If you can spare the time, it might help. I know a nap always makes me feel better. But if the pain is severe, or lasts any length of time, I'd check in with your doctor. Feel better!

Sometimes veggies (especially romaine) are too fibrous to be digested well. I know that is true with those who suffer from IBS. Have you eaten salads successfully before this?

Welcome and good luck!

How long until you worked out?
Teachamy replied to wwled's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I really didn't hit a routine until after my 4 week post-op appointments. But you can definitely go for walks! Just don't be surprised if you tire quickly. Good luck! -
Today I am 3 weeks post op - questions on food

Your Protein shakes are probably still your best bet, although yogurt and cottage cheese were always a protein boost for me. I never felt #3, but are you sure it isn't just stomach (below your sternum) spasms? That is all part of the recovery period. As fas as #2, I guess it's different for everyone, but yes, I feel full very quickly. Never really had that experience in my pre-sleeved life. And yes, now that I have no swelling, I do get hungry, especially if I haven't eaten in a few hours. It will get better! Keep fighting the good fight! -
Slippery underwear, check. Slippery pants, check. slippery rings, check. No slippery socks. Yet.

So, should I be 'disappointed', 'flattered' or 'indifferent'?

R there any Dec 2013 sleevers
Teachamy replied to chanelle102's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Another diabetic checking in here! I was sleeved on 12/18, and I think(?) I'm around 25 pounds down. I haven't weighed in this week. I'll probably go next week. (That's 1 way I've found to keep my sanity!) I am usually around 700-800 calories a day, as few carbs as possible. (yogurt, Beans, etc.) No bread or rice or crackers for me. No health benefits--requires too much insulin. I am pretty happy with my diet overall. As far as the weight loss goes, I am trying to base it more on the fit of my clothes and how I look and feel. (And I mean feel literally--I am always touching various body parts. OOH! A hip bone! Hey, is that a clavicle? ) Anyway--we all need to just stick to our plans, track our food and exercise, and relax! We'll all get there in our own time with our own personal challenges. -
I have Anthem BCBS, and it was easy-peasy.

Oddly emotional post op?
Teachamy replied to Ariella's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Me too! I used to love sad movies-can't watch them anymore! It isn't depression, just like the floodgates have been opened! Yes, I think it's hormonal, but for me--all that emotion I used to stuff down with food is coming out now. I guess that's a pretty good thing. -
Thanks Miralax. I think you helped me lose 5 pounds in a matter of minutes! (and it didn't even hurt!)

If you stick to the plan, eat, drink, take your supplements, and stay in touch with your medical professionals, you will be fine. If this person is dying because of lack of food, she has anorexia. The sleeve had nothing to do with it.

So very sorry for the loss of your mom.

Reflections..There are things I can't change and things I can...
Teachamy replied to bigloser2014's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Great plan. Being on this page helps me, and I plan to go to some in-person support groups too. My program offers excellent post-op support, and I will see the psychologist and Nutritionist again in about a month. I am also in regular contact with my Nutritionist via email. I hope all of this will help me in my times of desperation. And I can see my health changing for the better in many ways. As a Type I diabetic (the kind that can't be cured) I have seen my insulin needs drop and my blood sugars become a dream come true! Thank God! If nothing else, this surgery is bringing me closer to a cure than anything ever has. I am forever thankful! -

Sleeping thru the night?
Teachamy replied to bngarza's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Initially, I often slept in the recliner in our living room. It was more comfortable to me, for some reason, and if I woke up I could turn on the TV until I felt sleepy again. It took me a few weeks to go back to my bed for good, and I must admit, I sleep really wonderfully now. -

I really love Wonderslim Tangy Orange protein drink, which tastes like orange juice to me, and I also love their mint hot chocolate. I can't really do shakes of any kind anymore, but you can turn their shakes into pudding, which I don't mind at all. Let me go find the link...

What a pain in the neck! So sorry for you. Glad it's not worse. -
I so love this!!!!

My first week 2 weeks Iost 15 pounds, my second 2 weeks I lost 3 pounds. It was bizarre. I was told by my 3 month mark I will probably lose another 15 or so pounds. We'll see, I guess! It is different for everyone.
