  1. If you are far away from your goal weight, chances are you have more to lose and may lose more than 1-2 pounds per week, but that's a good estimate. I lost 15 pounds my first 2 weeks, 3 pounds the second 2 weeks. Last week it was 2 pounds. I find it better if I don't weigh everyday. The little up and down fluctuations would make me crazy!
  2. I would have been terrified! Obviously you have changed, m'dear!
  3. I agree with the other postings. Talk to your surgeon. Best of luck!
  4. I would plan on doing no bread for a while, even corn tortillas. As far as Agave nectar, sugar is sugar. I think it has been seen as a healthy alternative to the high fructose corn syrup that is in everything and has been so vilified. But it's still sugar. Have you tried Stevia? It's a non-chemical sweetener. Personally, I don't sweeten tea or coffee. (WHEN I CAN HAVE COFFEE AGAIN. AAARRRGGG.) Avacados rock! And everything else looks good to me!

I love my hoo ha and my hoo ha loves me!

    Jealousy

If you want to feel better, go to a restaurant. Count the number of obese people overeating. You will begin to feel the power you now hold!
  7. Did that topic title entice anyone? My DH is sick of me showing him by brownish/reddish scabs on my stomach. (Odd, huh? He used to think I was sexy!) I am hoping you will indulge me in this conversation since I really am interested. My longish scar has lost some of its scab, while the little ones remain intact. The scar underneath looks pink and looks like it might fade. I guess it doesn't matter because my bikini plans were dashed by stretch marks. LOL! I s'pose there's always laser treatments. Anyway, my question is...did your scars fade? How long did it take? I am one month out tomorrow. Best, Amy
  8. Hooray Mom 2-3! Happy for you! Thanks for the update!

    Wonderful news! Yay!

    They over sedated me!

Glad it's over at least. Hope you can have time to relax and heal!

    Low starting weight

I was 210 when I had surgery. I lost 18 pounds the first month, and I plan to be weighed again this coming Friday. (I refuse to buy a scale!) It is currently week #5 for me, and will be my 3rd weigh in at the center. In terms of success beyond weight loss, my Type I diabetes has improved tremendously! The surgery has lowered an inflammatory response my body had, and I am hopeful this means no more autoimmune conditions. (Half a dozen has been more than enough!) Looking forward to more success! Good luck to you! So glad your insurance is covering surgery #2!

    Chinese food

I am trying to remain grain free for the duration, so I haven't been thinking about any Chinese food, but I have been thinking about Thai. I plan to (someday) get steamed chicken and vegetables with spicy peanut sauce on the side. But we need to be careful here...remember that a lot of Chinese food is fried and laden with sodium. We need to be smart!

    Nutritional Visit Today

They will most likely ask you for a typical diet and explain to you what your diet will be after surgery. Hopefully they will encourage you to set up meal plans before surgery as well and get you started on MyFitnessPal or some other tracking site. If you need to lose weight prior to surgery, they will give you help with that too. And expect to be weighed. (with no judgment at all ) Very easy. Good luck!

What is the day of surgery like?

You will check in. Eventually a nurse will come and escort you to a pre-op area. I was given a johnny and socks and told to undress completely. I got on the bed (with wheels) and was covered by a blanket. They asked some standard medical questions. They applied a nausea patch behind my ear and inserted an IV. I met with the surgeon and the anesthesiologist. They briefly checked me over and answered questions. When it was time to be wheeled into the ER, I was asked if I'd like some medicine in my IV to calm my nerves. I said "YES!" I remember being wheeled down the hall and my husband kissing my forehead. That's the last thing I remember until I woke up. Never even saw the O.R. Try not to be nervous--you will be fine. Definitely take the sedative if you need it.
  19. So thankful for my wonderful guy. We've been married for 12 years this July, together for 16 years. He wants to see me healthy and has been very, very, very supportive. Feeling really sad for those in marital trouble.

    saddened and frustrated

Is this a different scale? Not all scales read the same way. Also, remember, jeans and sweaters weigh a lot! I hope it's something this simple. Please know that you will get over this!

    Head Games

Best of luck on this journey. Glad you have counseling/support available at this difficult time. Sending love your way!
  22. I am so sorry you've had to suffer through these abusive comments! I hope you can get into counseling. No one has the right to treat you this way! You deserve to be cherished!

    gastric sleeve complication

Sorry. This must be so difficult for her and for you! Hopefully the surgeon knows what s/he is doing. Have you been able to get a second opinion?
