I'd go for flowing fabric patterns that would be easy to take in. And stretchy waist bands!

Is there pain associated with the swelling? (nausea, heart burn, tenderness?) I wouldn't necessarily call liver swelling a good sign, although I get your point. I would recommend calling your doctor. Maybe get some blood work done just to ensure your liver functions are normal? I have been on this site for a long time, and I don't remember ever seeing a post about this. Best of luck! Amy

10 days post op only 4lbs down
Teachamy replied to mizz_sleeved's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
woo hoo! TOTALLY agree with those who posted before me . I have been weighing in once every two and a half weeks lately. Inevitably, I see a loss. That way I don't obsess over day to day/hour to hour fluctuations. -
Almost 1 and 1/2 years out, before and after.

Please Tell Me It Gets Better
Teachamy replied to LaurieC's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You won't live like this forever! It will get better. Breathe. There is a light at the end of the tunnel! -
My skinny little petite mom has informed me not to worry about my saggy boobs. (I told her I may need to hold on to my larger sized pants because I'll need to tuck them into my waistband pretty soon.) She claims they will "firm up" once I start losing weight. The girls don't seem interested in weight training. Believe me, I've tried to convince them. My mom sees me as young. (I am 40) I think she is wrong, wrong, wrong about the reality of this situation. I will probably look into reduction/lift options, because the boobage just isn't cute, and they seem heavier these days. Pendulous, even. Anyone care to shed some light on this subject? Amy

Just follow the plan--you can do this. Stay off the scale--weigh no more than once a week. If you have questions, ask, ask, ask! See you doctor and nutritionist. Keep all appointments. Log all food and drink. You won't fail this time.

Do you miss anything about being Fat? (You're Old Body)

Nope. NOTHING. -
The getting up and getting dizzy issue make me think it is low blood pressure. That happens to me. It could also be low blood sugar. Some people experience hypoglycemia after surgery. It can make you dizzy, shaky, sweaty. (not fun. And I experience it just about every day lately...I am a diabetic working on lowering my meds.) When you feel that way, have a quick snack that includes some carbs. 15 grams should do it. And talk to your doc. if it continues. Your loss is awesome!

I can echo what everyone else has said. My period of sadness/depression lasted on and off for about 3 weeks. When I started feeling better physically, I had moments of belief that I would survive. By about 8 weeks out, I felt great. I was used to the diet, and I was losing weight, which I had wanted for sooo long. Now, 5 months out, I am off 2 horrible meds (heart rate/blood pressure and cholesterol) and I take tiny amounts of insulin as a Type I diabetic. I am looking forward to reaching my WLS goal and continuing to live healthy. Could you consult the therapist you saw pre-op? Or find another? They can give you strategies to get through this. And you can do it! Best of luck!

How my progress compares to the women?
Teachamy replied to milash122's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Just make sure that pain in the chest isn't a heart-related issue. I know you said it was food (and a lot of people describe it that way) but it just freaks me out. I am down 46 pounds and just started buying new clothes. For quite a while I depended on a strong belt. I bought some super-duper expensive jeans at a consignment store a month or so back, but when I wore them on Monday I was told by 3 different people, my jeans were too big. Such a bummer. So I am trying to contain my clothes shopping habit to some extent because I am not done losing yet. Got quite a way to go. Best of luck you you! -

I still have soooo many questions
Teachamy replied to lcoll's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I can help with numbers 3 & 4. First, Vitamins. Have you tried "Complete" gummy multiples for adults? I love them. They have all the minerals as well, hence the "complete" title. I also like gummy Fiber supplements and Viactiv with Calcium and Vitamin D. Yum. Because I like them and they taste like candy, I eat them. Supposedly, they will help with nutrition and hair loss--although that change is largely hormonal I believe. I also take a B complex under my tongue. It tastes like cherry and dissolves. 4. Use My Fitness Pal to track your calories, carbs and Protein. It will help you determine if you need an extra Protein shake or something to keep you going. Even if you can't eat, it is important to get it all in. I'd call your doc. about the pain. Not sure what is causing that, but better to have them check it out. You are doing fabulous in terms of your weight loss. (You've already lost what I hope/plan to lose!) Best of luck. -
They gave you IV fluids in the hospital, so the weight you gained is from those fluids. It happens to everyone. My advice is to only weigh at the doctor, no more than once a week. You'll be a much happier camper that way. Too many people allow the scale to dictate how they are feeling. Good luck and breathe. You won't fail this time!

I hope you will be able to rest a lot on your trip. You will need it. Best of luck!

What are your thoughts regarding Bananas?
Teachamy replied to Butterflyhigh's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I eat them when I feel like it. It is hard for me to finish an entire one though, so I usually split one with my little girl. I don't see the harm. -
I need to vent/psych question
Teachamy replied to ladymare's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I expected to see a therapist once, and she ended up making 3 appts. with me. I didn't mind it because she fit me in once a week for 3 weeks, when it was convenient for me, and she was easy to talk to. I think the key here is to find a good therapist, and then continue to share your true feelings. It is all part of the process. -
DKA--diabetic fun for everyone

No. A week or so after surgery, it ran slightly high. Since then it has been FABULOUS. (Except for the times my pump malfunctions.) -
