    Where are the apple shapes?!

Surgery was June 3...so still an apple here. Anxious to see the other replies to your post.
  2. I didn't get the week 3 stall....I got the week 2 stall. I was at 206 for 7 days...gained a couple of pounds back...and then dropped to 204 and two days later to 202. I can still tell that inches are coming off though. Been at 202 for 3 days now, but not freaking out about it. I've found if I don't drink enough water, the scales will stay the same.
  3. Started on mushy foods today--cream of wheat is not my friend! Painful cramping & gas had me doubled over for a few hours. Ugggg

    Snack

I bought a dehydrator and have made my own jerky at home. Turns out pretty good--and you get to control what seasonings you put on it. (Got my dehydrator at Wal-Mart for about $45--takes a while to dehydrate meat--about 4-6 hrs)
  5. I was having a lot of trouble swallowing the first few days after surgery (Mon June 3). My doc prescribed Reglan at my follow-up appointment on Friday. I took the med a couple of times and found that I was able to swallow better within a couple of days. The first week, I lost 10 lbs....the second week nothing (gained a couple back that week even) and then the scales started downward again. I've lost 18 since my first visit to the docs office....and 13 in the 3 weeks since surgery. (My ticker includes the 5 lbs that I kept off from weight watchers for a total of 23 lbs from my highest weight)

    Hydration

I drink a lot of PowerAde Zero (like Gatorade) to stay hydrated. I think I've also eaten my weight in popsicles lately. Even in week 3, I have trouble getting enough fluids / protein. Someone in the chat room suggested Isopure ready made drinks (about $4 a 20 oz bottle at GNC or Vitamin Shoppe). Some people don't like it mainly due to the slick "aftertaste" but it has 40g of protein in it!! and only 160 calories and zero carbs! Because it's a clear liquid, you get to count is as 20 oz of water and 40g of protein. (Note: I am not a spokesperson for this product)

TMI - explosive diarrhea days after surgery?

Same story here. (Sleeved Jun 3) I'm finding that I have episodes when I try to advance my diet before it's time to do so. (ie: eating a week 3 food when still on a week 2 diet) Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. I start week 4 foods on Mon and tried mashed potatoes last night (a few days early) and my body didn't like it. I've told a few of my friends that I've had a "sh*tty day" when I mean that I have had episodes of diarrhea all day (up to 5 times in one day). My doc says Immodium is ok to take (so I'm thinking I might need to buy stock in it!)

    Diabetics after the sleeve

I too was taking Glumetza 500mg a day with an A1C 5.5-6.5 prior to surgery. While in the hospital overnight after surgery, they tested my blood sugar...and it registered normal EVERY time. I had not taken any meds that day and I reported the normal readings to my PCP 5 days later. I told him that I had not taken any Glumetza post-op during those 5 days and he took me off of it entirely. He did leave me on meds for high blood pressure, but I think that will be the next med to go.
  9. 204--scales are moving now! Love it :)

  10. I had my surgery June 3 and I could have went back to work as early as June 7 as I was off pain meds, very active, and able to drink well. I know that I had one of the easiest recoveries and a sit down job too. I actually took 2 weeks off and worried that I wouldn't be healed enough by the end of that time frame. I know everyone is different and I wouldn't base your recovery on my results. Maybe it's possible for you to start by taking a couple of weeks off....and adjust from there? or go on short term disability if you need more time after the two weeks?

@ npwoman2003---two steps forward and one step back is still one step in the right direction!

    Struggling, two weeks post-op

I'm a little over 2 weeks out too and the scale hasn't budged in a while. And when it did, it went UP for 2 days. Mine wasn't due to an ER visit or being pumped full of fluids though. Thankfully I took measurements and I can tell that I'm losing inches...but the scale is another story. Yesterday, I tried to up my fluids and amazingly the scale moved downward! Keep the faith and try to get your fluids and protein in....the setback is temporary and the scales will move downward soon!

Woke up this morning feeling icky...

Sleeved June 3....I have had only a couple of "blegh" days, but mostly good otherwise. I'm not hungry and have to remind myself to eat--but I have strayed from the post op diet on occasion and tried to push my body into next weeks new food group too early. When I've done that, it has resulted in "dumping syndrome" so the next day I immediately get right back on track for this weeks food and I usually feel much better. If you are transitioning from one food group (clear liquids to full liquids for example) and your body isn't handling it well....it's time to go back to the previous food group (clear liquids). Give your body time to heal and try the new food group again in a few days. Your body is trying to adjust to having had the surgery and some adjust quicker than others.

    Not sure whats going on!

It may be difficult to get straight Water down at this stage. I was sleeved June 3 also and I've struggled with getting all of my Protein and water in too. You might want to try a different kind of liquid (broth, Jello, popsicles, etc). I find that sugar-free popsicles go down easy...and you can eat a ton of them with minimal calories (and if your diet allows fudgesicles....you are also getting some protein in them!) From what others have posted, you may need to add something to the water to make it slightly acidic so it goes down easier. There's lots of sugar-free flavorings at the grocery store that you can try (I prefer MIO in orange and lemonade.) Finally, if you don't mind a slick feeling for an "after taste", go to GNC or the Vitamin Shoppe (or online for either of these)...and get some Isopure ready made drinks. They are expensive ($4 a bottle), but they contain 40g of protein per 20 oz bottle but they count as water too! PS...As a fellow June 3 sleever--I'm friending you. Keep in touch and let me know how things are progressing!

    Post op fluid intake?

15 days post-op and I can barely get my fluids and protein in for the day

    WTF? Am I wrong?

Backhanded compliments aren't welcome in my world either! I would not have given him my number in a million years--no matter how cute he was! Good for you for standing up to him

Dating and dealing with the sleeve...

I was talking to a new guy before having been sleeved Jun 3, 2013 and when he asked what I liked to eat, I mentioned a few types of food and followed it by saying that I didn't know what I'd be able to eat soon. His immediate reply was "Lap Band?" to which I said "No" and explained the sleeve. Turns out, he is an LPN that has a Lap Band! He has been very supportive so far and even offering suggestions (when I was having problems with the bariatric Vitamins.) Unlike you, I haven't kept my surgery a secret--I've told all of my close friends and a good portion of my co-workers. I have only encountered a few negative remarks---all of which were pre-op expressing that I should exhaust all other avenues before resorting to surgery. Also, after surgery some of the nay-sayers have joined the bandwagon that cheers me on!
  19. TWO OH SIX...still stuck at 206. Hoping by this time next week, I'll get those scales to move!

  20. Sleeved Jun 3--I can usually manage 3/4 cup of soup before feeling full. I am finding that liquids are much easier to get in now---I am able to drink rather than sip.

    straws

My doc recommends no straw for 6 months post op. Of course on my first venture out of the house, I was served cranberry juice with a straw and totally forgot the "no straw rule" until about 1/2 way thru the drink. I was sipping...but I also started feeling bad / hurting from the extra air. Gasx to the rescue!
  22. Stuck at 206 for almost a week now. Thank God I measured ....I'm still losing inches, but the scale won't budge!

    Unable to get protein

I'm concerned with the blood....definately call your doc!

    Bloated feeling

I'm 10 days out...and bloated still. Losing very little weight also. However, I have been measuring inches and have lost some there.

    Vomiting Air?

If you haven't already, try some gasx.....I drank from a straw (by mistake) the other night and had a lot of air in my stomach from it...Took a couple of gasx, but I was good as new afterwards.
