  1. Seems to me your weight loss is great! So you gained a few lbs. You'll lose it again. Maybe you're retaining fluid for some reason. My suggestion is to take a deep breath and try to calm down. Are you journaling what you eat? Maybe you should meet with the nutritionist and go over your food choices to see of you can tweak things. Our stats are similar but I am losing a bit slower than you and I'm probably taller (6'1") so I eat more, usually 1300-1500 cals a day. I was told to expect to lose about 60% of my excess weight from the surgery but after that I would have to work at it just like anyone else. pre-surgery weight 325; surgery date 2/28/2013; surgery weight 307; 8 weeks past-op weight 281.4; 12 weeks post-op 274; 4 month post-op 266.2; 5 month post-op 262.6; 6 month post-op 253.2

Your calories sound about rightat 4 weeks post-op. Sounds like the infamous stall that we all hit at weeks three or four. It's our body's way of saying WTF? LOL! Just keep doing what you are doing and perhaps add some extra water with lemon. It'll help if you're retaining fluid to flush it out of your system. pre-surgery weight 325; surgery date 2/28/2013; surgery weight 307; 8 weeks past-op weight 281.4; 12 weeks post-op 274; 4 month post-op 266.2; 5 month post-op 262.6; 6 month post-op 253.2

Thanks M2G but I think I'll stick with the 5 miles. I doubt that I am pedaling at the same furious rate you do! It takes me almost 2 hours to ride 14 miles on a trail ride which is mostly flat! pre-surgery weight 325; surgery date 2/28/2013; surgery weight 307; 8 weeks past-op weight 281.4; 12 weeks post-op 274; 4 month post-op 266.2; 5 month post-op 262.6; 6 month post-op 253.2

To JessicaAnn: One more thought about addressing the hunger feelings, you may need to add more fat, especially the omega 3 fat like avocado, olive oil and nut butters to you diet. They tell your brain you've had enough and they are yummy too! pre-surgery weight 325; surgery date 2/28/2013; surgery weight 307; 8 weeks past-op weight 281.4; 12 weeks post-op 274; 4 month post-op 266.2; 5 month post-op 262.6; 6 month post-op 253.2

JessicaAnn: you probably can eat a little more at this point. Try upping your calories to 1000. Your body may be in starvation mode. Also, try upping your Protein. i upped my protein by drinking a Protein shake with some greek yogurt added to it as a snack and it helped the hunger issue. You are doing great so far and should feel very proud of yourself. I also think it's best to only weigh yourself once a week. You can control what you eat but you can't control what your body does with it. pre-surgery weight 325; surgery date 2/28/2013; surgery weight 307; 8 weeks past-op weight 281.4; 12 weeks post-op 274; 4 month post-op 266.2; 5 month post-op 262.6; 6 month post-op 253.2

The bikes in my gym don't have a digital display. Bummer. 100 mile challenge

Just did a 45min spin class. Holy crap! Ok now I know how much more work I have to do in terms of getting in shape but also, how far I've come. I tried spin class over a year ago when I was still 300+ and it nearly killed me. This time I could almost keep up with the skinny b$&@h's! I have no idea how many miles that translates to for the challenge, though. pre-surgery weight 325; surgery date 2/28/2013; surgery weight 307; 8 weeks past-op weight 281.4; 12 weeks post-op 274; 4 month post-op 266.2; 5 month post-op 262.6; 6 month post-op 253.2

    100 mile challenge

Yesterday was a wash, eye Dr apt which was a last minute addition cuz they had a cancellation, and work schedule interfered with my exercise plans. Got to gym this morning and did 30 mins on the weight machines and 35 mins on the elliptical which was only 1.5 miles. So my total is 32.1 miles. On the up side had my 6 month post-op check up with my surgeon and he was very happy with my progress. I am down 73lbs total which is slightly over 50% of my total excess weight and he said 60% is what they expect for the sleeve. I can't imagine myself losing 100% of my excess weight and reaching 185 lbs, I would be one, tall, skinny lady! But, it doesn't seem so pie-in-the-sky as it used to be. At least now I have a fighting chance! pre-surgery weight 325; surgery date 2/28/2013; surgery weight 307; 8 weeks past-op weight 281.4; 12 weeks post-op 274; 4 month post-op 266.2; 5 month post-op 262.6; 6 month post-op 253.2

    Discuraged & Depressed!

If you are vomiting you may be trying to drink the Protein shakes too fast. Also, try some different brands. You may find something more palatable. You weight loss so far seems right on track to me. I've never heard of a surgeon shaming their patients like that before. It's not as though you are purposefully sabotaging yourself. You are probably in the stall phase which happens to most people around week 3 post-op. You could also call the Nut and ask for advice about your problem with the Protein Shakes. No worries, you are doing great! pre-surgery weight 325; surgery date 2/28/2013; surgery weight 307; 8 weeks past-op weight 281.4; 12 weeks post-op 274; 4 month post-op 266.2; 5 month post-op 262.6; 6 month post-op 253.2

    Best and worst "compliments"

Best compliment has come from my niece, a very tall, model-thin and beautiful young woman who said "wow! You're almost as skinny as me!" My Mom, who is the queen of the left-handed compliment said to me, when I was about 3 months post-op, "well, I guess it looks like you've lost a little weight." I always have to remind myself that she's 83, has no filter and means no harm. The worst for me is when people I think would have encouraging words, like the trainers at the gym, say nothing at all. pre-surgery weight 325; surgery date 2/28/2013; surgery weight 307; 8 weeks past-op weight 281.4; 12 weeks post-op 274; 4 month post-op 266.2; 5 month post-op 262.6; 6 month post-op 253.2

    100 mile challenge

Walked 2.6 miles today so that brings my total to 30.6. We were planning to go on a bike ride on a section of the trail we've never rode before this morning but I was having some tummy trouble so pushing my body didn't seem prudent. I was feeling better by 4pm so at least we got out and enjoyed the beautiful day! pre-surgery weight 325; surgery date 2/28/2013; surgery weight 307; 8 weeks past-op weight 281.4; 12 weeks post-op 274; 4 month post-op 266.2; 5 month post-op 262.6; 6 month post-op 253.2
