Hello my fellow sleevers I was sleeved on March 29th. I come from a hispanic culture where we love eating, especially carbs!! My highest weight was 325, date of surgery weight was 304, and my current weight is 269!! I'm 5'9". I would always use large beach towels after showering, but those are BYE-BYE, and will only be used for beach/pool purposes. As of 6/11/2013, I actually use a regular size towel, and it actually closes on me now (whereas a couple months ago, I had to use two!!). I'm happy
  3. I have a huge container of ISOPURE WHEy (unflavored) protein powder that I bought for $60 . I tried it once, and never used it again... I'll sell it to you for $30 shipped.
  4. Hello. I work as a PCT at a ER... I took 6 wks off only because our hospital is being bought out by another hospital and we will lose our FMLA hours. Yesterday was my first day back (I work 3p-3:30 am). My do told me not to lift no more than 10 lbs for the first two months. I felt fine at work just a little tired by 9pm since my bedtime was usually 8:30-10 while I was off work. I did sip a lot of Water throughout my shift but wasn't hungry at all but I did munch on cheese and Protein bars. I'm the type of person that miss working after 2-3 days, therefore I was really glad to go back!
  5. How long after surgery did you ladies continue birth control? I'm 5 wks out and I really do not want any surprises...

    Back to work!

So far it isn't bad at all! I took 6 wks off since I have FMLA paid hours so I took advantage of that ,) I'm just scared to push or lift more than 10 lbs...
  7. Today is my first day back to work since surgery, 3/29. I work 12 hour shifts in a ER...wish me luck!
  8. Today is my one month post op! I feel great, and have more energy! Since week 2 (post op) i have been hitting the gym and have been doing a combo of cardio & lifting (no more than 10 lbs per Dr. Order). My highest weight was 325. Day of surgery weight was 304, and today I weighed in at 288... Total weight loss of 37 lbs (25 since pre-op liquid diet). I am 5'9". Are there any other 3/29/13 sleevers on here?? Feel free and tell your one month post op story...looking forward to them! My before picture One month post surgery picture

    Post Op abdominal bruising

OMG, that's a lot of bruising around your incision sites...I don't think that's normal. I had a little bruising from the injection shots but nothing like yours...u should stop into your doctors office and SHOW your abdomen to him/her instead of doing it over the phone.
  12. I'm from Elgin . It's nice to finally know that someone is from the area . I honestly didn't need a drain nor a catheter placed...they did Intubate me as they do for all surgeries. Dr. Rantis told my family that he wished he would've used me as a demo because everything looked perfect & it went so smooth. I stayed in the hospital (alexian medical center) for 2.5 days. Sheri the nurse is great (from post surgical unit) as well as Annie and ray PCT. they will treat you will so much respect and Sheri was the only one that explained everything well and seemed that she truly cared (not just run out of your room). Is that will you be having your surgery done? I'm 3 wks post op and I truly feel GREAT...no complications at all nor bad experiences... I am still a little sore from the site where they took my stomach out of but that's normal since tissue and muscle is still healing. Keep me updated if u have any questions feel free to ask. Melissa.
  13. Hello ladies I used Dr. Rantis (the Kane center) for my sleeve and he did an awesome job!! I love that doctor and that group...I originally was going to go with the Lapband but I had a talk with Rantis and here I am sleeved! I do not regret it at all! I'm 3 wks post op (yesterday) and am down 27 lbs. I would look into the Kane center if you are from the Chicagoland/suburbs area...they are GREAT & treat you with respect.
  14. I am glad to see that someone is from IL using the Kane Center I had surgery March 29. Dr Rantis did my surgery from the Kane center...I love that group! Everyone is wonderful, it's a great group, and I heard they truly care about you (at least my doctor did). All the doctors that went to see me during my hospital stay were great (the Kane center works with a great group at the hospital as well) DO IT!! Pick the Kane center...I'm sure you won't regret it...I didn't. I'm 3 wk post op (yesterday) and I feel great!! Where are you from in the IL area??
  15. Everyone is different and not everyone experience the same symptoms... I hope we don't scare you.
