    16 months after surgery

Congrats on your success. Having surgery tomorrow with Dr. Moore who is in with Dr. Lavin's group. Going to Crescent City Surgical to have it done. Fingers crossed I have the same excellent experience.
  3. I'm tomorrow too. Also doing clears. Except for a couple of times, reaching for stuff, I'm doing well. Had a big emotional breakdown while ago. Scared sure. But mostly I think, mourning certain aspects of life and hoping this is the best decision of my life. But the excitement is setting in. I'm starting to look forward to a new, healthier, and less pain me. Also a nurse. I'm still sore from my last shift yesterday. Hoping when I start back, I can do without so much pain from being on my feet 12 + hours! Welcome to the forums and good luck!
  4. So glad they got u there and you are okay. That was a dangerous blood pressure. Prayers going out for you and your family as I'm sure they were/are scared. Let us know when you are "out of the woods" as I am positive that will be the case. They will fix this and you will have an uneventful recovery afterwards.
  5. Hope all is well. Let us know how u r doing. Prayers still up for u!

    Protein drink quandry...advice?

The chocolate vanilla and strawberry are all good. Have all those as well as the pumpkin. I could use the vanilla as a smoothie base very easily down the road.
  7. Do any of y'all think being a nurse, we know too much and it makes it even scarier?
  8. very good advice. It's easier to keep pain controlled to get it controlled. And you are right about the nurse. Take the meds while she is available.
  9. I work on a very busy MedSurg/oncology unit. Having enough time to drink and get my Proteins and is a very real concern. For that reason, I am planning to take five weeks off. I also want to make sure that my mental clarity is at an optimum which can be compromised with the low-calorie diet initially. I can go back earlier if I want/need to or if I feel I can.

    Louisiana Sleevers?

Going for my pre-op at crescent city surgical tomorrow! Getting real. One week from today is my sleeve date!
  11. My surgery is the 16th too. I think I'm only officially supposed to have Clear liquids the day before surgery. But I have horrible carbohydrate addiction. So I have started my own two week high Protein and low carbohydrate preop diet.

    Today Is The Day...

You're going to do great! Prayers to you and your surgical team. Here's to no gas pain (walking, walking, walking) and good hydration! Can't wait to join you on the losers bench!
  13. December 16th. Not on pre-op diet. Dreading that part. REally getting nervous about the surgery. Excited too. Hope all of our December 1st sleevers had greatly skilled surgeons and will have wonderful recoveries! Hope to hear from them soon. Good luck 2nd sleevers!

How Do You Know When To Stop Eating?

That's funny. For years (I'm not sleeved yet), I've said, "Uh-oh. I'm having hungry burps". That's an indication that I really need to eat or I get nauseated. Wonder how it will be after my sleeve.

    December 2013 Sleevers Come In!

After reading all of the post about unsupportive friends and family members, I have to say, I am so fortunate. I have many coworkers who have had this done and they are all extremely supportive. My family knows the struggles I have had over the past 25 years with my weight. They have seen me fighting and fighting and it has been a losing battle. LOL I am at other end of the spectrum. I have told everybody I am having it done! If has inspired so many people to start the process of research and looking into it for themselves. If anyone has not been supportive, they have kept it to themselves. Of course I have had concerns friends who although they don't want me to have the surgery, a very supportive of my decision. They understand my reasons for it. If there are haters they are flying under my radar and that's Judy fine with me

    December 2013 Sleevers Come In!

Hello all. I have to change my surgery date from December 9 2D decrmber 16th. It is not my ideal date but due to some health problems my husband was having, the move is necessary. If I don't have it done the 16th, it will be April of next year before I can have it. So fingers crossed the state will work.

    December 2013 Sleevers Come In!

Okay all. I am having to move my surgery from the ninth to the 16th. My husband was having some health issues that had to be addressed. This is not my ideal day but it is better than April of next year. LOL if I don't have the 16th, I will be looking at April.

    December 2013 Sleevers Come In!

Hi everyone. I was on the schedule for December 9th, but due to unforeseen circumstances have had to reschedule. We think it will be December 16. This is not ideal for me but my husband was having some health issues that had to be addressed. He will only be home for two or three days before having to leave to go to work. So I am hoping everything goes really smoothly and I want to have any issues afterwards. So if u can be moved to the 26th I'm hoping this is my final. If it doesn't happen then, it will be April of next year before I could do it

    Random Thoughts Thread

Random thought: I want to be able to bend over without holding my breath and/or grunting. I want to be able to squat down and not need to hold on to something to get back up.
