Ladies... thanks for responding love the support you give.... Leatha, I hope that I do not gain during this time as well. I hope I have enough knowledge about how to eat now to continue the small portions and Water, etc. Thanks for your encouargement, it is good to know I am not alone in this slippage thing.... Paula...No we have not discussed a discount on this second surgery? Hopefully insurance will pay the majority as they did before. He said it had to be fixed one way or another insurance or no insurance approval, but he has a payment plan....we are praying to get approval though of course....He thinks I need to keep the band as long as possible due to my previous addiction to food....we will wait and see what Insurance says, if they do not cover, I may opt to remove it.... although I would hate to, it has helped me so much....thanks for your thoughts... DeLarla....Please note my name change...you are right, I have a negative outlook on me, will try to work on that one.... Thanks for your reassurance about the slippage, I realize there is the chance of erosion too, but I tend to blow things up worse than they are sometimes thanks for setting me straight,I needed that. Sorry you have been through so much, but you are a trooper and are like me and want this so badly.... proud of you and your perserverence through tree surgeries. I will pray for your healing on that problem wound that won't heal. Thanks again for your encouarging words..... Mary....thanks for your prayers...No time line yet, but you can bet I will be calling after lunch today If I have not heard back from the doc office, their insurance person is supposed to contact my insurance for me today and then let me know something within the next few days....hopefully we can get the surgery approved and scheduled soon as both me and my surgeon are worried about me getting dehydrated etc from the continued vomiting.... the unfill did not help apparently as I still had the vomiting last night too... thanks again for your prayers... -

Good Wednesday Morning folks.....First the only good news I got, I have lost 135.5 pounds now.....Now the bad new...I went for my unfill, and I do have a true slippage! My worst fears became reality. I questioned and cried and questioned the doc what had I done, but in his eyes, it was not anything in his opinion that I had done to make it slip, just the way my stomach is. Of course I fell apart and kept blaming me for it all, but he reassured me again. Next step is to go back in and do a revision surgery, just waiting now to see if the insurance will cover this one now. He said the voming was caused by the slippage, not my allergies draining and coughing although he agreed it did contribute to some of it. Long story short I am on the worry boat again hoping for insurance coverage for the revisional surgery. Now I ask that you say a prayer for me about this. He took out all of the saline from the band hoping this would help the vomiting for now but said he did not think the vomiting would clear up until we did the revisional surgery. Please pray that is soon, as he and I both worry about me dehydrating and the vomiting is just not any fun and not sleeping good for it.... Like I said, I had no symptoms of the slippage other than the sudden vomiting these last two weeks, so ya'll please take care of yourselves and your band. Thanks for your care and concern.... -

Thanks for all your prayers, I will post back on here tonight and share what is found today. I love the support of this group. Thanks and God Bless you all! -
I weighed 365 at my surgery date. I have never regreted having this wonderful surgery done. God has given me a new lease on life. Although I had no health problems before, I knew I was headed towards them head on light a car going downhill without any brakes! As the others have suggested, the yahoo group extraordinary bandsters is wonderful and so very informative. They are great to answer lots of questions and ease many anxieties I have had in the past. Good luck and YOU GO GIRL!

Clartiin -D is there a liquid form or would Mucinex work for my problem....
LapBandFan posted a topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I have been banded since Feb 2003,almost one year, and have been blessed to have lost 126 lbs thus far. I have allergies and lots of extra drainage lately and my lapband doc suggested me to use Claritin-D for the extra drainage. Well, long story short, I have tried to take them, but they are really big and I don't think they are going through my pouch. I have lots of drainage at night which leads to coughing which occasionally leads to throwing up which I know is a bad thing for a band patient, but it is beyond my control. Well, twice this week I have thrown up and noticed a white gel like blob in the vomit which I am assuming is the claritin D pill and that is not dissolved. I am frustrated and don't want to keep taking it if it is gonna not pass through or dissolve. Would Mucinex work for my allergy problems or is that pill just as big. I cannot break the Claritin D pill in half as it is time released and would release too much meds at one time in to my system. Any suggestions are appreciated. I am new to posting, so please forgive the length of this post... my allergies are giving me a fit with lots of drainage, but only at night causing the cough and leading to spit up and throw up. Long story short, I was taking Claritin-D but noticed when I would have throw up even hours after taking it, the pill would come up and still be whole and intact, making me think it wsa not going anywhere especialy not through the pouch. So I got worried and called my nurse. I have talked to my Band Doctor's nurses all week, she said to use guiafenicin and my regular Claritin together and if I am still doing these things come Monday, they are bringing me in for an unfill. Well I only have 1 cc total in my band now and don't have any throwing up during the day or with regular solid food so I don't see the need for an unfill. I am freaked out about this and don't want an unfill for fear I will start gaining weight back. The nurse says it is to let the mucus pass through and that he might not fill back again for 2 months! Would you suggest I refuse an unfill at this time. As I was under the impression you only needed an unfill if you ar too tight with all foods etc, with regular meals, during the day too, but as you see my problem is only occuring at night. I sit up and sleep in the recliner with some relief but it still happens with excessive coughing. Any suggestions before Monday are appreciated! Worried about an unfill....:cry Brenda 365-(227-current)-150 (yes, I dream big when I dream...)

In your opinion, unfill necessary?
LapBandFan replied to LapBandFan's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Thanks for all your advice. Blossom, I have wondered about allergy shots if they would do any good. I am so over this PBing and coughing and vomiting at night. I feel weak and shaky the next day as I am apparently not keeping enough down for nutrition sake. I am supposed to go tomorrow (Tues 1/24) for the unfill. I will keep you all posted. Thanks for your support. Love this board. -

Marie, I have been banded since Feb 2004, almost one year soon! WOO HOO! I have a current fill of only 1 cc total. We went with more back in the summer but it was too tight had acid reflux and did an unfill and now back to 1 cc and no more acid reflux. Thanks for your advice. I guess If I can talk the doc into not releasing all of it I will feel safer. Yes, I love my band and don't want to chance losing it. Keep me in your prayers. -

Kim, I was wondering if the Alavert oral dissolving pills did you much good with the mucus? I would think the D form of the drug would be better for this but I have searched online and only find the oral-dissolving kind in Regular Alavert not in alavert D. Please tell me where you found Alavert D in oral dissolving pill form. Thanks for the suggestions. -
