    Avocado and egg

As seen on Facebook I tried cooking an egg in half an avocado this morning. Not as easy as it looks. You have to scoop out most of the avocado in order for a large egg to fit into the hole. I failed miserably at that part and had to clean up most of the egg-white from my counter. I cooked it in my toaster oven at 450 for about 10 minutes. It need some seasoning or maybe a little salsa but was pretty tasty and very satisfying. pre-surgery weight 325; surgery date 2/28/2013; surgery weight 307; 8 weeks past-op weight 281.4; 12 weeks post-op 274

    Bittersweet NSV

The Lane Bryant swimsuits come in lots of cup sizes if you like tankini style suits and don't mind the hard clam-shell-like bra built into it. I personally find them to be extremely uncomfortable. I am despairing that I'll be able to find a swimsuit that I like. I need lots of bust support and I want hip and thigh coverage. Guess I'll try the Just My Size catalogue. They aren't too expensive and seem to have a lot of styles. pre-surgery weight 325; surgery date 2/28/2013; surgery weight 307; 8 weeks past-op weight 281.4; 12 weeks post-op 274

    What's the Hardest Part?

I am very glad that I had the surgery it has changed my life for the better in many ways. There's a lot thats difficult though. The first five days of the two-week pre-op liquid diet was hell for me but day 6 to the day before surgery weren't bad. Guess I went thru sugar withdrawal, LOL! The first night after the surgery was also not fun because I was so nauseous. But the hardest part for me is now that I'm four months out my old demons are working on me and I'm really struggling with my desire to eat. I still have cravings sometimes and want to eat but it's all head-hunger. The surgery doesn't change your brain when it comes to dealing with emotional eating. You still have to work at it but the surgery gives you a big advantage since you can't eat a large volume of food. pre-surgery weight 325; surgery date 2/28/2013; surgery weight 307; 8 weeks past-op weight 281.4; 12 weeks post-op 274
  6. So sorry you are going thru this. Your pain level doesn't sound normal to me. I think you should call your surgeon again and be more emphatic that you are in terrible pain and something needs to be done ASAP! He should see you right If you don't get a satisfactory response from your surgeon I would go to the ER and get some tests done to make sure there's nothing wring. Hope you are feeling better soon. pre-surgery weight 325; surgery date 2/28/2013; surgery weight 307; 8 weeks past-op weight 281.4; 12 weeks post-op 274
  7. Try adding 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar to a large glass of Water and sip it slowly. It has helped with reflux. Seems counter intuitive but it's an old fashioned remedy that's been around a long time. pre-surgery weight 325; surgery date 2/28/2013; surgery weight 307; 8 weeks past-op weight 281.4; 12 weeks post-op 274

    Deja Vu all over again

Thanks for posting you story. I hope very much this doesn't happen to me but it's good to know it's a possibility to be aware of and that it can fixed with a revision surgery. I have had problems with reflux for several years and it has been somewhat worse since my surgery. It's manageable though so far. I would get the surgery again despite the reflux. I knew it might be a problem for me but the wright loss has been worth it, most definitely! pre-surgery weight 325; surgery date 2/28/2013; surgery weight 307; 8 weeks past-op weight 281.4; 12 weeks post-op 274

    Vacation advice 8 weeks out

Pack some Protein bars and once you're there go to a store and buy some shakes. A glass of wine is probably OK but I'd stay away from the hard stuff. Be sure to drink your Water because you can get dehydrated really fast in a hot climate and on the beach. Hope you like seafood and have a great time!!! pre-surgery weight 325; surgery date 2/28/2013; surgery weight 307; 8 weeks past-op weight 281.4; 12 weeks post-op 274
  12. OMG!!! What a nightmare! Your hubby is really a sweetheart and a trooper! I've not experienced anything so traumatic but I have also learned that farts aren't always just gas! LOL! Be careful with your food choices in restaurants so soon after your surgery. I guess you've figured that out the hard way! Steer clear of anything high-sugar or high-fat. I said this already on another thread today, feed your new tummy like you would a baby just starting to eat solid food. Go slowly and carefully. Eventually you can eat a bit more adventurously but it's a good idea to do that at home or stay close to a restroom just on case! Hope this never happens to you again! pre-surgery weight 325; surgery date 2/28/2013; surgery weight 307; 8 weeks past-op weight 281.4; 12 weeks post-op 274
  13. Congrats on your great weight loss! I get this when I'm dehydrated. Also my NUT said it can happen if you're not getting enough Calcium. I would ask your dr. especially if you've been on any medications. After losing 80 lbs so rapidly there are definitely adjustments that need to be made. pre-surgery weight 325; surgery date 2/28/2013; surgery weight 307; 8 weeks past-op weight 281.4; 12 weeks post-op 274

Gluten free, sugar free, fat free OH MY!

When you first start to eat solid food just take slow and carefully. Think of yourself as a baby. What would you feed a baby who is just starting to eat real food? At almost four months post op I can eat pretty much what I want but find I have to focus on the Protein to get enough. I do eat carbs but not anywhere near as much as before. I also try to eat salad a lot cuz I actually crave it! Who'd a thunk? I used to be such a chocoholic. Try to stay away from processed sugar because it might make you feel sick and if not, it will slow your weight loss, at least that's what my NUT told me. pre-surgery weight 325; surgery date 2/28/2013; surgery weight 307; 8 weeks past-op weight 281.4; 12 weeks post-op 274

    Bruises!?

I had some big bruises on my hips which are from being strapped onto the operating table. My tummy bruises weren't too bad. But they must have mashed my boobs strapping me onto that table cuz the girls were sore too, but no bruising. Sounds like I was taking part in an S&M club! Probiotics

I started using a pro- biotic after my surgery. It helps with the constipation issue that most of us suffer thru for the first month or two after surgery. pre-surgery weight 325; surgery date 2/28/2013; surgery weight 307; 8 weeks past-op weight 281.4; 12 weeks post-op 274

    Really stupid question..

Don't worry about trying to chew yogurt! LOL! Just eat it slowly, savor and enjoy it! Do thoroughly chew any food that one would normally chew! pre-surgery weight 325; surgery date 2/28/2013; surgery weight 307; 8 weeks past-op weight 281.4; 12 weeks post-op 274
  18. Having been obese for my entire life I definitely relate to these feelings. I now feel much better about myself and am gaining more self-confidence but I sometimes still feel unhappy with my body. I carry my weight mostly in my hips and thighs and it blows my mind that after having lost 57 lbs I'm still really fat! I have a ways to go before I reach my goal but I'm starting to wonder if I will still feel unhappy with my body. I also freak out sometimes cuz my body is shrinking so quickly and I don't recognize myself, LOL! Also , I think what you are going thru is a process of letting go of your state of denial that helps one cope with life as an obese person. It shields your psyche but it also keeps you fat and when you start to let that go and really see yourself it can be very distressing and depressing. I was in HUGE denial for many years and now it is clear to me how much I used my fat as a pseudo shield but also how I would tell myself that I wasn't "really that fat". When I stopped lying to myself is when I made to decision to have weight loss surgery. It was one of those "come to jesus" moments for me. You are all doing great and are such beautiful young women. Go for the brass ring ladies and love yourselves irregardless cuz life is short. pre-surgery weight 325; surgery date 2/28/2013; surgery weight 307; 8 weeks past-op weight 281.4; 12 weeks post-op 274
  19. I had my surgery at a new hospital so they are just starting the support group in July. Yes I still drink the shakes although not every day. However, I find that I'm less likely to start grazing when I have a protein shake for a snack or after I work out. So since I've noticed that I'm going to try to drink them more regularly but as a snack not a meal. I want solid food for a meal. pre-surgery weight 325; surgery date 2/28/2013; surgery weight 307; 8 weeks past-op weight 281.4; 12 weeks post-op 274
  20. I haven't had any weight gains but a couple of slow weeks where I lost only a pound or maybe 1/2 pound. I seem to average about 1&1/2 lb a week. I battle head hunger a lot too but I seem to have better self-control most of the time now than I ever had before surgery. I do eat things occasionally that are less than helpful choices for weight loss but I can't eat very much so it hasn't hurt me do far. Very sugary foods make me nauseous so I don't want that stuff as much, LOL! I crave a bowl of cereal sometimes so I have a little 1/2 cup custard bowl for that. Cracks me up when I think how much I used to eat. I suggest you try upping your daily calories to 1000 and add in some more protein and also a little omega 3 fats like avocado, egg, olive oil and see if that helps with the head hunger. The omega 3 fats are very important for the sense of satiation and for your overall health. pre-surgery weight 325; surgery date 2/28/2013; surgery weight 307; 8 weeks past-op weight 281.4; 12 weeks post-op 274

    Cold feet!

It is normal to feel anxious and question your decision. Even if you change your mind the day of surgery it's OK. Remember this is your body and you get to decide how you deal with it. If you aren't ready you can always move the surgery date and think about it some mire. Although I have been thrilled with my surgery results I would never push someone to go into this surgery unless they are truly ready to handle the enormous lifestyle change! pre-surgery weight 325; surgery date 2/28/2013; surgery weight 307; 8 weeks past-op weight 281.4; 12 weeks post-op 274
