June 15, 2013 Lost 17 lbs 30-Days post op I am still feeling a bit tired through the day, but trying (REALLY trying) to get myself talked into hitting the gym this week as I will be starting Week 6 post op. I believe once I start to regularly exercise and increase my water that I will see some smoking results (ie, more consistent loss, eliminating cottage cheese dimpling, etc) -
Band eroded & removed but ins. Won't pay for sleeve>:
LisaLoseAlotx2 replied to Teachingmom's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
my friends lapband eroded into her stomach. Any doctor will require you to not do anything for at least six months. If you are self-pay, due to cost, I would recommend looking into some of the excellent doctors in Mexico. I am thrilled with mine and they use a large variety of funding companies...although I will warn you, you will end up paying MORE going that route (they wanted to charge me a $1,000 fee). However, it is still 1/4 of the cost of what they charge in the states. -

metabolic lapband failure was happening - fall 2011 I was 180 lbs here and seemed to be forever stuck. Then the weight all creeped back on until I hit 212 lbs the day of my VSG revision -

85% of stomach removed. Blown up with gas to check for leaks. Mr Lapband....my nemesis is laying just to the left after being removed. Nothing but problems with my lapband the last three years of having it in. I have been reading that our stomachs can hold as much as a football, which makes it easy to understand how easily we can overeat. I find this amazing. -
Dr won't do the lapband to sleeve revision because lapband is eroded
LisaLoseAlotx2 replied to Paradise Mom's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
no erosion here. I also had very minimal adhesions. I had an unfill about a month before my revision to let my tummy relax from any irritation as well. -
I had lapband to sleeve revision and sorry to rain on your parade, but I am complication free. I have had NO problems and only wish I had done this last year. getting sleeved was one of the best things I could have ever done. EVER.

For those who had band to sleeve in one surgery..
LisaLoseAlotx2 replied to Band07's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I voluntarily unfilled my band 4 weeks before my revision. When Dr Garcia got in there, he said everything looked great and there was NO irritation (which is what I did it for...NO irritation) I was then sleeved right after he removed it -
Leaks can happen for MANY reasons. some leaks happen because people do not follow the rules and some leaks happen by sheer accident. I think alot of the leak issues are dependent on the quality of the doctor as well. How well the doctor stitched the bougie, checking for leaks after removal of the stomach, etc.

Did it! Now sleeved by Dr Fernando Garcia
LisaLoseAlotx2 posted a topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
I cannot believe this has gone by so quickly. I was the first person yesterday and surgery lasted about an hour. I even got to keep my lapband as a souvenir (lucky me!). Yesterday was exhausting and when I wasn't sleeping, I was walking. I did not have ANY gas, but have had swelling, which I think is normal. Today I had my first leak test which went great and no concerns. I also began my gatorade, apple juice and ice chips. I brought my chicken broth with me since the restaurant was 'closed' they said and would have to wait until getting back to the Marriott to get some. So I marched down to the hot water pot and made myself a cup. I feel pretty dang full though, so will probably wait a few more hours to have some. There is lots of little things I want to share, so will jot myself some notes before posting again. If anyone who is going to Dr Garcia has questions, please do not hesitate to ask. So far everyone is amazing and Dr Luna is gorgeous. I could stare at this man all day. My only major complaint is a nurse by the name of denise who LOVES to wake you up every 1.5 hours by turning on ALL the lights. This went on at 12, 130, 300, 330, 500 & 630 AM before I finally said screw it and just stayed awake. She is not here tonight, so I am hoping I can get some rest. Talk soon! -

Recovery: C-section vs sleeve
LisaLoseAlotx2 replied to GirlOnFire's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
1 natural 2 c-sections I would say that for me, the sleeve was more uncomfortable. I would not say painful as I am a low BMI, so I really did not have alot of belly fat to fight with like some do. Even with that said, I have felt much more tired with the sleeve surgery. I am three weeks out and I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE to take me a nap midday, so I do...no baby to stop me. I have taken care of myself better than I did with the C-sections (obviously). -
HELP! Why am I so itchy?

BTW...Costco sells it for $6.99 for the case. It looks like Amazon jacks up the price to $14.00 -

LisaLoseAlotx2 replied to LisaLoseAlotx2's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
In the chips section. it is typically in a small display and sometimes you have to really slow down and look back and forth from them because up here in Washington, they really go fast. But costco keeps it stocked everyday. They are wrapped in plastic as a case so you can see the package design I have attached an image http://www.amazon.com/Kirkland-Signature-Roasted-Seasoned-Seaweed/dp/B00AG0GLKM -
HELP! Why am I so itchy?
LisaLoseAlotx2 replied to LisaLoseAlotx2's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Ironically, I had a craving for my favorite Costco Roasted Seaweed sheets. they are little squares and taste like potato chips, but are only 100 calories for the entire container and 1 gram of fat. I had a hard time stopping eating them. I have not itched at all since having them. Nori is rich in protein and one sheet has as much fiber as a cup of raw spinach and more omega-3 fat than an avocado. Nori contains vitamin C, mega dose of B12 and compound taurine. I find them much more pleasant than popping pills. however, if you eat too much of it, your poop turns green. I have not itched in a week. So now at least I know I have another way to get my B12 in. -

you can do a direct deposit, but you would still have to wait five business days for the transaction to be cleared. -

New Zealand -> Tijuana

I am in no hurry to hit the gym either. I am not wanting a race, just nice and steady. The time will come to hit the gym hard, in the meantime I am busy enough and love my naps. I know what you mean for the every two hours thing. I don't feel "hungry", but can feel my blood sugar getting low and try to have a piece of cheese, scramble an egg or get some soup in. you are doing great!! -

LisaLoseAlotx2 replied to rollargirl's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
I am GOOD!! I became obsessed with the scale the first two weeks, so put myself on a self-imposed timeout. I will weigh myself for the first time in a week tomorrow. I feel thinner and my face has really thinned out. I am guessing I am about another 2-5 lbs down which will put me at 20 lbs total. I took my measurements again today and am down 4 inches around my chest I have also stopped hanging out in the kitchen worrying about "SOUP"...I began buying broth at an asian place and have now switched to their homemade egg flower Soup. I have found that not obsessing with making enormous portions of SOUP it is easier for me to not nosh so much. Behaviors have definitely changed over the past three weeks. I have also felt this SURGE of energy that has come out of nowhere. I have literally been going from room to room purging things, childrens clothes, I got rid of a box of size 12 clothing (I have no interest in being a size 12 anymore!!), painting two rooms, etc. Quite the busybody. I also decided after being home and back to work for two days to take a leave of absence from work. I felt I owed it to myself to heal and my manager was being a ****...so I took care of that. I have found that I LOVE scrambled eggs even more now. First of all, I could not eat scrambled eggs with my lapband, I always threw them up, so I avoided them. Now with the lapband GONE and moving into stage three being able to eat scrambled eggs is the best thing since sliced bread. How are you doing? Stats? -

LisaLoseAlotx2 replied to Heather Meyer's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
I had the same nagging feeling in the back of my head...that I could spend the money on paying off a credit card. However, this is my LIFE...this is my HEALTH I am a woman and by nature all I ever do is do things for others or take care of things before I take care of myself. This time I said NO...I am taking care of ME first. Good luck -

Cigarettes and surgery....
LisaLoseAlotx2 replied to lonestarstategal's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
Aetna is a bunch of weasels. I decided to take a short term leave of absence and they have had me jumping through hoops having to fill out paperwork by tomorrow. US healthcare is terrible. Dr Garcia provided me all my LOA documentation while my primary care office here in the US is still fumbling around trying to be organized. Mexico had everything done in TWO DAYS.
