Hey anyone worked with the Kane Center in Illinois? What are your thoughts about this facility? I'm just starting the process, any tips or things I should know. I'm waiting for insurance approval and working with Dr. Kane.

I was sleeved at Alexian Brothers/Kane Center in Elk Grove Village three weeks ago. The staff and experience was awesome. I can't say enough positive things. The approval process was super easy. I'm now in love with all of the post surgery support.

Do most people have drains?
diva1 replied to lynndtt's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I just had my drain removed yesterday and I feel like a new woman. My drain had a safety pin on the plastic loop clip part. My hospital gave me a lanyard and told me to clip it to the lanyard when showering. I clipped it to my pants or shirt to get through the days. I swear it was like instant recovery when they removed it. I can even eat and drink more now. It gets better. -
Do most people have drains?

I have a drain, it has been in for a week and will be removed today at my first post op appt. -
I was told the drain removes excess fluid from the incision site to prevent possible infections internally.
-
I'm not sure, I just woke up with one. They talked about the drain and showed it to us on the pre surg class at the hospital. All of four of us that attended had drains and we had different doctors. It doesn't hurt at all. I empty it twice day, each day it fills less. I

I just had my surgery June 18th with Dr.Kane. I haven't had any incision problems yet but I get my drain removed Wednesday, so I will see what happens.

June 18th in tha house!

The pre op diet is 15 days of liquids only before surgery. 4-5 shakes a day, water, broth, sugar free jello and popsicles. You can add oatmeal, fruit and yogurt to your blended shakes. The 15th day, which should be the day before surgery is clear liquids only. The first two days were rough but it has been better after. You will get tired of sweets though.

I think they all are great. I have Dr.Kane and scheduled for June 18th. It took me about one month to get through all of the appointments etc. My approval was quick.I was really on top of getting appointments so this was a quick process for me. I'm on the pre op diet now.

I'm on June 18th also
-
I'm preop also, surgery scheduled for 6/18. I'm loading up on protein and I have been taking biotin for a few months. I just hear about folks losing hair and it freaks me out, especially with locks.

Is there anyone on here with sisterlocks or traditional locs? Did you experience hair loss? How does hair loss work with your locs?

How did you get through 2 weeks pre op?!
diva1 replied to danelle235's topic in Pre-op Diets and Questions
I'm on day two, just working on my mental staying power. I have stayed in the house the entire weekend as there is nothing here to tempt me. I can have up to 5 shakes a day (bariatric advantage), unlimited broth, water, sugar free jello. I can also add yogurt and fruit to my smoothies. Clear liquids the day before surgery. Technically I didn't have to start until Monday but I started Saturday, so that I could work out my issues before work. I'm sooo hungry, I'm dreaming and fantasizing about food. -
