  1. Hey all you fabulous February 2013 sleevers! This is the best thread! Happy to report I've lost 51 lbs as of this morning! I was hoping to reach the 50 lb milestone so the extra lb is a great gift! Happy Thursday everyone! pre-surgery weight 325; surgery date 2/28/2013; surgery weight 307; 8 weeks past-op weight 281.4
  2. Awesome! Love the puppies too! pre-surgery weight 325; surgery date 2/28/2013; surgery weight 307; 8 weeks past-op weight 281.4
  3. Try decaf teas. Let it cool so it's luke-warm. I also liked Sobe Water. Concentrate on getting the fluids first right now. Staying hydrated is of primary importance. Hope it starts getting easier for you soon. pre-surgery weight 325; surgery date 2/28/2013; surgery weight 307; 8 weeks past-op weight 281.4

    Question

I would try to get another Dr's opinion and also do some more research before proceeding. Congrats on losing 30 lbs already! pre-surgery weight 325; surgery date 2/28/2013; surgery weight 307; 8 weeks past-op weight 281.4

  7. Made this for my hubby n me this morning. 1/2 ricotta or cottage cheese 1 egg white 1 whole egg 1/2 cup plain greek yogurt 1/2 cup NF milk 1 packet Splenda Combine wet ingredients in a blender In a separate bowl combine 3/4 cup ww flour 1/4 cup oat bran 2 T ground flax meal 1 t baking powder 1/2 t baking soda 1/4 t salt Add wet ingredients to the dry mixture and stir well. Cook on a lightly greased griddle. You can also add blueberries and/or chopped nuts at the end if you like. It make about 8 4" pancakes. I just make 4, hubby gets 3 and I get 1. I refrigerate the batter and have a pancake for Breakfast for the rest of the week. Yummy! I like to put a fried egg on top of my pancake but I usually can't eat the whole thing. pre-surgery weight 325; surgery date 2/28/2013; surgery weight 307; 8 weeks past-op weight 281.4

    Knee issues

Any advice for strengthening my quads without putting undue stress on my knees? I have pretty bad knees and can't handle lunges or squats yet. Hope to be able to eventually. pre-surgery weight 325; surgery date 2/28/2013; surgery weight 307; 8 weeks past-op weight 281.4

  15. I find if I pay attention to chewing every bite as thoroughly as possible that I am able to eat slightly more (maybe not a good thing) but this also slows me down. It is much harder to pay attention to your food and your body's sensations when there is a lot of distraction going on. I've had the sliming thing happen a couple of times and it's really gross and disgusting. I hope you can find a way to listen to your full signal and just put a napkin over the food so you don't have to see it. It is really hard when it's sitting there calling your name! I tend to eat about 1000 cals a day. pre-surgery weight 325; surgery date 2/28/2013; surgery weight 307; 8 weeks past-op weight 281.4

    I have something to say!

Oh Honey! You just made me laugh! There are a lot of food nazis on this site! I too eat some fat and carbs in small portions and even occasionally a (gasp) sugary treat! We do need some carbs and especially the Omega three fats in order for our metabolism to run. I try to concentrate on getting enough Protein though because if I don't that's when I feel hungry and I tend to start grazing, which is dangerous behavior. My other observation is that while I am able to eat sugar it tends to make me feel crappy. I try not to give in to my sugar cravings because it is an addiction for me. My brain still desires that sugary, mellow high, although my resistance to sugar's siren-song is much stronger since being sleeved! It is important to be self-aware of one's potential to F things up despite having had the surgery. pre-surgery weight 325; surgery date 2/28/2013; surgery weight 307; 8 weeks past-op weight 281.4

    Calcium Citrate

  18. I was advised to wait one year but I knew that wasn't likely. I had a glass of wine, which I couldn't finish, at about one month post-op. now if we go out I usually enjoy a glass of wine but that's all. You do get drunk faster so be very careful. I haven't tried anything bubbly or any hard liqueur. I didn't drink much before surgery anyway. The issue is that many people develop transfer addictions. pre-surgery weight 325; surgery date 2/28/2013; surgery weight 307; 8 weeks past-op weight 281.4
  19. As I was saying, if you search the word "constipation" on this forum you will find a wealth of helpful information on this problem. This is essentially what caused me to join the forum. I was having MAJOR constipation issues. Sorry to get graphic but it was like trying to pass a piece on concrete block. I now take a stool softener every day, drink two big glasses of Water first thing then have my coffee. That usually does the trick. Sometimes I skip a day but usually I am very regular now. I also add chia seeds to my yogurt and take a probiotic capsule. As your food choices expand to include more fruit and veggies that also helps. pre-surgery weight 325; surgery date 2/28/2013; surgery weight 307; 8 weeks past-op weight 281.4

  21. Welcome Alex and all you newbies! Congratulations on your decision to change your lives for the better and best of luck on your journey! The pre-op diet is hard, I won't lie. I was a basket case for the first 5 days but it got easier after that. If I can do it, crazy sugar-addict that I am, then you can too! pre-surgery weight 325; surgery date 2/28/2013; surgery weight 307; 8 weeks past-op weight 281.4

    Newbie here :)

Welcome! You are already well on your way! I've been overweight my whole life too. I hope the rest of your pre-approval process goes smoothly. I was sleeved on 2/28/13 so I'm just a couple of months post-op. it boggles my mind sometimes that I actually had the surgery cuz I'm such a chicken about any kind of surgery. But I felt so strongly that this was the right thing for me to do. I want to be freed from my excess weight and it's happening! I kinda freaks me out! LOL! Best of luck to you! pre-surgery weight 325; surgery date 2/28/2013; surgery weight 307; 8 weeks past-op weight 281.4

    blood clots

Please don't mess around if you have blood clots. You need to go back to the hospital. pre-surgery weight 325; surgery date 2/28/2013; surgery weight 307; 8 weeks past-op weight 281.4
  24. I think your obsessing about the hair-loss may be a symptom of anxiety about the surgery. This is a big deal and you are allowed to be scared. Once this surgery is done there's no going back because you body has been changed forever. Please ask yourself if, deep down, you are truly ready to do this. If you realize that maybe you aren't ready then don't do it. If you are ready then, awesome! Your hair will get thinner but so will the rest of you! pre-surgery weight 325; surgery date 2/28/2013; surgery weight 307; 8 weeks past-op weight 281.4
  25. You may not be eating enough Protein now and you will definitely need to focus on getting your protein requirements after surgery. hair loss can be caused by many things, hormonal imbalance, stress, genetics, alopecia, so perhaps you should seek medical advice about it. I haven't experienced any hair loss and am almost 10 weeks post-op. pre-surgery weight 325; surgery date 2/28/2013; surgery weight 307; 8 weeks past-op weight 281.4
