Am i losing my mind?
Gitter Dunn replied to mittiga's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was sleeved 6 mo. ago. I have lost about 110 lbs since 1/1/13. I was a big guy like you and had post op concerns about losing a lifestyle. Well, you do....your fat lifestyle . I still go out and eat whatever I want, just less of it. It's really not that big a deal now. I don't drink beer or anything with carbination but i'll enjoy a cocktail. You will just know when that full feeling is coming and you stop. The only thing you won't stop is enjoying your new svelt you. I just ran a 5K and back in January I could barely make it up a flight of stairs. I went from 3X to now XL. Just get thru the first couple months of the adjustment with your smaller stomach then it's nothing but blue skies ahead. Good Luck! It will be all good my man. -
How long before others could eat bread. I am 9 months after surgery and still can't eat any breads etc
Gitter Dunn replied to Di Fanti's topic in Food and Nutrition
I'm 6 months out and have always loved bread products pre op. Post op breads, pastas, rice just don't appeal to me because of the fullness factor more than anything else. I will do a slice of WW toast with almond butter occasionally. My go to carbs would be crackers like rykrisp, akmak, melba toast with some kind of protein (i.e. tuna, cottage cheese, any cheese ). Haven't done popcorn but i plan to soon. I do also have a small bowl of high fiber cereal about 2 times a week . I fortunately tolerate everything well. -
Man parts, don't get me started. The loving ( post op) has never been so good in my entire 17 years of marriage. Yes siree!!

6 mos. out, what are you eating?
Gitter Dunn posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm currently about 5 months out and doing very well. I can eat just about anything but I still have refrained from steak, strandy foods like oranges, pineapple, grapefruit, asparagus etc. I will say i can live my life easily without those foods (my NUT advised me to stay clear of those for at least 6 mos during healing stage) but I want to get a feel from you 6 mos and further out sleevers when you ate anything you wished with no hesitation. And guys this is especially directed to you. What is you current calorie and protein intake if you are keeping track? I don't mean to sound discriminatory but I'm 6'4" 240lbs and would be interested in folks with similiar frames and their consumption. I do exercise 45-60 min a day and eat right now 1300 cals with ~80-90 grams of protein daily. -
I'm 20 weeks out. Celebrated my recent 100lbs. Loss with a couple bacardi and OJ's. It went down fine, held a buzz for a couple hours...no problems.

Always like the positive feedback. Especially from the ladies. Thanks All for the compliments. I never thought I would go through surgery to be where I am now but it surely is a life changer (saver) and I'm very thankful I've had no real issues like from some I've read. Modern medicine, good Doctors and work on my behalf has made my 2nd half of life horizon so much brighter!

3 things hmmm........... Monitor calories and Protein daily...a must (currently 1200 cals/ ~80g's) Exercise daily 30-60 min (maybe 1 day off a week) Adjust your attitude and embrace the new you, be honest with you and others about your journey.

As of today 8/25/13, 20 weeks post op I've reached the 100 lb lost mark from my heaviest of 344 lbs on 1/1/13. Feel great, no regrets!

Try chia seeds in the yogurts. It boosts a bit of protein as well as adding a different texture. Suggestion; mixed them in the night before giving it a tapioca feel if that appeals to your tastes.
-
Have a small glass you'll be fine. It will curb your craving, give you some vit. C then back to your plan. There is added sugar in juices of course but it won't sabotage your LIFELONG journey with your sleeve. We need to remember that this path we chose has changed us permantly and we need to now be more decisive in our choices from now on but not to deny us the good things God has provided for us to enjoy albiet in much smaller doses.

Any APRIL SLEEVERS? Let me know your progress !
Gitter Dunn replied to beachblondeee's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
They have C25K music programs that can make the sessions not so lonely. I listen to a indie christian program so i don't have to look at my watch during my walk/jog intervals. Very cool! -

Waiting to drink after food
Gitter Dunn replied to chibabyy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My Doc suggests small sips between bites to help food go down. This really has not been that big of a deal. Im 15 weeks out and i drink about 4oz right before i eat and drink about 10 min after. While eating, sips or nothing is really not an issue since i focus on the food.... Yummay!! I think we tend to over analyze everything little thing we ingest as new sleevers. Our bodies (stomachs included) adapt very well to its new changes. We just have to take things slooooow.
