6 months out, is this it?
Barbarah replied to cescelli's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I stopped losing at six months. I was very upset and it took a while to get back on track but I've managed to lose another 10 pounds (yes it took me six months to lose 10 lbs) for a total of 80 lbs the old me would have given up but not the new me. May 14th will be my one year surgerversary I've been through so many stalls that I've lost track. I just see them as time to recalculate, try a different direction. I walked six miles today . One year ago I could barely walk around the block. I try to focus on that instead of the numbers on the scale. Don't be discouraged , you can do this. -

Ten years, wow! It does encourage me. You are so right about people talking no matter what size you are. I felt like an open wound before surgery. Everything hurt my feelings. Since surgery I've gains so much confidence and so proud that I'm finally taking care of myself.

Back to work! But Burping/hiccuping after eating?
Barbarah replied to TheNewSleevedJulie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It's your sign to stop eating. I would get the hiccups and then later a runny nose, both signs for me to stop eating. -
Beautiful!

Barbarah replied to mistysj's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I get food policed all the time. Sometimes I ignore it but sometimes it really gets to me. For example when my sister told me I was eating terribly and that she had just lost 7 lbs without even dieting! Same person who recommended the VSG to me because a friend of hers had been successful with it and then after I had the surgery told me I took the "easy way out". Seriously, do I laugh or cry? -
Yes, I had WLS and YES, I *AM* doing this on my own.
Barbarah replied to LipstickLady's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Thank you for this post. I was feeling a little down because of some negative comments from people around me . There is so much judgement out there . Sometimes I feel like I can't win . Before the surgery I was judged because I was too fat. After the surgery I was judged because I had surgery to lose weight and "Took the easy way out " EASY my butt! Ugh makes me crazy. -

At the car dealership repair shop ... things that make you to hmmmm....
Barbarah replied to LipstickLady's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
The parking garage attendant walks over the my car, opens my door and greets me with "hello beautiful". People actually hold doors, look at me and have normal conversations! All the things people without weight issues or disabilities take for granted. Makes the heart a little lighter. -

Tips for Post-op Energy during recovery?
Barbarah replied to gamergirl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
At my first follow up visit, I complained to my doctor about my lack of energy. He said it was because I was not moving enough ( he kind of scolded me about it). The more you lay around the less energy you will have. I thought I was recovering waiting to get better. Who knew? I started exercising more and , I hate to admit it, but he was right. I felt better right away. I'm 3 months post op now and I find on the days I exercise I feel better and the scale moves too! I hope you feel better soon.
