Denise I am so sorry you are having so many frustrations in getting BCBC to approve I had BCBC Of Massachessetts at the time and they covered, but that was then and now I know they are bucking on a lot of people on getting approved. I will pray it gets approved for you soon. I agree with you, looks like your diet history of years of dieting and you family history of health issues would be plenty enough for them to approve. Good luck with it and hang in there, it will be SO worth the wait if they approve you!

Hi JennyWren, welcome to the TN forum. I have been very busy with life in general ( my dad just finished 24 rounds of chemo for colon cancer) and am now finally finding more time to contribute to this board. I have been blessed to have been banded since 2003, used Walter Rose, MD at Chattanooga, I live about halfway between Knoxville and Chattanooga, so not really too close to you but wanted to say hi. You will find the seminar very helpful in answering a lot of your questions. Good luck on your journey to getting banded and a new life!

Am I supposed to eat if I am not hungry?
LapBandFan replied to IntoLess's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Have you tried the SPecial K high protien waters? They are very tasty and would fill the bill for getting some of your protein in if you are not hungry. Just a thought. -
I wanted to pop in and say Hi from Sweetwater, (about halfway between Knoxville and Chattanooga) I used a surgeon at Chattanooga only because at that time (banded in 2003) it was the only one covered by my health insurance. Hope you gathered lots of useful information at your wt loss seminar and do feel free to contact me anytime and I will be happy to try to answer any questions you might have. Hopefully you will be in BANDLAND soon! Good luck. lapbandfan My blog with wtloss pics is at: Brenda’s Blog Look for lapband page at the top of the screen.

Well, life is starting to calm down for me finally. Daddy just finished his chemo  after being diagnosed with colon cancer in Sept 2007 and had to have emergency surgery to remove 4 feet of his colon. Chemo was started to make sure the got it all, etc. So life has been a roller coaster  and so not been here on the boards much. I hope to post more often here as this board is good for me for accountability and continued support. Goals for today: :biggrin2: Exercise for 45 minutes Drink 60 oz of water today. Snack only on healthy food if hungry between meals.

Hey all, I love this thread, I love this board and I love my band! I need to get on this board here and get back on track. I have been banded a long time ( banded in 2003) having lost 140 pounds but been plateauted off and on now for a while. I know the low carb eating is my best diet as it worked best for me before while losing the 140 and I am TIRED OF BEING PLATEAUED! I recently had a long talk with myself and decided since I am turning 40 in Sept that is a good goal to try to lose 20 pounds by then, (six weeks away) I was born on Labor Day, so a good date to shoot for. I enjoy reading all your posts here and want to say good job to all of you and encourage the ones who have not yet been banded. I pray it will happen for you as it was the best thing I ever did for myself. Take care and hope to fess up here daily on my intake, etc. I struggle mainly at night while watching TV and don't get enough water in. Two big goals for me there. I have rejoined Curves in April and have lost 10 pounds since then, so I know hand in hand with low carbing I will be successful for my first goal of 20 pounds by Sept. Thanks for having this thread for us!

Labor Day Weight Loss Challenge - Let's Lose Some Weight
LapBandFan replied to luvinke's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I just now looked and it is 6 weeks till Labor Day and I need a good challenge as I will be going back for my yearly weigh-in at my surgeons in mid-September and this challenge would be good for me. Who do I see about adding my stats to the list? To join? Thanks! -
I have been on the Lapband journey now for five years and curves was my starting place for exercise after surgery and I LOVE LOVE LOVE them. They are like having your own personal trainer and they weigh and measure you there once a month and the support is AWESOME. We are getting ready to get the SMART machines in our facility and I am excited about that. I will be honest, I left Curves for many months and tried to exercise on my own, walking on the treadmill at home and then joined the local gym (YMCA) but never was nearly as successful in losing as am when I use Curves. Good luck on your journey and have a blessed day!

Wanda, I know we all sometimes go through some times of depression of feeling down, been there and done that myself. I went through a phase right after my surgery of mourning my food, like a death in my life! I missed what I could no longer have. I know it sounds crazy but I did. God helped me through it as I looked toward the end of the journey of having this - a healthier me! I will pray God touches you today and lifts your spirit and gives you the reasons that it is worth having the band and no, I don't think it is wrong for you to focus on just you as your hubby said. It is a time of adjustment for you. Really, Just focus on the new skinnier you that is coming out of the shell. Try to visualize you looking hot as you already know you are on the inside! It helps me when I am feeling down to go out and do something nice and unexpected for someone else, like a random act of kindness that makes you feel good about yourself. God will help you if you ask him, I promise. I pray you see His promises today for your life and that you tell Satan to "get thee behind me" as the devil is just trying to get you down and kill you wonderful spirit. Take care of yourself and love yourself too! I will be praying for you!

Hey all, just checking in. :ranger: Got my first mug of coffee and thought I would touch base since I got all caught up in work yesterday. I am so excited that I am allowing God to help me this week stay on program with my eating and exercising, next I gotta work on keeping that up plus adding more Water to my daily life. I am generally following the weight watchers program with the exception of the band diet rules, and walking on the treadmill while watching Walk Away The pounds video by Leslie Sansone. What exercise do you all do? Got any pointers on getting all your water in? I just grow tired of water. I am trying to do better by getting it in by the form of green tea and sugarfree flavored fruit powders. Well, hope you all have a blessed day. I will be praying for all of you!

I know, I know don't I have anything else to do right now beside typing on this board? :typing: Yes, I do, but I needed a break from my job and thought I would pop in and see what is going on here... I have two praises to share as well... 1. My dad is to start his first chemotherapy treatment on this Thursday and we found out that it can be done at our local hospital and that it will be covered by insurance. PRAISE THE LORD! WHOO HOO,:whoo: Did you feel the earth shake just then? I thought so as I just did the happy dance! 2. My friend JR that I mentioned in a post earlier this morning just called me and her band is still in the right place and has not slipped! Praise the Lord again! Just had to share. I promise to get back to work now and leave you all alone! Thanks for praying!

Hi Crynside2bthn, welcome to our thread. This is a totally awesome support group in this Christian thread. God works through things like this and he will be there for you too! Yes, counselling was required for my band process. I was about 4 visits if I remember correctly and I am thankful they did. It was good for me to talk to the counsellor about all the hidden feelings I had about sneaking food, using it as my comfort crutch, etc. So I am all for couselling. Good luck on finding a good surgeon, please make sure he is board certified and ask how many surgeries like this that he has done before. If they get offended by you asking then I would be leery of using them as you as a patient have a right to know their experience with putting the bands in and if they know about them indepth. May God bless you as you step into the journey of bandland, best thing I ever did besides trusting Christ as my Savior and marrying my best friend.

Becky, Hey girl glad you posted sometimes you just GOTTA get those pinned up feelings out! It is good to share with us your daily worries and burdens, God will hear your prayers. It is a long journey in getting the band approved by insurance but it is well worth the wait. It was a lesson in patience for me. I will pray for you that God will give you the desires of your heart with the band getting approved and that He will give you assurance that it is what he has planned for your life and that he will give you patience as you wait. hang in there sista! God will never let you down! Keep on posting here, we all need the support and we are here for each other and happy to pray for you!

sfeiner - Sorry for your disappointment in getting your fill, but the best things in life are worth waiting for afterall! Hang in there Monday will be here quick! Bless you!

Eileen - Big Congrats on your new band! WOOHOO! It changed my life forever and I am so excited to say welcome to "BandLand" To all others who are struggling with finacial help in getting your band, keep hanging in there, do not let up on your pursuit with insurance. I called my insurance company once a week when I was trying to get approved. I had my physician write a letter of medical necessity. God was in it and He will help you if it is in HIS will to do so. I will continue pryaing for you all as you wait patiently. We are so blessed by God aren't we? I am so amazed every day at all the little things I forget to thank Him for. He is just awesome. I exercised 3 times last week and really watched what went in my mouth and lost 3 pounds. I know that is not huge but it is a start for me after many many months on a plateau. Please pray for my friend JR (her name initials as she is private) she is going today to our band surgeon as she is afraid her band has slipped out of place and will require surgery. She is having tons of acid reflux, stomach pain and constant spitting up of coffee ground emesis in her vomit. Sorry don't mean to be gross. I too get upset and am very saddened by the ones on this site who are athiest and don't know our wonderful Father. It is just so very sad. I will join you in praying for their much needed salvation. I pray God will reveal to them how bad they need HIM in their lives. Well, may God guide us today and may we LISTEN to his guidance as He helps us keep our diets in order, exercise as we need to and most of all HONOR GOD WITH OUR BODIES. Happy day! Lapbandfan

Cqqlgrl -Thanks for your inspirational post. God is good, he is helping me daily by keeping his arm around my shoulder and his hand over my mouth!! I am doing okay but am praying hour-by-hour as my old bad habits are wanting to take over sneaking food. I repeat the bible verse in my signature line about my body is now my own and I was bought with a price by the Precious blood of Jesus. I disappoint him all the time but I wonder if he got what he paid for in me? I pray daily that I am an example of his love to others and I am praying for all of you on this thread, the already-banded, the newly banded and soon-to-be banded and for those who happen upon this thread out of curiosity, I pray God will show his love through us to all those around us. I feel I have been commiting the sin of gluttony too long and need to keep up in commiting my ways to Him as it tells us to do in Proverbs. Well, take care and hope you all have a blessed day!

Dan,We will definitely be praying for you and Yes, God will be there with you all the way, that is just the kind of father he is! Isn't he just awesome!? I will pray God gives you patience as you wait on Wednesday to arrive and that he comforts you beyond measure during the recovery from the surgery. Praying for you... Lapbandfan

DEEZ9, On getting your insurance approval, I will pray that God will give you more patience to wait. I know the band was God-sent to me as I had prayed prior to getting the band that if was in Gods will for my life that he allow insurance to cover and it did, now I praise the Lord and thank Him daily for it. He is way too good to this child of his! I praise the Lord for what he is gonna do in your life! Keep the faith!
