    June 2007 Bandsters

Hello, I haven't posted for a couple of years. I had my surgery on 6/27/2009. My weight the day of surgery was 326. About one year after I was down to 240. I am at 265 now and holding. I have only had 2 fills since surgery. I am not doing any of the things I am suppose to do. All I do is eat sweets and I know that is not healthy for me. I drink a lot of McD sweet tea and soups. I really miss eating. My husband is ready for me to take this thing out. I can only eat one bite or two of solid food. I am so afraid if I have the band unfilled or taken out then I will go up to 400 pounds. I know if I used this band as a tool then I would lose but evidently my addiction to food is more powerful. I know what to do but I am not doing it. How crazy is that?!!! Just wanted to vent. I am really happy for all those who have been successful with this. I wish you continued success. Hopefully I will finally get my act together. Snoopy

    Gained Weight!

I can't believe I gained weight. Yes I can, I have eatten like a cow. I am sure some of it is water but it really scares me. I am back to weight that I was when I went to surgery. I have gained 6 pounds. I am really really going to try harder today. I think I will get out of the house. That will make a big difference. I also think I will measure my food and only eat 3 meals today. I really have to get this together. What is wrong with me?:cry

    My Journey

I am 11 days post op. I haven't had much pain. I am on the mushie stage of the diet right now. I am having a hard time on the diet. I am eating stuff I shouldn't and way too much. I have had more problems with my emotions since surgery. I am really suprised by that. I lost 16 pounds on the pre op diet. Since surgery I have lost 4 pounds. I haven't started the exercise yet. Will try to start today. I am very glad that I had the surgery but I'm frustrated with myself for not following the diet plan post op. I'm glad to find a place I can write my feelings down. This may help.

I appreciate the support. You are right. There are so many more issues than just not feeling hungry. It did make me feel better reading your post:) I am going to try harder tomorrow. Probably need to get out of the house. I am off work right now and I am getting bored. That is always dangerous for me re:food. Thanks for letting me vent. Snoopy

I was banded on the 27th and I am on the mushie stage right now. I am eating things I shouldn't. I've had chicken salad today and for supper tonight I pureed hamburger helper that I fixed for DH. I know I am putting myself at risk for causing problems with the band but I can't seem to stop. I really don't feel any restriction at this point and I am wanting to eat reg food. My weight the day of surgery was 310. Today it is 304.2 I know what I have to do but I can't seem to get it together. I feel like such a failure right now. Snoopy

1 week post op and starving

I'm really having a hard time today. I was banded on the 27th. I'm on full liquids for a week and can go to mushie on Wednesday. I actually ate an egg today because I was so hungry. I think I chewed it a hundred times before I swallowed it!ha I can't believe I am already trying to cheat this. It sounds like everyone is going through the same thing. Just wanted to whine:cry Snoopy

I haven't posted in a while. My Mom was diagnosed with Lung Cancer and she is undergoing chemo and radiation so things have been crazy. She is doing great. I wasn't going to have the surgery but Mom and Dad and hubby encouraged me to have the surgery. I had the surgery the 27th. I was the first case. They sent me home around 1 pm. The pain isn't too bad. Just when I go from a sitting to standing position. I have been blessed to be able to sleep in my bed and actually on my side. I get to start on creamy soups today, ice cream, pudding. I am so excited! I actually lost 15 pounds on the pre op diet. I was only it 9 days. Well gotta go. I am driving my Mom to her radiation appt this morning. Please keep her in your prayers. Snoopy

I am asking for everyone's prayers. My Mom was told friday that she has a mass in her right lung. She is scheduled for biopsy Monday. Please pray that it is benign. I am thinking about canceling my surgery. I have gone from excitement from awaiting my band surgery to being in the most horrible nightmare the last couple of days. I am a woman of faith I am trying to focus on only positive things for my Mom. Thanks for letting me share. Snoopy

    June 2007 Bandsters

It is so good to hear from all the June bandsters that have already been banded. I am so glad that all of you are doing well. It's good to hear about your experience of not wanting to eat more. That is what I am looking forward to. I am really going to have to start some new hobbies because most of my time is revolved around work and food. :cry Good Luck to all the banders today. What an exciting day. I think this is the record so far for banders in one day!:biggrin1: Will be looking forward to all of their post. Well have to go to work now. Will check in tonight to see how everyone is doing. Have a Great Day! Snoopy To be Banded June 27th

    Anyone Out There?!?

:DI am so excited for you!. Thanks for the private message. I tried replying to that but I must have done something wrong because it wouldn't go through. I have tons of questions for you. I don't want to overwhelm you. You let me know when you are up to the task. I am so excited that you are going to be in bandland. This forum has been so helpful. I have been posting a lot on the June Bandster forum. They have been very supportive. Looking forward to hearing about your success. Soon to be banded! Snoopy

    June 2007 Bandsters

It's great to have all the newbies for June. Congrats. I am so excited for everyone. It's amazing how we all have the same feelings pre op. I have told my parents and sister about the surgery. They are so supportive. My hubby is the biggest supporter. I'm not sure who to deal with this with my patients. I work in a cardiac rehab so I see these patients 3 days a week. Some of I have worked with for years. They are like family and I know they will wonder where I am. I am actually taking off 2 1/2 weeks. I really hate to lie. Toni: Keep up the great work. I know it has to be a struggle when all you can have is liquids right now. I am praying for you. Can you drive yet? I haven't heard about the restrictions on driving from anyone. Good Luck to all the June 6 banders! There are a lot of you. June 27th seems so far away. This is worse than when I was a kid waiting for Christmas morning!ha Thanks again HT for the calendar. Have a Great Day everyone!! Snoopy:D To be banded June 27 - Louisville Kentucky

Toni: Are you feeling sick with the liquids or just wanting more? I know getting use to the band is not going to be easy. Maybe hubby can get you out for a ride to help take your mind off it. I know God will give you the strength to do this. He is giving all of us the strength to do this. Crabby54: It sure has to be frustrating for you trying to get all the appts in before the preop. It will happen! I think we are being banded on the same day! I am so excited. Like you I am having a big binge weekend! I think I will go on liquids starting June 15th. That is my pre op day where I will find out more. It sounds like your MD's are making sure everything is OK before the surgery and that is a good thing. I hope Kt999 and Nvalicia post soon. MM: sorry you have had such a bad experience with your care. When you feel like it, I would call and/or write to the chief nursing officer of that hospital or clinic and tell them about your experience. I am still working on trying to get my ticker posted. Well gotta run. Snoopy

I was really excited to hear from HT, and Lisa H. I was like Toniteach yesterday. I think I was on the computer most of the day waiting to hear from you guys. I am so glad it is going well for you. I hope musicalmomma is doing better. I haven't seen a post from Kt999 or Nvalicia. I pray they are doing great also. Congrats to tanderson, lisamack, huntersmom, and serena who will be in bandland tomorrow!:clap2: HT, I love the calendar. I hope it is not too much trouble for you to keep up with. I've been writing everyones name on my calendar. It is so nice to have such support when going through this. By the way, I have been eating all weekend!. Today's my birthday and I have been eating like crazy:eek: My favorite is white cake and white icing. My parents brought by a cake yesterday for me. They wanted me to have a big blow out before my surgery. The cake is almost gone:faint: I promise I will do better tomorrow. Everyone have a great day! Snoopy

Toniteach, I work in a Cardiac Rehab. Generally we tell post op patients to just walk around the house or in the yard and not on TM. Maybe you might want to start a few times a day of walking around 3-5 minutes then as you feel like it add more time. As you start feeling stronger and less pain then I would suggest starting on the TM at a very low setting for maybe 15 minutes and then adding time as you feel like it. This is just my opinion, you may want to call your center and see what there recommendations are. I am so proud of you! I hope my recovery goes as well. Snoopy:clap2:

I hope you don't mind me posting here. I saw this forum and wanted to know what it is like 1 yr after the band. Melissa Lea you look fantastic! I hope I have great results like you. I think I was a little bit shocked after reading some of the postings. It still seems that I will be struggling with the same issues I do now of feeling hungry and wanting to eat 1 yr from now. I know the band is just a tool, but I was sure hoping that I would not focus on food and wanting to eat all the time. :nervous Current Weight 325 , 5'7"

I couldn't wait to get home today from work to see if you had written anything about your first day with the band. I hope things are going great for you. I hope you have some family or friends who are helping you. It was so sweet of Heather to update the calendar before she left today. I hope we here something from all of them tomorrow. Again, so glad you are back home!

Congrats on getting your surgery scheduled:clap2: It's a big relief when you finally get the date. There are so many feelings. I wished mine was sooner. I am not scheduled until the 27th of June. Are you on a liquid pre op diet now? I'm not sure if I have to or not. I have my pre op visit on June 15th so I guess I will find out then. :nervous

My surgery is scheduled and I am excited but also nervous. I have been reading the forum for hours and it has been very helpful to see all the support that everyone gets. My surgery is in Louisville, Ky with Dr. Olsofka. I have my pre op testing June 15th. Not sure if I am suppose to be on liquid diet prior to surgery. I guess I will find out all the info on the 15th. Thanks for reading!

    Anyone Out There?!?

Hello! I am scheduled for surgery June 27th at Sts Mary & Elizabeth Hospital in Louisville Ky. Dr. Olsofka is my surgeon. I'm wanting to know if anyone else out there had surgery at Sts Mary & Eliabeth and what their experience was like. I am getting anxious. I am spending hours reading everything on these forums to find out as much as possible. Thank you.
