    Self-control!?

Self-control is an overused insult. How dare they say that to you!!! You are so right when you say that this type of food is your drug of choice. I know my drug of choice is anything salty/crunchy, namely chips. Thankfully, that is not typically the type of food that people bring to an office. And good for you for asking your co-worker to limit what she brings in. Ask and ye shall receive, with any luck. Remember, if anyone is saying you are weak or are being judgmental of you, they will soon be intimidated by your amazing weight loss and strength.
  2. Weighing today and feeling nervous. PMS is not my friend! Bloat, bloat, bloat.

  3. You are living proof that stalls are OK! It's also good to see your diet to know I am not too far off the mark. Really happy for you! What success! Enjoy!

    Surgery March 7,2014 !

My first few days after surgery were tough. I was exhausted and nauseous beyond belief. Even sipping Water made me gag. But every day got better and better. I had 3 weeks aways from work, and I became stronger and stronger with every day back. The longer out you are from surgery, the more nutrients you are able to take in, which helps. That being said, many people feel well immediately after surgery, this is just my experience. I recommend bringing a tooth brush, pajamas/sweats, and chapstick with you to the hospital. Also a computer/smartphone/iPad, if you can't be without one! I spent a lot of time watching TV. Best of luck!
  5. I have not had a butt lift, but prior to the surgery I was a chubby chick with a small and slightly rounded butt. I worked for that butt--it had been just a flat space where my legs joined together previous to obtaining the rounded look. It meant working with my trainer who has butt cheeks the size and density of boulders. (I envy her) I did hundreds of lunges and squats with weights and kettlebells. Now, post-surgery, I seem to have lost all my muscle mass in that region. So when I start training again, that will be one of my points of focus. Good luck finding answers!

    This time tomorrow...

It was the same for me as One_More_Time has said. I don't remember being put under, they gave me a sedative in my IV, and the next thing I knew, I was waking up and the surgery was done! All was well. Don't worry about the anesthesia. It is the easiest part!

    Sleeping problems?!

I remember feeling weak and tired all the time for the first 2 weeks, and I napped a lot. At night I had a hard time feeling comfortable in bed, so I fortified my recliner with soft blankets and a heating pad. Then if I couldn't sleep well, I always had late night info-mercials to lull me to a state of semi-consciousness. Hopefully your doc. can give you a little something to take the edge off as you get over the hump.

    8 days after surgery

Try just a tablespoon or 2 at a time. Your main source of protein/calories should still be Protein shakes. You transition by eating very small portions to remind your stomach what it's supposed to do. But you are still healing, so give it another week before you try eating a quarter cup at a time. Best, Amy
  9. If you're using a measuring cup (for cottage cheese, for example) you can find your brand on My Fitness Pal and then estimate the amount .25 of a half cup, for example. That's what I do, although I am up to a half cup these days, no problem. Good luck!
  10. Good luck! I am cheering for you in all areas of your life.

    My Fitness Pal.....Sabatoging me?

I am still at the point where at the end of the day, MFP tells me I am not eating enough calories, but I can understand what you're going through. As an MFP addict, I have a hard time going without it, but I bet it is worth a try for you. On the days my computer is unavailable, I jot down my calories and protein on paper and enter them on MFP later. Maybe just for the heck of it, you could see how that goes. (Paper doesn't tell you what you should be eating! )

    Same weight

Look at Butterbean's signature. Read the article and move on. Your body is experiencing something we all go through! I would also recommend weighing yourself less. I know that sounds counter-productive, but the day to day (hour to hour) act of weighing yourself is often more frustrating than just doing what you need to do and trusting in the process. I weigh once or twice a week.
  13. The over- salivation is the start of the "slimies" for me. (Vomiting saliva/mucous, general grossness) lying down is a good idea when this occurs. It happens to me when I eat too fast or too much. I am at 10 weeks, and these episodes, thankfully, are few and far between!

    How long should it take?

Eat for no more than 30 minutes. At the end of 30 minutes--you are done. The amount you can eat varies from person to person and day to day, but giving yourself no more than 30 minutes prevents grazing. I am 10 weeks out and can never eat more than 1 egg at a time.
  15. Nice post. Put a smile on my face! Happy for you!
  16. Hope all is going well now. It is a very brave decision to make!

Must Have Items for After Surgery

In the hosptial--sweats, toothbrush, chapstick. At home--decaf. tea and popsicles were helpful. Also some Crystal Light--regular Water is hard to take in.

    Disgusted and embarrassed!

You are doing NOTHING wrong. This is what happens to most everyone in the first couple of weeks. It's how your body adjusts to the trauma it has recently experienced. Someone posts this exact question everyday. Keep up the good work and I promise the scale will move!
  21. I was worried about the same thing, but they started giving me my pills after my surgery while I was still in the hospital with no problems, so I was able to take them at home. Synthroid is pretty small. I take one capsule and 4 Synthroid-sized pills at once. You will be fine!

    Driving...Post Operation

I drove a week later--I was on no pain meds.
  23. Thank you Lipstick for hitting the nail on the head and hopefully putting a period at the end of this run-on sentence.
  24. My husband hasn't complained about my snore, snore, stop breathing, snore, snore lately because I have been dutifully wearing my C-Pap like a good little Darth Vader-wanna-be. Just wondering for those of you that have been able to go off the dreaded C-Pap, was your BMI in the obese, overweight, or normal weight stage? I am just wondering when I can ask for them to do another sleep study. Thanks!

    Funny NSV

awww...so cute! I teach a lot of 14 year old boys. You're right--they don't notice much. (14 year old girls on the other-hand miss NOTHING!)
