    Throwing up when constipated?

Oh, ouch! Wonder if the cramping should get better with time? I sure hope so. Fiber would definitely be worth a try. Hope it gets better. Has to be miserable.

    Throwing up when constipated?

Oh okay! Oops. For some reason, I totally missed that. I have no idea why that would happen. If your surgeon doesn't know, I wonder how common it is. Hate to say it, but I would probably google it! Um, one more - if you are having to strain hard to poop, I wonder if that would be the cause for the vomiting?
  4. Congratulations! Like you, this is something I have wanted to do for a long time. I have really been on the fence though. I have tried everything else I know to do. I too, am just starting this journey. My mind is made up now. Yesterday I called a surgeon and am signed up for a seminar. I had to see/have an appointment with the surgeon soon. They are verifying my insurance's requirements in the interim. I am not sure if this is the surgeon I am going to. But it is a good place to start. Good luck! Healthier futures for us both, I hope!

    Sleeved Twice - My Story

That's so scary because one of the reasons I haven't done the surgery "yet", is that if it fails, I feel I have no options left. What a nightmare. I'm glad you didn't give up and it is all going well now. Congratulations!

    Throwing up when constipated?

What's been happening in the past two weeks exactly? Pooping puke? I'm confused. Everybody's normal is different. But twice a week would freak me personally out. But just because that's so different from my schedule/normal. With the smaller stomach and food intake, it could be absolutely ok. But I'd have to ask way too many graphic questions to know for sure. Amount when you go, consistency... you get the idea. Getting to that extreme, puking poop, would be uncommon for a healthy person. It can happen. I've seen it often. It's just not an everyday occurrence! But I also have a lot of oncology patients with GI motility issues from chemo. Or elderly patient's who can't tell people they hurt and can't poop. Most people are going to be so uncomfortable from the constipation, that they will try to fix it before it gets to the extreme point of puking poop. If you are going on a fairly regular basis, I wouldn't get too worried about it. Don't let it rule your thoughts. Just pay attention to the cues your body gives you. This may be too graphic for the board. lol If so, you can PM me.

    Louisiana Sleevers?

Wow! Two days out and doing so well. Great news! Glad it is going so beautifully. I've heard Dr. Bellanger's name a few times now. I contacted a surgeon in Covington yesterday and am going to a seminar April 16th. But I am not yet decided 100% on surgeon. Did you spend the night at the hospital? So glad you're doing so good. Thanks for the information. I may check into him a bit further. Baton Rouge is a bit more than two hours away from me, but worth it for good outcome. Thanks again!

    In hospital need help

Glad you are feeling better. And super glad the leak test was good. I'm hoping I can remember all the words of advice people are giving you if I have tough times! Hopefully tommorrow will be a glad you did it day!
  9. I know this is an old post, but I have a son with Asperger's. Don't know if he will ever leave home. This is one of my major reasons for having surgery. I need to be healthy and be around as long as possible to take care of him.

    Nola Northshore

Hi everyone! I'm just starting on this journey. Still gathering information and looking for a surgeon. It's awesome to see people having such great results. Any information or insight into this whole process is welcome. Checked with my insurance company yesterday. It is covered by them if the criteria is met. Now begins the process of having the documentation of criteria. My doctor (GP) has been working towards the documentation for a while. I've thought about this but never committed so he started documenting in anticipation that I would decide in favor of doing it. Hopefully that will help speed things up. Still have to have another sleep study done. It's been about 8 years since the last time and it was moderate sleep apnea at the time. With my BMI less than 40, I have to have comorbidities. My biggest stumbling block is the surgeon I was planning on going with will not be available and I'm looking for an alternate now. Just wanted to say "Hi"! and this looks like a wonderful and supportive forum.

    In hospital need help

What Beatriz said. Get them to call the MD. They can get you something for nausea and if you need pain meds, can change them. The gas cramping should be able to be alleviated as well. At least reduced. Simethicone maybe? Walking around to help get it moving.? Are you geting fluids IV?

    NAUSEA!

I'm still waiting to get the ball rolling for me to have surgery. I'm sure someone here will chime in with way more experience. But have you been having any bowel movements? Passing gas? Is stuff going in the right direction? Also, what were the two medications for nausea? Zofran, phenergan, reglan, compazine? Even more importantly, are you urinating? How often and what color is your urine? Need to make sure you don't get dehydrated. If you're able to get enough Water down, great.

Congratulations on getting your date. I'm just starting and fear it will be a long wait. At least your husband is being supportive of you. Who is doing your surgery? Was it difficult to get approved? This seems like a very supportive community. I know I'll be pulling for you!

    Throwing up when constipated?

That actually can happen. I'm a nurse and it's way too common. They have a nickname for me at work "Poop Queen" or "Poop Nazi". I cannot stand for my patients to miss more than a day or two of going, because it's so miserable to get blocked up. I've had to disimpact too many people. And yes, if it doesn't come out, and backs up, they will start vomiting poop. Not fun for anyone. Constipation can be very serious! Miralax daily to soften. If you're already in trouble, or can't handle drinking the liquids, Senna S is a laxative and stool softener and can be increased to personal effectiveness. See how I earned my nickname?

    Tesselon Perles

Gave some to a patient this weekend in the hospital. They really don't seem to be terribly effective. Don't know about safety. I'd check with surgeon or GP.

    Louisiana Sleevers?

Yes! I love Dr. Ordoyne. He's the bomb-dot-com! He was rounding a couple of weeks ago and he broke my heart when he told me he wasn't going to be doing surgery anymore. He was the only one I was considering. I know his track record. Oh, and definitely not Lakeview! That's our competition! LOL Gotta be STPH! @bittahoney - I had someone mention Dr. Moore to me just this weekend. Will have to get more info. She seemed very happy with it and her surgery. Was EMS. She also told me about this site. Really good information!

    Louisiana Sleevers?

Hi everyone. First time here. I am looking for a surgeon on the Northshore area. Covington, Mandeville or Slidell. Will go to New Orleans or Baton Rouge if I need to, but would prefer not to go that far. Any and all input appreciated. The surgeon I wanted to use is leaving his practice. Such a waste of talent. He's an awesome surgeon. Sooooo, that leaves me looking for a replacement. Would prefer someone with privileges at St. Tammany Parish Hospital. I'm so needing to do this for my health. This is a wonderful site!
