  1. Hi all: I've been grieving for the loss of our original VST.com forum. I don't like the new app or the name "Bariatric Pal" and preferred the smaller pool of participants. But I missed you all too much and realized that I need the support and encouragement for myself as well as the inspiration I get from seeing everyone's wonderful weight loss accomplishments! It is also important to me to be a source of support and encouragement to others in their journey. So here's to all my fellow Feb. 2013 sleevers!
  2. Hi all: It's taken me a while to decide if I wanted to continue being a part of this forum after the change to "Bariatric Pal". First of all I hate the name. That aside the larger pool of participants is also something I'm not really comfortable with. But I missed y'all so much! So I've decided to stay with the forum. It helps me to stay on track and reading about everyone's wonderful successes and accomplishments really inspires me to work harder. Blessings to all my fellow Feb 2013 sleevers!

    October 100 Mile Challange!

Just want to congratulate everyone on all your inspiring, athletic endeavors and accomplishments. I was just plum pooped out this past week so it's not an inspiring finish for the challenge for me this time. Hope to do better in November. Carry on every one!

    October 100 Mile Challange!

" Maybe someday it will be easier to push self without a nagging voice that says "stop, rest, stop, stop..." Hey Fiddleman: It actually helps me to know that someone else, a person who is as athletic and fit as you are, has to push themselves. I always have to tell myself repeatedly "you can do it!" But then voices in your head are a sign of insanity!

    October 100 Mile Challange!

Got in a 2.5 mile walk yesterday. Haven't had much time to exercise since last Tuesday owing to work schedule. This working two part-time jobs thing is a PITA and I just need to rest a bit. Brings my total to 64.3. Not sure if I'm gonna get to 125 miles this month but this challenge helps to keep me motivated and more active than I would likely be otherwise. I am, by nature, pretty damn lazy!

    Shaving before VSG?

Don't shave. If they need to they'll do it in the OR.

    Not doing so well

Everything they said, plus remember that you are in this for the long haul. We all have bumps in the road and just cuz we had surgery doesn't mean it is always easy. As many on this forum have said, they didn't operate on your brain. If you haven't been tracking your food intake start doing it now. And don't be too hard on yourself for struggling with food issues. We all do or we wouldn't have had WLS and be on this forum.

    Sleeve vs bypass

This a decision that is ultimately up to you. I was originally going for the bypass but when I learned about the sleeve and also learned more about the potentially unpleasant side effects of the bypass (dumping syndrome) I opted for the sleeve. It has changed my life! The bypass is considered the gold standard of weight loss surgeries because there are ling term studies showing it has good results. Any surgery is a risk and all weight loss surgeries can be defeated if one doesn't embrace the life style changes necessary for long-term success. Get as much info as you can and make your decision based on both that and you gut feeling about what is best for you. (Pardon the pun!)

    October 100 Mile Challange!

20.5 mile bike ride in the gorgeous october weather! Must have been feeling the urge for some civil disobedience cuz I rode on the Schuylkill River trail which skirts the edge of Valley Forge Park, currently closed due to the government shut down. However the trail was open so I guess it's considered PA's responsibility and not the Feds. Bummer, was really hoping to stage a protest! NOT! Everyone is doing so great! Oh yeah, that puts my total at 60.1.
