I am glad it went well. I am having the same troubles with my stomach. Takes me forever to get my meds in. Today I have to get 64oz in. My postop diet is the following: weeks 1-3 liquids(clear the first week then full the next two weeks) week 4 pureed week 5 soft diet It is going ok since I don't feel hunger but I am always thirsty. I do not like Jello and the broth makes me nauseous. So I am very limited here with options. I am counting the hours until Monday when I have my postop appointment and can start full liquids. What is your postop diet?

Hi Everyone. I was sleeved on July 1st at 730 am. I came home last night. For the most part I am feeling great. I am having minimal to moderate pain and some gas bubbles but nothing too bad. Just working hard at getting my liquids in. I was so nervous going in. But once I woke up on the other side I feel like I made the right decision. Such a big decision to make. I am happy to be done finally. I wish you all the strength and courage you need to continue your pre op diets and get in there for your surgery this month. What a life changing surgery. Let me know if you have any questions at all. I am open to answering whatever it may be! Take Care!!

For the hospital I am packing some comfy clothes to wear home, my own pajamas, my toiletries, my medications, slippers and my sleeve book. I just went to Target today and picked up chewable vitamins and dissolvable b12, vitamin water calorie free, chicken and beef broth, sugar free jello, liquid Tylenol. I plan to go out and get my foods for week 2/3 my hubby will bring me to town and I will need/want to get out of the house. I do have yogurts and soups to strain. I also have my premade protein drinks the muscle milk light and my pure protein powder as I start a protein shake per day on day #3. I already have a magic bullet that I use daily to make my shakes and measuring spoons/cups and a food scale, so I think I am set there. I am scheduled for July 1st at 730am!! -
July 1st'ers -- Only One More Week To Go!
melegge replied to Vixynne's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I know! 1 week, it will go by so fast. I should get planning and cleaning. I am on a preop diet so that consumes some of my time. I have my pre op physical today and then meet with my surgeon one last time tomorrow. Good luck!! I am so excited to start the next chapter in my life. -
Met with the surgeon for the first time today, scheduled for July 1st. I am so excited. Now starts 1 week of 2 Protein Shakes per day and one 300 calorie meal. Then one week of liquids? We haven't really talked about that yet. This is what I had to do: September 2012 - General class Sep-May Meetings with Family Practice Physician 3 meetings with a psychologist 3 meetings with a dietician 4 meetings with a nurse educator 1 meeting with surgeon 2 meetings with PA for weight loss pre op What I have left: Final visit with Physician prior to surgery to do a final weight check and education on where to go. Pre Op Physical. I am so excited! The next two weeks will fly by.

I am hoping for the beginning of July. I thought I would make June but it turns out I won't. I am approved and have all of my meetings done. I am excited to start this new journey in my life!! Good luck everyone!

So happy for all of you who are scheduled for June! My insurance just denied me even though I met the requirements. Aparently BCBS is having confusion with their policy and my authorization got stuck in the middle of it. My clinic is appealing it now. I am so bummed! I really hope this doesn't take a long time. Otherwise everything else is done, I am just still working on my pre op weight loss. Good luck everyone!!

I passed my psych, finished my doc and nutrition visits now I am just waiting for insurance approval and trying to lose my pre op weight. I have to lose 12 lbs. I have lose 4 by doing protein shakes two meals per day which is hard. I hope I can lose the weight otherwise I can't schedule my surgery!

How much weight did you loose pre-op?
melegge replied to Readytobeskinny's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I did one Dietician meeting and have followed her plan for a month and have gained a lb. She has me eating more then I did before. I am really concerned about losing the 15lb pre op. I have to figure this out. I am on 1500 cal/day as instructed and nothing is coming off. I see the Dietician again Tue so I hope she can help then. My Doc doesn't do a 2 week liquid. They just require the pre op weight loss which is 15 for me and then clear liquids the day before. -
My psych eval consists of three 1 hr visits and 2-3 hours of psych testing and that is just the standard procedure. Crazy that it can differ so much from place to place.

My name is Melanie. I am a 30 yr old wife, mother and nurse. I have been struggling with my weight for over 10 years and have finally made the decision to make a lifelong change. I am so excited to have surgery. To have that missing tool that will help me to be successful, to be able to run a 5k without stopping to walk, to play with my kids for hours outside instead of sitting in the lawn chair. The list of reasons to have surgery goes on and on. Most of all I am doing this for myself. I want to live a long, healthy life. I have tried every diet and exercise program there is. I have met with doctors, nutritionist, diet specialist, personal trainers. You name it, I have tried it. None of these programs have helped me to have long term success. I have however learned how to make healthy choices, meal plan and journal my food. During these ventures I have also learned that I really enjoy exercising. I know, ENJOY it! I can’t wait until I can exercise without my body telling me to stop or slow down. To be able to run without that extra 100lbs! To feel free, free from the weight that has been holding me back and slowing me down. I am hoping to have my approval by the end of May so I can be scheduled in June. My husband and family are supportive of my decision to have weight loss surgery. I have told a couple of my close friends and coworkers and that was liberating. For some reason I felt like it was something to be ashamed of. Once I told a couple of people suddenly that was gone. I no longer feel like I have to hide me decision. I no longer have to hide the fact that I indeed need more help to lose weight then what I have had. I have really appreciated reading all the stories and posts on here. I have really found support and comfort in many of the comments and threads on here. I look forward to reading more and hopefully someday help people with their decision and provide support to others like you have done for me.

I am in the process of being ready for a June surgery. I am hoping to have my approval the end of May/ beginning of June to get scheduled. I am to the point where I have very little worry and am very excited to get my journey started. I would love to keep in contact for support. I am currently meeting with the bariatric nurse, dietician and psychologist. Good luck!
