Is there an eating schedule?
Teachamy replied to BananaBelly2B's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
To be honest, I didn't start eating eggs until the beginning of my 3rd week after surgery. It sounds like you did fine with the tea, but in the morning you might try something softer than an egg. 1/4 of cottage cheese or yogurt would probably work out a lot better. 5 days after surgery, I relied almost totally on Protein shakes. Getting in a quarter cup of food was very difficult. Your stomach is still swollen, so the fact that you got in 4 bites of an egg is impressive, but I can see why you feel over-full. Good luck! -
How do you NOT weigh yourself daily?
Teachamy replied to LynRN's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I never bought a scale for home use. Pre-op, I didn't really want to know and would only weigh at the gym. Now I only weigh once a week or less at my bariatric center. I know myself too well, and I would obsess over the scale if I had one at home. Between weigh-ins, I judge how I am doing on My Fitness Pal and how my clothes are fitting.( I am down a size and think I'll be in size 12's very soon!) -

You look great ! -
I agree with the Gas-X suggestion. And get up and move. If it was a fine broth, you'll be fine.

Gluten free protein
Teachamy replied to LovelyLife's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have celiac disease, along with a handful of other auto-immune disorders. As I am sure you know, lean meat, yogurt and cottage cheese are gluten free, as are many vegetarian options. I used Slim-fast and WonderSlim shakes/drinks for Protein. Quest products are also gluten free and delicious. You'll have no problems! Best, Amy -
Yes, I think you can prepare mentally--and you need to--before surgery. But the day-to-day survival piece isn't really understandable until you live it. I am 3 months out next week, and it has become my life.

I try to re-frame. And pause. Why do I want the food? "Treating myself" can never mean food for me again. I am addicted to food, and that way of thinking is self-destructive. For me a treat means a massage, a manicure, time out with friends, some alone time, or "window shopping" in a catalog or online.

Have any of you noticed you need less carbs. to treat low blood sugars than you used to? I am rebounding all over the place after a low.

help...I can't poop
Teachamy replied to hazeleyes8361's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I need to get in the habit of using Miralax daily. I agree with other posters that it is great in tea. However, I have hit a weird non-pooping phase at 11 1/2 weeks out and am perplexed. Pre-op I was so regular. I do have celiac so last week I resorted to a "celiac cleanse". If you also have celiac, you can probably figure out what I mean by that. I was desperate! -
Working out after being sleeved...
Teachamy replied to Flutterfly19's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I had stopped working out pre-sleeve due to a medical issue, and started again post-sleeve, so I am still building up to my usual level of fitness. If you already do yoga/hot yoga you will be fine. If you have no experience with it, I imagine it will be a challenge, but not impossible. The sleeve has made me feel better when working out. -
Getting enough liquids in?

Just found out my husband is trying to cheat!
Teachamy replied to takingaleap's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
What bothers me most about these types of scenarios are the "other women" involved. What are they thinking? Are they so desperate that they would destroy someone's marriage? Do they really think a man who would leave his wife and children is worth having? Would a woman who would seduce a married man be worth anything? I know we can't control the acts of other people, but as women we need to keep our female friends and family in check. The fantasy is never worth destroying the sanctity of marriage. -
Can & Can'ts of Gastic sleeve
Teachamy replied to Bellasarrah's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
coffee, nuts, and raw fruits and veggies are banned for me until I hit the 3 month mark. The only other things that are completely a no-no are carbonated beverages and drinking through a straw. -
Good luck! I have seen a lot of people have these types of revisions on here with a lot of success.

***FYI on Sleeve***
Teachamy replied to Idahomommy04's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This was a condition of my surgeon's office, not insurance. -
A credit card with very high interest, based on my recollection.

One year later and 125 pounds lighter - with pictures!
Teachamy replied to Tinaatl's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
This is the coolest, hot stuff! Great job. -
My only words consolation are it will get better and better with every passing day. Also, I used a heating pad on my shoulder because the air caused it to ache, and that helped a lot.

Because my husband is an occasional insomniac, total light-sleeper, I enjoy the spring, summer, and fall when he will sleep in our sun-room instead of in bed with me. It makes me much happier since my sleep is not interrupted by his need to wake me at the slightest noise. We have been happily married for nearly 12 years, living together for 16, and I think sleeping apart from him is the best decision we have ever made. I bed down with a little doggie, a cat or 2, and an occasional child, and am happy as a bug in a rug!

You look lovely! Great job!

Sleeve surgery booked for March 14th - lets do this!
Teachamy replied to sapphire2301's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I have kept most of it private from work friends. A few questions about how I am feeling and a few comments about how well I am looking is far better for me than the stigma of WLS among the uninformed. Best of luck to you! You will be so glad you did it! -
Having Trouble Eating
Teachamy replied to LumpySpacePrincess's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I wish I knew how to help you. The stress you must be feeling with every fiber of your being! My only thought is to do what you can to relieve some of the stress, and think of the food as medication you need to survive. Keep whatever you can see as the most palatable on hand and quick to grab--yogurt cups, protein bars, string cheese, anything. You need the calories/protein and the fluids or you'll end up in the E.R., which will only make matters worse. Sending some cyber love your way. Hope it gets better soon! -
Rest as much as possible and drink. You'll be raring to go before you know it! Good luck!
