Was anyone else told by their surgeon to try and lose a certain amount of weight? I was told to try and lose 20 pounds (10% of my weight) by the end and I'm really worried that I won't be able to do it and if I do I might gain it back before the last appointment. But I've never been able to lose that much weight. I'm much better at maintaining it. =\

Unjury has unflavored powder as well

Didn't they check your iron in the beginning. My first appointment was with my surgeon and she ordered blood tests. That was 2 weeks ago and I still haven't done it but I plan on fasting and getting it over with this weekend. You would think they test at the beginning so you can have everything fixed during your 3 or 6 month diet. Either way I'm sorry to hear you are going through this.

I'm assuming mine will be at the end since I have done everything else at the beginning.

I would advise getting a different psychologist if you can. What he says can mess up your approval. I wouldn't have been comfortable with that.

Congratulations! You look great!

If you have a 6 month diet required its best to add another month on top of that for the time it takes to schedule appointments and tests -
I have decided I'm going to tell everyone

Only my family knows right now..my aunt basically spilled the beans to the rest of my family but they are actually taking it well and some are really supportive. My aunt was against it at first cause she had to have a hysterectomy and it went horribly wrong. Her wound got infected and they had to leave it open for like a month so she is all about the complications and refused to believe I needed this. She's getting better with it though. My therapist encourages me to be excited about this and tell people but I'm a pessimist and always think something will go wrong. With that being said I want people to know what I am going through and hopefully encourage people to do something about their weight. I'm going to post it on Facebook but not till I have been approved for surgery! Besides..spilling the beans runs in the family and something this big is impossible for me to keep to myself lol. -

I would recommend waiting. -
So what vitamins will I need and should I even be preparing before hand or should I wait till I find out if I'm approved? Also I hear that you need liquid and chewable vitamins after surgery, does that apply to other meds as well? I take meds to sleep and I don't think they have those in chewies lol

what are your problem areas so far if you don't mind me asking? You started out a bit heavier than me but I assume ill prob need some too. -
I think everyone is scared for any kind of surgery. Just remember why you are doing this and keep your eye on the prize. What helps me is to think about after surgery. Being able to shop in regular stores and fit in regular shoes. Being able to do things you normally couldn't or had trouble with!
-
thanks looks like ill need a pill crusher. Do they give you your regular meds in the hospital? And do they crush them up?
-
how long does it take for b12 to dissolve? I have to take my bi polar and sleep meds for the rest of my life so I figure a few extra vitamins isn't a biggie. Thanks for the info!

My insurance requires a referral from your primary care. Then you go to the seminar. Some places you don't see the surgeon first but after the seminar I got a appointment with my surgeon for evaluation. Then she ordered blood work and cardiac clearance which is usually a treadmill test and a EKG I also had to do a drug test including nicotine. Then you see a dietician and usually a psychologist and sometimes classes that involve diet and stuff with the sleeve then sometimes they will do a endoscopy to see if you have any hernias, bacteria, ulcers ect. But it's best to ask your insurance where to start..also sometimes they won't tell you if they cover unless you have the proper codes otherwise they will just say I don't know. -

Wow great job! Thanks for the video! How tall are you? -
I've said a few times that I can't start my 6 month diet until I get a negative on the cotinine test (insurance required) and last week instead of waiting the 30 days since I had taken a few puffs of a cig 2 weeks before my first appointment so I decided to order a home test to make sure ill pass and I did so I told my coordinator to make the test for this Monday..well tonight I went out to sushi with my aunt and she totally forgot I can't be around second hand smoke and lit up a cig while we were in the car and I didn't even notice..she had the window down but I'm still worried im not going to pass..tomorrow (Sunday) ima see if any stores local carry cotinine tests and hopefully be at peace but its soo hard to stay away from second hand smoke and I feel hopeless and like its unfair because I don't smoke but my family and friends do. I am going to be so disappointed if I fail:( not sure what happens if I do and if I can take another test

No one told me it was contagious when my grandma had it a few years ago while I was living with her until now so I'm worried I might have it. I'm wondering do I go to my primary doctor and ask to test me or my coordinator? Or just wait till the end of my 6 months when they do the endoscopy.. But if I wait then ill prob have my surgery pushed back to treat the bacteria.

I was told it can be transferred through shearing food and shearing forks, spoons ect but doctors aren't really sure how it is really transferred
-
Not certain but they suspect it I mean and you will most likely get it if you live in a household with someone who has it
