After a lifetime of being a plus size person, I decided to do something about it. I hesitated for years, because up until 2-3 years ago, I was active and had no issues related to my weight. But, when my weight caused all kinds of issues, I knew I had to act. I am convinced, if I waited another 2 years, I would not be in good enough health to do anything about it. I didn't want to die young, so I made a life altering choice, the best choice I have ever made, and had the Sleeve on 12/26/12. I have absolutely no regrets and wish I had done it 10 years ago.

I have 5 siblings and we all were/are obese. My 2 Sisters had Gastric Bypass about 8 years ago, on the same day. I was scared of Gastric Bypass and, much to my shame, was very critical (not to them, but venting to my husband) of my Sisters for "taking the easy way out". Boy, was I ever wrong!!!! I totally understand, now, why they made the choice to have WLS. I didn't realize they were dying because of health issues, just like I was before I had my surgery. I asked God to forgive me for judging them, because I now know exactly what they went through making this very hard, life changing decision.

My 2 brothers are obese and I worry about them every day. My younger brother has Sleep Apnea, Diabetes, and High Blood Pressure. My older brother has High Blood Pressure, heart issues, and horrible swelling of the legs. I really wish they would take this step to get healthy---I really don't want to lose either of them to obesity.

Obesity is a disease, and I am thankful the Sleeve is helping me fight a good fight toward keeping my disease in check.
