My surgery date is June 20. This week I met with my surgeon and I am good to go. No pre-op diet. My top weight was 311, today I am 280. I hope to get down to 160. I am 45yr old and have have overweight since about 10yrs old. I am so excited and scared to death at the same time. In all honesty, I am only afraid of failure. Afraid I will go through all this and work so hard just to find out the surgery doesn't work for me. This is as illogical fear. I'm glad to get it off my chest.

I had an oblation also. Best thing I've ever done. I had super heavy periods with big clots and terrible cramps. Now my period is really light. I don't need more than a liner or thin pad. Whoo Hoo!

Just got my date...... June 20,13. Dr Takahashi. -
I'm so happy for you! I am hoping to get my surgery date today. I started my journey 20 months ago. Went though the first 4 or 5 hoops and my cardiologist said "No". So it was on hold. Started up again 6 months ago with my cardiologists blessing. My insurance approved it earlier this month. My pre-op class at the hospital is schedual for June 3rd. Got a message from the doc office to call them back. I am sure it was the surgery schedualer. Whoo Hoo!!! Good Luck Flutterby!! I am so happy for you.

Anyone take a glucosamine chondroitin MSM supplement?
uccmart replied to maharet111's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
I have been taking Glucosamine for about 6 weeks. It has helped me tremendously. I noticed a differance after about a week. I would recomend it. I use a liquid verision that I buy at Costco. It is on sale this month for $20. The bottle is a 30 day supply. I am pre-surgery. I am asuming I will still be able to take it after. I do a lot of exercise and I would not be albe to do as much without this. -
Just found out today that my insurance approved the procedure. Excited to get the call to scheduale my surgery date!!

uccmart replied to lv2bfuny's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
HI Ln2bfunny -- I also go to Dr T. I have completed all my tests and the office should be sending my auth request this week. I can't wait. Do you have a surgery date yet? -
Hi Coykoi. I also go to Dr Takahashi. I had a heart attack 2 yrs ago. My Cardiologist cleared to start the baratric program in Oct 2012 (he had previosly said no the year before). I have completed all my testing and dr office should be sending my auth request to Anthem BC *** this week. I am super excited. I was hoping for end of May, but since the auth request has not been sent yet, maybe June. I really like Dr Takahashi. Good luck with your heart condition. I am amazed at how strong I am after Cardiac Rehab and regular exercise. I know exercise will always be an important part of my life to ensure I keep my heart healthy.

I called by doc office today and the auth hasn't been sent yet. I am so eager to get on with it. I know it will all happen in good time the way it is suposed to, however the wait is killing me!! Cynthia - Was it 2 months from you auth being sent till your surgery date? Oh my heck. The waiting!!
-
I have Anthem BC of CA ***. My docs office is supposed to submit the auth request this week. MY BMI is over 40 and I have co-morbidities, so it should be an easy approval. I can't wait to get my surgery date. I am so excited!!!

Who else is waiting on approval?
uccmart replied to jamari's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I just had a weight check today. Verified all my stuff in done. Already met with doc last month, so she just needs to write up the order. Sleeve and galbladder. Hope the send it out in the next few days. I have Athem Blue Cross of CA. I hear they are really quick as long as the docs office sends all the right stuff. I'm so excited. I was super nervious until a month ago when I met with the doc and she suggest the sleeve instead of the regular bypass. I researched it and feel much better about this procedures. Nerves are almost totaly gone and relplaced with excitment. -
I have Anthem Blue Cross of CA. My docs office called on Tuesday and said they have everything they need to submit to insurance. I am super nervous. My BMI is fourty-something and have co-morbidities. I can't wait. I am so excited to finally do it.

Anthem is very specific on what qualifies for the procedure. If the provider did not fully document all your co-morbiditiesm and 6 months of wieght checks, then they will deny. The doc's office just needs to get all the ducks in a row and if you truly meet the requirements, they will approve it.

Heart Attack Survivor Planning Bariatric Sugery
uccmart posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi Everyone, I am a 45yr old female who had a heart attack 2 years ago. My LAD was 100% occluded and was treated with a drug eluding stent. The cardiologist thinks my heart attack was from stress. I do not have a history of high blood pressure, high collesterol or diabetes. My heart has made a full recovery and my cardiologist has given his blessing to my having bariatric surgery. After my heart attack I was on Effient and asprin for a year and half, then Plavix and asprin for 6 month. I now only on baby asprin for blood thining. I also take medicine for blood pressure and colesterol even though those are not elevated. I am wondering if there is anyone out there who has had bariatric surgery after surviving a heart attack. My cardiologist thinks having the surgery is a great idea for me, but I would like to possibly hear other peoples experiences. -

Hi Butterfly. I still do not have a surgery date, but I have now completed all my pre-surgery junk. The docs office called today and they have all the paperwork ready to send to the insurance company. They say is usually takes 2 to 6 weeks for approval. I will get a surgery date as soon and the insurance says ok. Did you have your surgery? I am so excited for you. I know you will do great. This is a wonderful thing to do for yourself. Women always put everyone else first. Now we can put ourselves first! -

I don't have a surgery date yet. I have my psych eval on 04/16/13. That is the last thing I needed to do. Then they will send a request of authorization to my insurance company. I assume I will get a surgery date after they approve it. Hoping for May. -

Butterfly, I am so excited for you to get you surgery. Only 17 days to go! I have my psych eval on 04/16/13, then off to the insurance for approval. Not sure how long my carrier takes with the approval process, but I'm hoping to get my procedure in May. I will be rooting for you!!
