How bad is the nausea?
sknyinside replied to SoCalMomOfFour's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had the scopolamine patch. Some nausea post op. They gave me phenergan. I was doing well until scheduled raglan was pushed IV. I started retching instantly. Zofran given and it went away immediately. Since I received two medications at the same I had before retcing, theyseparated giving levsin and reglan. It was the repeat episode of reglan. Once that was gone, no nausea at all. sent home with Zofran but has been unneeded. -
you could buy deviled ham, deviled roast beef or even chicken. I think they have flavored deviled chiickeln. just a thought

Yay another sleeve with a name....mine is Felipe (female tho). :-) Shelby Haha! Mine is named petite cochon. Little pig. Haven't had any food issues so far. Day after surgery drinking liters of Fluid without trouble. Get 4-5 liters, all my Protein and has loved every new food tried. Plus my mom's pet name for used to be "mon petite cochon" or "my lilttle pig" I was a skinny kid) and it seemed to fit. -
elenaspantry.com is also a great sourced of recipes for different food needs.

I second melatonin. Son takes it recommended by doc. He's 15. Works like a charm. They have pills or even sublingual

im about the same as you. No pain. Just kinda sore right after. Btw I was also the 16th! Have had no problem getting my protein and fluids in. My diet is progressing slower per my docs requirements. Very frustrating. But I'm hanging in. So far amazed at how physically easy it's been.

thank you so much. I am hoping once I have substantial types of food I will stay full longer and really feel the restriction. I am taking a ppi. I am definitely not stuffing myself. In fact I think I would be relieved because so far I am not feeling restricted. I feel I get hungry often. I just don't want to sip my way to too many calories a day. So far I think I'm ok calorie wise but don't want this to be a slippery slope. It took me all day and several servings to eat a 220 calorie can of soup! But just trying to figure it all out.

2 weeks out and gaining all the time!
sknyinside replied to Sabredy12's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
How are your clothes fitting? If they are getting looser, I wouldn't worry about the scale. Fluid will really mess with you. If they are in fact getting tighter, you may need to contact your nutritionist and/or surgeon. Really try to inclrease your Water intake though. You may well see a difference. -
For what it's worth - I have a plan with what to eat, but not amounts. I too, don't feel full. I get hungry - not head hunger - frequently and feel a bit lost as to what I need to be doing to not overeat but don't want to feel hungry all the time. I'm eating small amounts for safety 2-4 ounces depending on what it is. But don't feel particularly satisfied. To be really frustrated, in addition to not feeling satisfied and frequently hungry, I'm not losing weight at less than two weeks out. Had a Protein shake with 130 calories for Breakfast 2 ounces unsweetened Greek yogurt for snack and a Protein Drink for lunch. Will have unsweetened applesauce for snack. Am drinking 3-5 liters of Water a day.

The less fluids you are getting in, the more your body holds on to it. If you are also having high sodium stuff, that will make it more so. What are you eating? Have you tried seeing how many calories you are getting in? You can drink your alories really easily if you aren't careful. -

it can cause you to retain fluid. Water weighs a lot. I can gain and lose 4-5 pounds a day in fluid. It's not fat weight. But two cups of water weighs about a pound. -

Are you eating stuff high in sodium? Could it be fluid? I'm a bit over a week out. I haven't lost the past two days. A little concerned. Be sure you aren't drinking your calories. Easy to do with high fat cream based soups. -
Exercise after surgery
sknyinside replied to sebastina's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am always hungry! Will a ton of walking make me more hungry? Will it hurt if I do liite walking until I can eat something? My doc has me on 3 weeks of liquids. I was feeling hunger pangs post op. Then some kind soul told me it very likely isn't really hunger though it feels exactly like it. They were right. It was acid. I take my antacid on schedule and dilute it with Water when I still feel it. Helps everythime. Hope this helps. -
Have you called your surgeon's office? I know we are all different, but seems maybe some help from them might be needed. My surgeon said if you can't get fluids in for one day due to pain or nausea, call. I'd say that's a pretty good rule to follow. Hope you have great improvement quickly.

Yes, you will. I have many coworkers and friends who have had this surgery. It takes time, but they all say they eat pretty normally. Just smaller portions. One exception is a coworker/friend who can't tolerate soft white bread. Toasted or multigrain is fine. The doughy just isn't digestible for her.
