So my insurance requires a drug test before I start my 6 months and I can't even have cotinine in my system..I occasionally have a cigarillo or a cigar and I had a few puffs of one last weekend so the coordinator said I need to wait 30 days before she does a urine test..I keep reading that it only stays in your system for a few days to a few weeks but I am not a hard smoker. Either she's making me wait 30 days to make me not smoke for that long or the online sites are wrong but I'm thinking of buying a home test and if I test negative call her and see if I can do this early cause I don't want to wait till the end of June to start things.

Mexico is something I don't want. I want something in my own state and in my town if I can where my family can be by my side. I don't want to take a plane anywhere and I've had friends get breast implants in Mexico and didn't like it. Ill pay more to stay put.

In the states. I'd never go to Mexico for anything

Had my first appointment today with my surgeon. My insurance requires a drug test and you have to be weed and tobacco free..I'm not a smoker but unfortunately I took a few puffs of my bfs cigar last weekend so I can't start my 6 months of dieting till its out of my system which takes 30 days soo yeah..I also have to stay away from second hand smoke. Good news is my insurance is really easy to work with and get approved as long as I test negative and do my 6 month diet! But ill prob start my 6 months beginning of July and I need to try and lose 20 pounds since most of my weight is my tummy. So mery Christmas to me? Lol

how much flabby skin do you have? I have to lose about the same -
Some insurances don't require any problems after a BMI of 40 but I'm not sure about kaiser. Mine is a tough one and requires everyone to have type 2 diabetes.

I have a BMI of 47 but my insurance requires all people to have type 2 diabetes but most insurances don't require any problems if you're 40+ BMI

Have you done the Akins diet before?

You have family who doesn't support your choice about this. My aunt is the only family I can rely on and lives near me. But she doesn't want me to do this. When ever I stay over I have to dance around the subject and hide when I'm talking on the phone about it. She thinks there are other ways and the risks and complications aren't worth it. Her opinion means a lot to me but I need this and she makes me question my self every time but every time I keep coming back to I want to get healthy and in order to do so I need restriction
-
I wish my aunt could go with me to my first appointment but its on a Tuesday morning so my bf is coming instead. I don't think a information seminar would have eased her mind..

If your insurance requires you to lose weight with the 6 month diet you can be denied. My insurance requires you to lose weight. Not sure how much but I'm sure ill be told on my first appointment this month. I'm told if you're at least close to the goal they let you slide

What brand of shampoo and conditioner do you use? -
I have my eval with surgeon may 21st. What was your experience with that? I have a 8 page packet to fill out and on it is a check list of some diets. I noticed I've only done a few of the ones listed. I haven't lost more than 20 pounds on the diets I have tried and I'm worried they are going to say I haven't tried enough..I know me well enough to know other diets aren't going to help..I need restriction, motivation and hope and I know this surgery will do that for me. There is also a page asking me to write why I want this, I'm wondering if I should write the whole needing restriction, motivation and hope in there

Medications post surgery?
NewAshes replied to Butterfly66's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I wonder about that too. I have ADHD and require meds to sleep at night =\ -
Yeah it's true, you're supposed to wait at least 30 mins after eating. It's going to be a real challenge for me cause the only time I really drink is with meals.

Any good recipe books for this surgery I can buy on amazon?

What's your personal pouch maker called? My aunt buys the veggie pouches and sneaks them into her cooking so my cousin gets his veggies in.
