I was sleeved Oct 22, 2013. I will be 66 in August. I have lost 85 pounds. I am off all prescribed meds. Use a fitbit for my exercise and stats everyday. My life has changed tremendously for the better. I am constantly told l look wonderful and like a totaly different person. This is truly life changing. My hair loss has been some concern, but i have two beautiful wigs that i am told look so natural, no one even knows. I have truly enjoyed them and my new life.

I totally agree -- i have been married for 34 years also - i am about 5 months out-- have lost almost 70 lbs. My husband has been a wonderful husband for 34 years and supported my decision to do this. However, i chose to only tell my children. This was really hard for him and to make it worse i was so involved for months-- on line and educating myself on the whole process that he said he felt rejected. I had no idea until i found out he made some very bad choices that has made me feel betrayed and heartbroken-- not adultry - but it still feels terrible. He says he is glad i did this for my health --- but it makes me feel guilty. It is really true--- this definitly is life changing surgery. I am writing this because I did so much research-----and this was the very last thing I expected. I do feel terrific and look better than i have in years,

That sure is encouraging---- i am 8 weeks out -- doing better -- BUT nothing taste good ---the only good thing is i am down 45 pounds..

I too sleeved 10/22 Hardtime getting in liquids Protein very difficult. Stomach making grumbling sounds. Sore!! -
Dark urine for one thing, my dr was doing iv's for it just about every pre visit. It is costly and time consuming do not want that -- but it it is VERY difficult getting in all the fluids they recommend. Trying but discouraged at this point---- anyone else there?
-
I also had hernia repair--- thinking that is making more difficult. I just do not feel like walking Ugh!

Sleeved 10/22 1st full day home, very weak and very hard to get liquids down. So afraid of dehydration, they made such a big deal. This is hard, but haven't cried yet.

I hope we are both over reacting -- but my insurance girl at surgeons office says they can do just that. You should contact them periodically yourself

No, sorry I didn't make that clear. Unitedhealthcare sent me a letter saying that my request to cover procedure (43775) which is sleeve surgery, is eligible for coverage. But not a guarantee for payment until actual claim is sent in. They require prior 6 mo notification of surgery and during those 6 mo, weight management monitoring. I am in my 5 month now. Hope this helps.

You need to check with your ins co-- not the drs office. They have the last word. Also, with my letter in hand - I called ins co and they said I was not covered- kept persisting ( I have a letter). Finally got to the right person. This process is brutal---but don't give up until you are sure. The company you work for may have excluded WLS from your policy even though we both have UHC choice plus. I was told today it could take 2-6 weeks to get final approval- after completing all their hoop jumping- I am bummed. But not giving up- This will be so worth it. Hope it works out for you.
