I can't have eggs yet on my post-op diet, but yogurt and cottage cheese are high in protein too. So, I've been eating them to help with getting my protein in.
-
Drat...early again! My body has hit the slump in week 2. Still having trouble getting all of my protein and water in...but getting easier w/ the new foods added this week.
-
I was sleeved on June 3rd...I still have the "glue" too. My doc said not to try to remove it, but let it come off naturally (however many showers it takes). Look at it as a protective barrier that you want to keep as long as you can...but not forever.
-
I too have an incision there....I just put a bandaid over it and wore my regular bra no problem.

I ride a 2010 Yamaha V-Star 650 Custom, but unfortunately I'm no help to you because I had surgery less than a week ago. I am interested in seeing how this plays out. Thanks for asking the question!

4th day of post op and liquid stage..
PainInTheGlass replied to abba0604's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
I've been struggling with fluids too...mainly because I was gulping too much and then in pain. Read a wonderful tip on here....try putting it in a toddler's sippy cup...it gives you just the right amount so you can't gulp it down AND it teaches you how much to drink out of a regular cup so you aren't drinking too fast. -
I'm having problems getting all of my fluid in as well. I was having pain with everything that I tried to drink (protein shakes included). My doc prescribed Raglan (aka Metoclopramide) which helps things move thru the body easier. Also, I stumbled on to another post a few days ago that recommended that people like me use a toddler's sippy cup. It gives the right amount of fluids w/o much air. I can sip on that easily!

4th day of pre op and in pain
PainInTheGlass replied to abba0604's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have to assume that you are taking the pain meds that the doc gave you. You might see if there's something else you can take. I don't think it's normal to be in that kind of pain for this long. I had my surgery June 3 and I'm off the pain meds except when I sleep at night. Everyone is different when it comes to pain meds...maybe you need a stronger one or a different one? In any case, I'd contact my surgeon -
TT and thighs at the same time?
PainInTheGlass replied to Lauren4fun's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
My friend had a TT, butt lift, boob job and a couple of rolls of skin/fat removed at the same time. I do not recommend that you go to this extreme as the TT and butt lift made an incision around her entire body. She had trouble getting comfortable any way she tried to lay down. I think the TT and thighs would be ok though. -
Swallowing help
PainInTheGlass replied to Museum-Mama's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was having a similar problem when I drank fluids and shakes. I saw my surgeon for my first post op visit yesterday. I explained the problem and came home with a script for metoclopramide (Raglan) and it seems to help. I was able to get my protein in and 1/2 my water after taking the pill. Call your surgeon (if your post op visit isn't right away) and ask tell them your issue and see if the Raglan would help. Good luck! -
I wasn't nervous more than a couple of times pre-op and like you, I wasn't nervous at all on surgery day. Proves you did your homework and know what to expect--and now you are following your dreams! Hope surgery goes well for you and we'll see you on the loser's bench soon!
-
Everybody is different in their journey. Some lose more / some lose less just like on any diet. Pre-op was difficult for me--3 shakes a day & 1 high Protein / low carb meal. After 2 weeks I felt like I couldn't look at another shake without having some nausea. I was sleeved June 3 and I'm feeling much better today! But I'm also back to drinking the shakes again for protein post-op. 19 lbs down since May 20th

Emotional break down
PainInTheGlass replied to brittersmom's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I went thru a stage in the weeks before surgery and found that if I educated myself on everything I could find on the gastric sleeve, I'd be better prepared for the surgery. Somewhat wrong. I did educate myself but praying sometimes works better than knowledge. I prayed for strength to get me thru this and a sudden calm came over me. The surgery no longer frightened me. -
My best friend has a bypass and since 2002 she has been admitted to the hospital on at least 5 different occasions for a blockage/twisted bowel. The first thing they do is use an NG tube on her to try to open up the blockage. She's had an NG tube all 5 times for the same reason. It puts negative pressure on the blockage and opens the pathway up after a few days.
-
I got mine today at Walgreens for less than $20. In the paperwork my doc gives out, I saw where NG tubes were not allowed. So, I went in search of one today that has a USB computer connection (aka thumb drive on a bracelet). It was easy to use and stores LOTS of info. I put the info about the gastric sleeve and NG tubes in the allergies section where they would be sure to look if I couldn't speak for myself. I also noted that they should call my surgeon's office for more details. (He's listed in a separate section of the info)

What to wear to the hosptial?
PainInTheGlass replied to LittleDooker's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I wore loose fitting yoga pants and a t-shirt. No need to pack additional clothes just wear the same ones back home. I wore the gown while I was in the hospital as there are soooo many things attached to you when you wake up...it just made more sense to wear the gown that was designed to hold the heart monitor. Just be sure you pay attention to the backside of the gown when u start walking the hallways. -
Followed up with the surgeon today. He is pleased with my progress but I need to work harder on trying to get my fluids and protein in. I have had some nausea when I drink so he prescribed another med to take before meals. Seems to be working better. Also, switched to Bariatric Advantage chewy bites calcium citrate...MUCH better!

Congrats!!!

Wow! 3 days post-op is so much better than 2 days post-op!
PainInTheGlass replied to Flup's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I had my surgery June 3 and I was feeling much the same today as your day 2. I went to the doc for my first post-op appointment and explained that I was having trouble with nausea when I eat so he gave me another med to try. Maybe I'll feel amazing tomorrow -
Great suggestion! I've been having trouble getting fluids down...maybe this will help. Thanks!

1 week post now
PainInTheGlass replied to wackiemama's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've had similar results...18 lbs in a little over 2 weeks. I'm happy with this progression also. -
Had my surgery June 3...drove myself to my first post-op appointment today. I'm still sore at the incision sites (especially where the surgeon took out my stomach). Otherwise, doing well. Just need to work harder on getting my fluids and Protein in. I'm doing well on exercise and Vitamins though. You'll do fine, but expect to be sore for a while.
