If you can recall then please advise!
Teachamy replied to luvelyn2hot's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
i didn't weigh for 2 weeks after surgery. The first time I weighed, I had lost 15 pounds. A, month post-op I lost 3 more pounds. Week 5, I lost 2 pounds, and week 6, I lost 1 pound. I am a slow loser, but I hope I start to see a little more lost per week. I will admit, my pants are falling off though! Every little change is a victory! -

Realistically.....
Teachamy replied to LivingForGod's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I get at least 50, which is the minimum required by my bariatric team. Initially, it was very hard, but it does get easier. -

Parents...did you do anything special for your children while you were away
Teachamy replied to BrandNewBrandy's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
For my 8 and 6 yr. old, I laid out their school clothes for every day I would be gone. This was comforting to them and me, since Daddy has no idea about kindergarten and second grade fashion! Lunch box love notes are good too. (For Dad to hand out.)Good luck! -

You need to check with your surgeon's office/nutritionist. They must have diet information for you. I got a binder! -

I didn't anticipate losing this much weight pre surgery
Teachamy replied to SabrinaLee's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It is my understanding that what the doctor typically sends to insurance is your original weight--the one that qualified you for surgery. I had the same fears--checking with my surgeon put my mind at ease. Good luck! -
No, i didn't but I imagine it could your body's way of dealing with the trauma of the surgery. Have you been hypertensive before? Do they think they may want to treat it with meds?

I recommend posting this on the "veterans" forum. -
I haven't had another sleep study done since my initial. Not sure how many events I had, but I too was diagnosed with obstructive sleep apnea. Can't wait for it to go away! You Lucky Ducky! Good for you!

Getting yelled at for losing "too much"

Ok, I am not being diplomatic here. Your NUT sounds NUTS! It sounds like you're eating exactly what you should be. Congratulations on your loss! -
What to expect in a year?
Teachamy replied to 2feelgood's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Huh? Do you mean 1 year after surgery? It depends on the person, but you will be able to eat more 1 year out. You'll know when enough is enough. -
Thank you curried squash soup for your deliciousness and especially for your FIBER! Glory Glory Hallelujah!
-
I bought a cup of it at our local natural store. I am not usually a squash soup person, but I love curry! I know it had chicken stock, pulled chicken breast, carrots, spinach, and of course the squash and curry seasoning. You can find a lot of good recipes for squash soup online. It was pretty high in carbs, but then again, the fiber made it all worth it!

Yay! Exciting news!

Always worried about something
Teachamy replied to GotItDoneInHarlem's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Don't graze, stick to your plan, no carbonation, no straws. You are all set! I don't know how we know our band is stretched other than being able to eat a lot more food. -
Tomato soup was my good friend for a couple of weeks. I found it much easier to tolerate warm fluids instead of cold. Good luck to you! It will get better.

My deep thought for the day
Teachamy replied to PurpleDiosa's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes, the sleeve definitely helps. But the cheating urges don't disappear--this is as much about your head as your stomach. I once saw someone post on here that they could still eat a large pizza all by themselves, but it would now take them 12 hours instead of one. In addition to learning and loving a new and healthier lifestyle, we all need to prepare ourselves for why we eat the way we do. It is an addiction, and even with the sleeve, I have to be very mindful of everything I do and every emotion I feel. I am definitely a food addict. So I watch for my triggers to keep myself on track. Good luck to you! -
Couple of food and timeframe questions
Teachamy replied to BabySheldon's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I try to focus myself on the fact that the sleeve helps control how much I eat, but I control WHAT I eat. Eventually, the sleeve will loosen, and I don't want to be finding myself at the bottom of a bag of Doritos.
