  1. [Pre-op] Lost a few pound's since my last hospital appointment. Proud

  2. So this morning I received a letter from my hospital with a date for my pre-op/assessment. 22nd July! Feels like forever away but after waiting this long, I'm more than willing to wait a month more! Just a few questions, 1, what do they do? Do they Go over the operation and diet? I have no idea and 2, do they give you an operation date on that date? I'm well aware every hospital/surgeon are different, I'm just so excited, I need to know as much as I can haha. Thank you in advance, Bobbie X

Got my pre op date :D

Hello, thank you for the replies. I shortly after received a hospital letter saying that I will get an operation date on the pre-op day, So I'm assuming that's the last appointment before the operation?
  4. So after years of fighting and numerous tests, I've finally been accepted for the gastric sleeve. I've literally never been so happy in my life. Should find out my pre-op date next week, finally on my way to a healthy lifestyle.

    back pain

Hello, oh that's crazy, I'll be sure to remember that for the future. My doctor doesn't think it is anything other than the pressure of my weight, which is frustrating. Thank you, hope you're well.

    back pain

The pain seemed to calm down and then suddenly dissapeared. May get it tested out still incase it decided to come back. I wasn't sure gallbladder could affect the back? Thank you for your response.

    Help?!

So my Surgeon wants to do the sleeve on me withing 3-4 months (so shocked, literally can't believe it) but before he wants me to keep my weight maintained... Howwww?! I've cut out junk food, coffee, added (30 minutes a day) exercise and gained a pound... should I do more? I literally need all the help I could get.

    Help?!

Thank you for your replies, they really made me think. I actually lost a pound but kept weighing myself everyday, which made me feel worse. I'm now doing more excersize and experimenting more with new, healthier foods and I'll be weighing myself every week instead of everyday haha, thank you ladies

Anyone from Bristol or Essex in UK?

Hello, I'm from the UK and currently unsleeved. I'm at UCH hospital in London and I'm from Essex. I'm not sure if they have support groups around here, that's why I come on here. It's always helpful to have people you can relate with. Hope things are going good for you! x

    Tired of the fat jokes

I agree, I'm 19 and have heard of most fat 'jokes' Only last week I had some kids following me around shouting 'watch out, it's big mama' (if you've seen the movie, you'd understand) I know I'm fat but I don't need to hear it constantly when I can see it everyday when I look in the mirror. Some people just need to realise that unless they're ''perfect'' themselves.. they have no right judging others. Good luck on your surgery! Also that movie mentioned in previous comments I think is called 'Shallow Hal' with Jack Black

    Worried

I'm meeting the surgeons on the 16th and that's when they'll decide if I have the op or not but I'm really worried. Since the last time I saw my dr, I have gained soo much weight and I'm just really worried that they'll say no because of this.. So scared.
  16. This is a quick question, I'm rereading my letter to meet the surgeon and says "initial assessment for bariatric surgery" I'm from the UK so may be different from other places but does anyone know what this means/what I'll have to have done? I'm just so nervous, I feel like I just need to know everything when meeting them.
  17. I've heard homertons really good, sometimes wish I'd went there haha. Thank you for your advice, it's helped me lots! Really appreciate it. Yeah I can imagine, it's a big deal! I've gained weight since I last see them (over a year ago) and just worried they'd use that as a problem :/
  18. I really ain't sure, my story is kind of confusing as I was going through the stages of surgery preparation in adolescence but once I turned 19, they've put me on the adult route (apparently it's quicker?)So now I don't know if I have started again or continuing but I've been told that this is the appointment I've been waiting for and then in 3 months I find out if I have been accepted/rejected. Thank you for your help, really helped. I have been nervous as to what it's about since I received the letter haha xx
  19. Appointment with the hospital on the 16th, I just wanna know now :(

    help?!

Thank you all for advice, I've tried atkins but I just seem to re-gain so quickly with that :/ I think I'll just see what my doctor says, I'm just so nervous. Also I have not had the op yet (I wished) I just don't know how to change it on here. I am currently at the beginning stages, waiting until May/June until I know if I have been accepted or not.. Impatient is not the word!

    help?!

I meet my surgeon on the 16th April for my first big appointment thats 4-5 hours long. Since I last saw the dr that referred me, I have gained weight (its been a year and gained 1stone+) and I just wondered if anyone has any advice on how to loose some weight? I know I won't exactly loose a lot in 2 weeks but I want to go there and not feel completely useless, or should I just wait it out and see what diet they put me on? Sorry if that makes no sense, I'm just so nervous, Thank you in advance Xx

    Finally! :)

So I finally have my appointment through to see the surgeons, 2nd April! I will be counting down
  23. I have my first appointment with the surgeons and bariatric nurse on the 2nd of April! One Step Closer! :D

    One Step Closer..

Wooo, finally my GP has sent of my referral letter so now hopefully we can get started on meeting the surgeon and then I'll know more. It's quite frustrating that for just under a year, all I've been waiting for is my DR to send off one sentence and they lied .. but still, I just want to look forward. I'm trying not to get my hopes up, done that way too many times. Going to set myself goals to keep motivated.. 1. Do the 7 minute workout each day. 2. Try get an appointment asap, don't wanna be forgotten about again. 3. Log into this site more, it's really useful and great people! That's it for now, wish me luck. ♥
