    DS vs Sleeve

I think you are confusing the lap-band revisions with sleeve revisions. I've seen many people have their lap-band removed in favor of the sleeve. I had a very low BMI with many co-morbidities and was recommended to have the sleeve. Highly recommended!
  2. Do you have a nutritionist to help you? They should not be leaving you high and dry at this early stage!

    Time of the month

Yes, it is normal, both immediately after surgery, and during TOM. Many people retain fluids monthly, so that is why you may see slight stalls during PMS, that should resolve once your period starts.

    First triathalon in the books

You are awesome! Way to go!
  5. You may be dehydrated. Try drinking and make sure you get in as much as possible. Your doc. can also prescribe some anti-nausea meds, or you can call a pharmacist and ask what they suggest for OTC. Good luck!

    Overdoing it....

Something that just occurred to me is that just because sugar and fried foods don't sit well right now, it does not mean they will always be foods that cause discomfort. Now that I am over 3 months out, I know my tolerances have increased--but I choose not to try trigger foods that are unhealthy and the source of my former weight problems. I am not judging you at all, just wanted you to know that the next time you taste taboo tasties, you may find that you feel just fine. The sleeve is not the same as the bypass--it will eventually allow you to eat most of the things that caused problems in your past. Good luck!

    Energy levels

It takes time, which I think is different for all of us. Hopefully things will improve by 6 weeks. Remember to have snacks between meals and get plenty of protein and rest. Best of luck!

    Overdoing it....

It may not only be the type of food, but the quantity. A" little tiny bit" may seem REALLY tiny when compared to what we once ate, but at 1 month out, more than an ounce or 2 was far too much for me. In fact, I still typically eat no more than a half cup of anything. I would recommend carrying a measuring cup in a zip log bag, and throwing a small digital scale in your purse if you must eat out. (Yes, I am totally serious!) My eyes are always bigger than my sleeve, and I never measure it correctly just by sight. But by all means, take it slow, and yes, listen to your nutritionist and medical team. Overdoing it can cause a rupture of your internal incisions--which is extremely dangerous. It will take a few more months to be completely healed.

Have you tried making protein shake popcicles? It's my new thing.

I am fine, RJ, was just a little bored and lonely last night as DH was out of town. Major triggers in my old life, so I had some popsicles and hit the sack and stayed within that dreaded calorie goal! NSV for me!

Breathe, drink, move, and measure. You'll be fine! It's all part of the process.

    Help! Scale not moving

Don't weigh every day. You will drive yourself crazy. I weigh no more than once a week, or once every other week to keep my sanity. That way, I see the scale go down a little every time and don't drive myself to drink over the small daily fluctuations.
  12. Yay! For change! I bet you'll make a great redhead!

    Bowel movement question

Yes, constipation is very common, especially right after surgery. My nutritionist suggested using Miralax until it resolved. Now I use gummy Fiber supplements every day. SInce you are just out of your surgery, I would check with your doc. to see what is recommended.

    Little Black Dress....

Decided to squeeze into those Citizens of Humanity jeans today. I have gotten many compliments! Man I just love this sleeve!

    stared at

Yep, I got lots of looks and comments too. I just took pride in being the thinnest person at the bariatric center pre-op, and the youngest person at the cardiologist! Either way you spin it, we all have challenges to face, so don't let them bug ya.
  17. I had quite the week last week, raging hormones and excessively long work hours. I found myself (head?) hungry all the time and also found myself able to eat more than my sleeve would normally allow. This week has been much, much better. I try to stay in the 700 calorie range every day, but just calculated my calorie average for the last 8 days, and it was 923. YIKES! I think it will be best to weigh myself next week instead of this one in order to keep my head in the game. (I am a once a week maximum weigher.) What are your experiences with stress and PMS? Best, Amy
  18. NSV--I was just called "String bean" by a colleague. I'll take it!

    do you miss?

No, nothing is magically eliminated, but there are options. Instead of a pb &j sandwhich, I have PB2 with an apple. Instead of Pasta, I occasionally have Quest brand pasta. If I want chocolate, a Protein bar. There are healthy alternatives that satisfy me. Everyone is different, so you'll have to see what appeals to you. But just about everything you eat now can make an appearance in your life again. Which is the good and the challenging piece of WLS.

    Going nuts!

Pun intended. At 12 weeks I was told I could have nuts, so I bought about a cup-sized can of almonds. I broke them down into serving sized baggies, 28 almonds per baggy, about 170 calories. I have been having one baggy per day for several days. I know nuts contain healthy fats, Protein, and very few carbs, but I am wondering if the fat content might slow weight loss. Anyone know? Thanks, Amy

    Ignorance regarding weight loss surgery

Thank you, Lyn for being a healthcare practitioner who truly "gets it". Hopefully, word will spread to your colleagues that this is a viable option for so many of us!

    Stalled and Terrified

Onederland is waiting for you! You can get here! Do you use MFP and track everything? Could it be that you are not eating enough given your exercise routine? I say talk to a nutritionist to get yourself over this hump. My thought would be to slow down on the exercise and go back to Protein shakes for a while to see if that might shake your system up a bit. But then again, I am not a nutritionist. You Can Do This!

    Little Black Dress....

Seven For All Mankind and Citizens of Humanity jeans. I can get into the lo-cut Citizens already, but the muffin-top needs to shrink before I feel comfy in them. Can't wait to strut around in them!
