I use the Low-Carb Slim Fast shakes in a can, they are very good with strawberry, vanilla and chocolate flavors. They use splenda for the sweetner. Very yummy and loaded with protein. Nutritional stats for them one canned shake: Calories - 190 Protein - 20 grams Carbs - 6 Fat - 9 grams

I am looking for some carry-with me low carb snack ideas, any suggestions? Thanks.

I have been on a major plateau now since July, only losing 7 pounds since my last fill on July 6th. Does the Dr. Fox's Plateau buster diet really work? I joined the YMCA and have been walking 40 minutes on the treadmill and working out on the weight machines for 25 minutes 3 times per week. I try to drink 64 oz Water per day, but still the scales go nowhere! Any suggestions? Thanks

Ok I am over it now..... plateau

Thanks for your encouragement Vinesqueen and LaMadam. Guess I need to quit focusing on the scales so much. I am comparing me to the first year of surgery and was losing about 15-18 lbs per month that first go around before my revision surgery. Thanks again, and I will try to focus on how my clothes are feeling loose and the NSV that are still showing up. This board is great for support, thanks so much for listening to me whine! -
I meant to say too, you need to not drink anything with your meals whatsoever in order to maintain the full feeling longer and do not drink any liquids for at least one hour past your meal, this is how I maintain the full feeling for 2.5 hours. It is just one of the band rules that work for me. 130 pounds gone forever and counting....

Hey, I too have a VG band and am currently at 6 cc with wonderful restriction after only about 1/2 cup solid food which is great! When eating solid foods please chew thoroughly and do small bites. As far as how long it takes for the food to pass through....if I just eat solid foods and no liquids whatsoever in the foods (like no Soups, stews, chili liquids etc) the food stays in my pouch about 2 and half hours. If you are still able to eat as much as you say, you still must not have enough restriction. Because after eating the 1/2 cup solid food I mentioned, I feel satisfied not FULL in my pouch which feels like it is in the center of my chest actually. You should not get the golfball feeling only if you have eaten too big a bite or wrong type of food. You may need to ck with your surgeon about getting another adjustment with more in your band. Good luck....

The anxiety you are feeling is very normal and the extra eating is normal too. Please see my post and others regarding your questions at: http://www.lapbandtalk.com/showthread.php?t=5291 Congratulations and good luck to you! Will be praying for you!

Will anyone ever notice my weight loss?
LapBandFan replied to Alexra's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hey- Woo Hoo! Did you feel the earth shake? I just did the Happy Dance for you! 57 pounds gone forever!!! You go girl. I was the same way, felt like no one would ever notice my loss. You have made a tremendous accomplishment first off in deciding to get the band surgery and two for getting it done and three for becoming a real loser! Hee hee! People will start noticing it took me losing around 80 pounds before they started saying anything to me, so HANG on, the compliments are coming your way. You will see. Keep up the great work and hold you head up high and SMILE - you are becoming a gorgeous new person! God Bless! -
I am a late joiner to the summer challange. Joining today, July 7th, weight is 238. Goal is to lose 20 pounds by Labor Day. :eek I know, I know, how ridiculous is that goal? I set hard goals but want to be under 180 by Christmas!

Where do I post my current start weight for the challenge and post a pic? Thanks

Hey gals, I too have the VG band since Feb this year. My Doc put no saline in at surgery and waited 8 weeks postop due to swelling for my first fill of 4 cc. I has some restriction but not enough so I went yesterday and had another 2 cc put in. Of course I am on clear liquids today and tomorrow and will not advance to regular solid food till next week. I will keep you posted as to how the restriction is after I get on regular solid food. Please don't get frustrated because restriction is in site for us all , it just take some time to tweak it and figure out what fill is best for you. I had the Regular band put in Feb 2004 and lost 140 pounds with it then had slippage this past January and therefore was rebanded in Feb with the VG. So I am a living example that it works, just hang in there. Good luck to us all!

I currently have an 11 cc band since Feb 2005 and have virtually no restriction after one fill of 4 cc. I hope to schedule one this month. I am hungry too often after eating and can eat way too much as well. I have been rebanded having had a 4 cc band in the beginning (first band surgery) and had wonderful restriction straight out of surgery then and now miss the restriction. Yes, it will take some "tweaking" to get each person to their special spot with the band. Hold on and keep the faith, keep your doctors informed and they will soon get you where you need to be for sufficient restriction, I am waiting for that currently and patience is not a virtue I possess, so I find it hard to wait too.

I have been having a busy time with my job not been able to post in a while. Missed being here and keeping up with you all. Latest on me.... total loss was 138.5....I was rebanded for slippage in February 2005 and had my first adjustment yesterday with 4 cc instilled. Woo Hoo! Bad news is I had gained 10 pounds between surgery date of revision until yesterday :cry so now my total loss is only 128.5 pounds. My doc was not fussy at all about it he said that it ws normal to gain before the first adjustment. I guess I was not expecting to gain as with my first band (in Feb 2004) I had a smaller band, and had immediate restriction even without an adjustment. This new band is the Vanguard and is the bigger band and I can really tell it before my adjustment. Could eat way too much. I had no restriction whatsoever so I really needed the adjustment yesterday, hope that will be enough but he told me to call in about 4 weeks if I was not losing an average of 1.5 to 2 pounds per week. I need motivation to exercise now. My job is so busy but I know I need to exercise to jumpstart my losing again. I have to get back in the groove of exercising. Please help me get motivated! Thanks for letting me vent.

I have a friend who was banded 3 weeks ago and she does not have internet access.... her incisions are healing good, but all of the sudden she has a skin rash that itches really bad all across all her incisions. She hast not taken any new meds, ate any new foods, or switched detergents, soaps, etc, and is wondering what is going on. Anyone else develop a severe itching rash over just the incision sites? She does not have the rash anywhere else on her body. any suggestions are appreciated.

She was banded 4/11 and all incisions have healed up great, no weeping or draining whatsoever. Sorry, but she will not allow any pics to be posted she is a very private young lady. She had sutures not glue. Thanks for your info.
-
I will tell Jennifer what you all said about the hydrocortisone cream and use of neosporin. She is three weeks out so I don't think she would just now be getting the allergic reaction would you? Looks like she would have had it immediately had it been that. Oh well, thanks for sharing.

Any re-bandsters here? Had to have replacement band?
LapBandFan posted a topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I am a re-bandster and was curious if there are others here. I had my first band placed Feb 2004 and it slipped in January 2005 and had replacement Feb 2005. Would like to have a place for questions and discussions here on this board for just such folks (rebandsters) like myself. Thanks, -
