Am I the only non-losing Loser!

No, you're not. Let me just start out by saying that I like the old band better. I had to have it redone because of a slip but the new band surgery was on March10th this year and I can eat anything i want and how much I want just like I could before the lap band. When I will go get a fill, the nurse practioner will say that i should be filling some sort of restriction but nothing! I guess i need to call the dr and find out what's going on. I've gained back 15lbs and I'm not happy.
  4. I forgot to ask you who is your doctor and where do you go for your fills.. Maybe we can get together and walk, help each other in some way.. let me know

  5. Hi, Thanks for your message. You're right we're not very far from each other. Well, I was banded on 3-25 by Dr. Frank Felts. His office is in the Colony and he is great.. no complaints. He says I should have lost more weight by now but encourages me to keep trying and to stay on track. I told him on my second fill that I was able to swallow two horse looking pills for my back pain and he was kind of like your NP and said you should not be able to swallow those but what he said next was a little different that your NP, he said lets go a few days with the fill he had just given me and call him back in if I didn't feel like I was getting the help I needed from my band or good restriction. When I first began the process my weight was 240lbs. During the pre surgery process, I didn't actually try to loose any weight and only lost 4lbs. So at post-op I was 236lbs and bmi was 40. I am now 209 lbs, have lost a whole lot but haven't gained either.

POLL: how much fill in a 10cc band?

I feel the same way you are right now. First of all new to the post, but you get great information on here. I've recently posted that the NP doesn't believe that I have no restriction right now I'm at 6.5cc in a 10cc band. I can eat anything and i have gained 15lbs. She told me the last time I was in there that I should feel great restriction and I shouldn't rely on the band to do the work for me. I'm trying here, but why did I have the surgery IF I wasn't going to rely on the band to help me!

POLL: how much fill in a 10cc band?

I'm glad to hear that you have so much because I have 6 something in mine, with no restriction and they don't believe me. I had to have my lapband redone about 4 months ago and this new band you don't have the wall (meaning you eat one more bite and it will all come back up) like the old band did. I'm having to learn things all over. But it's hard when you are able to eat anything you want and how much you want. I have to schedule another fill and they aren't going to be too pleased with me. They say that they watch out for things that many other facilities don't because they want us to work at losing weight and not just rely on the band. Well, if I wanted to do that I would have never got lapband. My main reason to get it was for it to do most of the work for me and to train me that eating right and little is the way. But when you have no restriction its hard to push it away. Does this make sense?
  8. I would like to add to this post......I'm a newbie and I was banded about 2.5 years ago, I recently within the last 5 months had to have my band redone. With this new band (still Allergan) I don't have any restrictions at all. My Dr. warned me that with the new band you have to learn to eat all over again, because the new band doesn't have that wall you hit and then food comes back up. I need help! When I go and get fills they say that I should be filling some restriction but I'm not....I have 7 in a 10 band? What's the deal?

    Tummy Tuck 2 Days Ago

Any other suggestions that we are going to need for a quick and easy healing after our TT. I got the website for the garments, is this not something that your PS dr provides? If not, I need to go ahead and order one or two as suggested. What size do we order? I think I would be an extra large now but after the TT I might be a large. I've been reading other posts that suggested renting or buying an toilet seat raiser so you don't have to squat that far down.....really clever idea, stool softners were also suggested. Give me all details, I want to be completely prepared for a good and quick recovery. Did you drop a size in clothing? I'm so excited to be able to wear jeans with a shirt tucked in with a cute belt, that's my goal to get to. I need to get motivated in exercising as well, any help with this is greatly appreciated.

Renewedhope is Headed for the Flatlands

As I'm sitting here trying to motivate myself into exercising, I'm very proud of you ladies that have been doing so well. Now I need some motivation. Please tell me how you got started. I have been banded for a year now, and have lost 42 lbs, I would like to lose 20 more, just for my weight on a scale to look good, but overall I'm pretty happy by what I see in the mirror except for a couple of things such as I need a TT and have that schedule for November 25, 2008. Please give me any and all advice that I can hopefully lose a few more pounds before my surgery because I feel that after my surgery I am going to be just FINE with my looks. My Aunt is telling me not to get obsessive with everything, so I'm hoping that I don't do that. The main reason for my TT is I had a surgery when I was little that caused me to never have a flat stomach, before babies and size 1. I'm so looking forward to wearing jeans with a shirt "tucked" in with a cute belt.
  11. I would definitely have them redone. They should not be lopsided like they are and it isn't just a little bit its very noticeable. You spent good money on those things make the dr make them right.

    Fills?

That would be a Maybe. My sister in law and friend were banded three months after me and their insurance pays for fills at the specialist co pay rate. Mine on the other hand does not, and I'm in the appeals process now. Because they are saying they would approve the fills but not at the location facility I have to get them at. The location is an out of network facility and I do not have any out of network benefits....... I will keep you updated.

    Aetna PPO

I was just told by my HR dept here at work that they are going to cover my fills:clap2:, but they want me to go to the location where i had my original surgery which is an hour and half away. I find that very ridiculous since I live in the DFW area there has to be a in network facility somewhere closer. So we are researching that right now! Aetna never gave me a problem with approving the surgery, because I had sleep apnea. I'm doing much better since my second fill. This surgery is really going to work. I would do it over again and again.

I live in Texas. I too, was told that the fills are covered and now it's this big controversy. But I have my HR dept here at work assisting me in the process and hopefully they will get to the bottom of all the crap. I will keep you posted in what the status is. I am becoming well educated in this process and want to help anyone else with the same scenario.

It's been great! I had my second fill on Thursday, and I can definitely tell the difference. I just have issues with the insurance company not wanting to pay for the fills. They are $150 each time.
