Search the food section for the ricotta bake recipe. It was very fulfilling in the soft stage. Helps with the mental need for a real meal.

Ordering at restaurants?
lnelson796 replied to tigermom12's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Actually many kids meals are including healthier options these days. I can get roasted chicken, steak, grilled chicken, at most places we go. At our Mexican restaurant I can get a kids meal with one taco and refried beans, then I take all the filling out of the taco and mix it with the beans, and still can't finish the whole thing. Obviously won't work everywhere you go but it's at least worth looking at the kids menu and seeing what your options are. -
Ordering at restaurants?
lnelson796 replied to tigermom12's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have not had any problems with ordering from the kids menu, I don't even have to tell them I had surgery they just say no problem. I've also told the waitress at breakfast that I just can't eat much so can I just ordered an egg and they accomodate me with no questions. -
A goood problem to have...

Mine was a little bit of the opposite. I never really had nice clothes because I felt nothing looked good on me and the options for pretty clothes at my size were so limited. As I started losing I discovered that I could find pretty nice business style clothes at the thrift store. I dress better now in my second hand clothes than I did before and it is such a confidence builder. Getting clothes that actually fit is an important part of the process and allows you to see how much you're progressing. Don't mourn the old clothes embrace the journey and go shopping for new (or new to you) clothes that will show off how hard you're working! -
I started doing yoga at 4 weeks post surgery and about 250 pounds and did just fine. Had to modify occasionally but really had no problems with it.
-
I should add that my friend had the same diet you did, called in and said I'm struggling and was only then allowed the meat.
-
If you just can't seem to get through, talk to your doctor and see if he'll allow a small amount of lean protein. I was allowed three ounces of lean meat a day and it was just what I needed to get through.

Lunges not kings! Not sure how autocorrect came up with that!

I'm started tkd about 4 months before surgery as my fitness plan going forward. I'm got back in class 3 weeks after surgery, modifying where I needed to and skipping sparring and self defense til about 2 months out. I'm four months out now and even participated in a 7 1/2 hour boot camp. I'm do think the tkd is helping with the weight loss and my lower half is becoming more toned than its ever been from all the kicks and king's!

Where does everyone live? Maybe we could figure out what is the most centralized spot among us and then see what we can find. -

Hi Rachiepoo sounds like you're doing great! And it was so nice to meet everyone today. Hope to keep coming and seeing everyone. Oh and I survived my boot camp. May not be able to walk tomorrow but I did it. -
Congratulations! What a win for you. My relationship with my MIL isn't always sunshine and roses either, I'll remember this myself and try to live up to your positive example.

Beautiful! What a transformation!

Kansas City Area Sleevers?

I'm planning to come. Also going to invite a friend of mine who was sleeved over a year ago and her cousin who has been talking about getting the lap band. We're trying to get her informed about the sleeve before she commits to the band. -
On that one I cooked the roast in a crockpot all day with plenty of water to make my broth. I then put the finished broth in a bowl and put in the fridge to cool. Once it's cold, the fat all rises to the surface and hardens so you can just grab a slotted spoon and scoop out the fat. For a chicken I would put the chicken in a large pot and I boil them on top of the stove for 45 minutes to an hour then do the same fridge procedure with the broth. Gladware has 4 oz. containers that are great for pre and post op prep. I out my broth in those containers and put them in the freezer. I also used them to make my own jello up for pre op. Just tastes better than ready made. When that's all you can have you want to at least enjoy what you're eating.

It's definitely the real deal! Sleeved in June, down 70 pounds total, and just amazed at how my life has improved. Best decision ever. It can be a difficult journey, mentally as well as physically, but just embrace the journey and all the things your doctor recommends and you will never look back!
-
I started my pre op with store bought and hated it, made my family a roast a few days before surgery and kept the broth for myself and it was heaven! If I had it to do over again I would have both chicken and beef broth made, frozen in individual servings and ready to pop out and thaw when I wanted them. Was very handy to have the frozen beef broth in the freezer waiting when I got home from surgery.

I've lost weight and now my pants are too......LONG?!?
lnelson796 replied to Yaya's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I do Savers as well. So excited yesterday to buy a black leather jacket for $12! Thrift shops really help my self esteem by letting me wear clothes that fit and look good. Even got a pantsuit for work for $4. -
Have you been taking your vitamins? I feel like that when I've forgotten to take them for a couple of days.

Is losing your pants an NSV? Another lesson from Sleevilla.

Love it! I've noticed my taekwondo pants are getting too big, guess I'd better get new ones before that happens! -
When I was in soft foods I did a lot of lime juice and avocado together as a modified guacamole. Was one of the friendliest items to my tummy and made canned chicken go down so much easier. Not sure how the fiber of the actual lime pulp would affect it, as for me it took a while before I could handle raw fruits. Maybe start by trying some lime juice to satisfy your craving and see how it goes.

I guess I should be more specific that polenta is made from cornmeal, like cornbread is.
