  1. I think you should call your Dr. That doesn't sound normal yo me. pre-surgery weight 325; surgery date 2/28/2013; surgery weight 307; 8 weeks past-op weight 281.4
  2. I was able to eat pretty much anything one month post-op except very sweet things sometimes make me feel a little queasy. Just take slow and in small amounts and concentrate on getting your Protein requirements and you'll be fine. I personally think all things in moderation is a livable lifestyle as opposed to being super restrictive but this is a personal choice. pre-surgery weight 325; surgery date 2/28/2013; surgery weight 307; 8 weeks past-op weight 281.4
  3. I have to fly next month for the first time 3 years. I'm also really tall 6'1", so coach has always been torture for me and I will always upgrade if possible. I hope I will have a better experience and fit my wide ass in the seat! It's still tbe biggest part of me, other than my ego, and always will be! pre-surgery weight 325; surgery date 2/28/2013; surgery weight 307; 8 weeks past-op weight 281.4

    Large sleeve!

The size of the bougie was brought up by surgeon in the first informational meeting I attended but I didn't pay much attention to it then cuz I was going for the bypass initially. Once I got more info and met with the surgeon and he explained everything again I still didn't really understand it but I opted for the sleeve for a number of reasons, primarily wanting to avoid the whole dumping syndrome. Since your sleeve is larger perhaps you will have to experiment with eating frequent small meals and see if that helps with the hunger issue. It is very disappointing to go thru such a major surgery and not get the result you were promised. Don't feel too jealous of other's lack of hunger or inability to eat. It can be a bummer too especially in social situations or when there's yummy food but you literally can't eat it! You can do this but you will have to track your food and all that ****. The surgery isn't a cure for our disease it's just a tool. Hang in there! pre-surgery weight 325; surgery date 2/28/2013; surgery weight 307; 8 weeks past-op weight 281.4
  5. To Maagie517: Try taking a probiotic supplement as well as yogurt to replenish your good bacteria. Also, maybe you should call your PC Dr and see if they can give you something to calm your nausea. Your stomach and intestines might be inflamed and irritated. I hope you feel better soon. We all want to lose weight but it's important to try to maintain our wellbeing in the process. I do think that surgery in general weakens the immune system and since one's digestive track is an integral part of the immune system the VSG surgery may make us more susceptible and slower to recover. Plus, try a little chicken noodle soup. ???? pre-surgery weight 325; surgery date 2/28/2013; surgery weight 307; 8 weeks past-op weight 281.4

    Luquid Diet Survival: Suggestions?

Just keep reminding yourself that this is only temporary. Say it over and over. That's how I survived the pre-surgery liquid diet and first two weeks after surgery. pre-surgery weight 325; surgery date 2/28/2013; surgery weight 307; 8 weeks past-op weight 281.4

    Protein shakes

I buy the Dynmatize Elite brand from The Vitamin Shoppe online. Love the cafe mocha flavor. pre-surgery weight 325; surgery date 2/28/2013; surgery weight 307; 8 weeks past-op weight 281.4
  9. Hang in there. I was a basket case for the first five or six days as I was detoxing and in sugar withdrawal, but it got easier after that. pre-surgery weight 325; surgery date 2/28/2013; surgery weight 307; 8 weeks past-op weight 281.4
  10. I am two months post-op and I eat whatever I choose but in very small amounts. It's important to focus on getting the Protein and Water though. When I first started on solid foods I went very slowly and carefully, just trying a little bit at a time to see how it tasted and felt. It has been kind of fun in a way, like rediscovering food all over again. I don't eat much bread but have eaten small amount of rice and Pasta without any problem. I have eaten some dessert items a few times too. Sometimes I've found intensely sweet things make me feel queasy, which is probably a good thing since I'm a big sugar junkie. Just take it slow and listen to your new tiny tummy tell you when it's full. pre-surgery weight 325; surgery date 2/28/2013; surgery weight 307; 8 weeks past-op weight 281.4
  11. This is a personal decision that you should make after you've done as much research as possible. I would get more than one medical opinion. Try to choose a hospital that has a bariatric center of excellence rating for your surgery. The bypass is still considered the "gold standard" as my surgeon put it, because it had been around longer, been studied and has statistics to back up the success of the procedure. I first considered the band, then was set on the bypass, but after learning all of the potential complications I opted for the sleeve and I am happy with my decision. I didn't want to deal with the dumping syndrome that happens to people who've had the bypass. Not just cuz it can be embarrassing but often people experience heart palpitations and I already have an irregular heart beat so, didn't want to go there. The sleeve is still a major surgery and there is a huge adjustment that has to happen both physically and mentally. Regardless, one must be ready and committed to making it work. Best of luck to you whatever you decide. pre-surgery weight 325; surgery date 2/28/2013; surgery weight 307; 8 weeks past-op weight 281.4

    Questions, Questions?!

I am 2 months post-op and I do sometimes feel hungry. But more often I feel thirsty. Getting enough Water is a challenge sometimes. I carry water with me all the time. I sometimes have to talk myself into eating Breakfast in the morning, which used to be my favorite meal. I still love breakfast foods but can't eat very much and often don't have an appetite in the morning. Hungriest time for me is mid-day and/or afternoon and sometimes I want a little snack before bed. I try not to give in to that urge but I am still me, still love food. However I don't crave sugary things as much but I found I can eat frozen yogurt and frapuccinos easily. So I have to be careful with that. I do count my calories with an app on my phone. pre-surgery weight 325; surgery date 2/28/2013; surgery weight 307; 8 weeks past-op weight 281.4
  13. You are a very brave and determined man! I have no doubt you will persevere and your surgery will be approved. You have had an incredibly successful journey so far. I really admire your tenacity and honesty. pre-surgery weight 325; surgery date 2/28/2013; surgery weight 307; 8 weeks past-op weight 281.4

Hang in there. You're in the home stretch! pre-surgery weight 325; surgery date 2/28/2013; surgery weight 307; 8 weeks past-op weight 281.4
  15. Have you taken your measurements? You look a lot smaller to me, especially from the back. Remember too, you've only just started your journey. pre-surgery weight 325; surgery date 2/28/2013; surgery weight 307; 8 weeks past-op weight 281.4
  16. I am wondering if this is a symptom of dehydration and/or electrolyte imbalance. Or perhaps an allergy? Maybe you should go see your primary care doc if it is continuing to be a problem for you. pre-surgery weight 325; surgery date 2/28/2013; surgery weight 307; 8 weeks past-op weight 281.4
  17. I did have have some discomfort with liquids in the beginning but not as much pain as you describe. Cold liquids worked best so I was able to drink the Protein shakes pretty easily. Fatigue is normal. You just had major surgery. I had a lot of pain in my abs near the incisions. That took about a month to subside. I'm too months out now and doing really well. I hope things are getting easier for each day. Please call your Dr if you are still having pains. pre-surgery weight 325; surgery date 2/28/2013; surgery weight 307; 8 weeks past-op weight 281.4
  18. Hi all: today is my two month surgiversairy and I down 43.4 lbs! Holy crap! pre-surgery weight 325; surgery date 2/28/2013; surgery weight 307; 8 weeks past-op weight 281.4
  19. I tried these treatments on my thighs about three years ago, before I even considered having the gastric sleeve surgery. I was and still am much fatter than the treatments are designed for. If you only have a small amount of cellulite and loose skin it might be worth it. Otherwise it will be a waste of your money. I would also suggest you do more research about these procedures and the spas that offer them. Go see a dermatologist and a plastic surgeon for a consult and get a medical opinion before you decide. Many plastic surgeons offer payment plans too. Sent from my iPhone using VST
  20. I guess this comes under the heading of a NSV! I took a bath this morning for the first time in years. Not only did I get into the tub, more importantly, I got OUT of the tub by turning over onto my hands and knees to get up! I was amazed that I could maneuver my body around like that! Also, my pants are way toooo big! Sent from my iPhone using VST

    F*cking up!

Fear not! Stalls are a normal part of any weight loss journey. The two previous posts have great advice but I would add, try to spend some time with your feelings. Why are you feeling down? Is it just the weight loss stalling or is something else going on that's "feeding" into it. Depression is a common issue for many of us who have and are struggling with weight and when I'm feeling down I always have used food as a source of comfort. The only difference now is that I can't do the same level of damage I did before I was sleeved. Lastly, look for some NSV's like your cloths being too big, measurements getting smaller, easier movement, etc. to gauge your progress. You are in the midst of a huge life change and it's really only the beginning. Love yourself for your courage and determination! Sent from my iPhone using VST

  23. I was sleeved on Feb 28th and an down 40 lbs as of yesterday, which includes the pre-surgery diet phase. My weight loss has slowed the last few weeks as I've begun to eat more regular food. Also I've been extremely busy with a show that I am in so not able to get in enough exercise. Most of the time I feel fine but I get lightheaded sometimes. I think it might be cuz I'm not getting enough Water. I have to get down on my knees in the show and for the first time in my adult life I can do it gracefully, without having to put my hands down first. Getting up is still a bit of a challenge but I'm working on it! LOL! Keep up the great work fellow February 2013 sleevers! Sent from my iPhone using VST
