony. I've been diagnosed now for 6 yrs. It's kinda nice to feel tummy-ache free!

I too have Celiac. I really like the Think Thin Protein bars. There are some delicious and soft ones at GNC too. (Think Thin is an organic product. I got hooked on them at my local health food store, but I recently found them in the health food section of my grocery store too.) I am not sleeved yet, but plan to eat all the recommended foods. Obviously it is necessary to stay away from those ultra-processed, ultra high carb foods that are out there now--no breads, crackers, cereals, pretzels, etc. How can we not lose weight when we break free from those? cottage cheese, yogurt, string cheese, low-fat Cabot cheddar, apple sauce, Protein shakes, and eventually protein bars and nuts will be some of my snack choices

If my husband didn't intervene in my need for all things furry, I'd be right there with you! Only 1 dog and 2 cats right now. (working on just 1 more dog, I swear, just one!) -

Oh, nevermind my last question. I saw on Amazon that the directions read 8-16 oz. per full scoop. Thank you! I will give it a shot! -
Protein drink quandry...advice?
Teachamy replied to Teachamy's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
So if it's 24 g. per full scoop, how much water does one add to a full scoop of Syntax ? -
You sound perfect to me! That's exactly where my NUT wants me at 5 weeks.
-
My doc recommends 1 week off work. I happen to have 2 over the holidays.

Protein drink quandry...advice?
Teachamy replied to Teachamy's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
Ok. The Syntax Fuzzy Navel sounded great until I saw it has 5g of protein (am I right?). Soooo...I'll probably try the Isopure grape and see if I can deal with it. It has 40 g. of protein I believe, so if I can tolerate it, it might be worth the $$. I suppose if it's too sweet for me, I could water it down...
