At What Weight Limit Did You Say "you Have Had Enough"?
takingbackcontrol replied to Gonnabeslim1day's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Mine wasn't a number, it was a culmination of many things. I tried South Beach twice after New Years. The book says the first 2 week killer phase should bring about 8-13 lbs weight loss. I never cheated and threw my all into it, and I lost 3 pounds each time. I went to my dr in tears and begged for help. I'm turning 50 next year and I think it's a bit of a mid life crisis thing for me too. I have started avoiding social things, staying in more,, avoiding photos, and totally shaken by seeing photos of me. Something just clicked and I was truly just fed up with the whole thing. I recognized with the 2 south beach experiences that something was just not right with my metabolism and I needed to try something else. My doctor suggested surgery and I knew that was the answer. My sleeve is this coming Tuesday, looking forward to my new life with excitement! -

June 2013 Sleevers GROUP
takingbackcontrol replied to Museum-Mama's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Checking in, looking forward to my surgery next Tuesday the 18th! Who else is on the 18th? I know some have been moved back and some have joined us. I'm doing the preop diet this week, high high Protein but not just liquids. Everything is from my drs office food store, mostly shakes, bars, and a decent "real" boxed dinner like a frozen dinner. I'm so surprised that I haven't felt hungry eating 800-900 calories a day! This protien stuff is where it's at for feeling unhungry. I have a sense of peace and calm, no more anxiety. I feel very confident in my doctors skill and the rest I have placed in Gods hands, and a peace has grown in me, so I am just ready! Dreading the 2 weeks do liquid diet more than the surgery:( Let me know how all my 6/18 partners are doing, and good luck everyone!! -

Butterflies and Rainbows with our American Drs.
takingbackcontrol replied to NtvTxn's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
OP, I am very new here and I have actually found some good advice over the past few months from you. However, something has changed of late, including this post and the other offensive "cant fix stupid" post. Not sure what's changed or what's going on with you but your tone has really changed in the past couple weeks. You are 3 years+ out, why the heck are you going onto a friendly forum and stirring the pot now? You should be blissfully enjoying your success and not even giving a thought to this forum at 3+ successful years. Enjoy your success as you have, but the negativity and name calling aren't welcome here. I respected you as a poster I always read, but you have completely changed that in the past couple weeks with your venomous posts. Do you need some support too on an issue that's driving all this pot stirring?? -
Anyone have a good recipe for egg drop soup? I would love one!

What is/was your pre-op diet? Please share.
takingbackcontrol replied to BloomingFaith's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Mine is a collection of bariatric items that add up to about 900 cal. We buy them from the dr office. Breakfast is oatmeal, dry cereal, owlets, or wierd little pancakes. Lunch is soup or pasta meals. Dinner is a prepared frozen dinner type of dinner. Plus protein supplement snacks. -
Tips on buying a used elliptical?
takingbackcontrol replied to takingbackcontrol's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Great, guys! This is exactly what I was hoping to get, thanks so much. I've been watching Craigslist but nothing too good right now. I imagine you can buy a good hardly-used one since people buy them and don't end up staying with it. I'll just keep stalking Craigslist, I appreciate the brand info:) -
Tips on buying a used elliptical?
takingbackcontrol posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Can anyone give me any tips on buying a used elliptical? Specifically what bells and whistles to look for, good and bad brands, etc. I think $1000 would be close to my budget... Hope that can get something decent. Thanks. -
Bitchy, cranky, sad, and annoyed
takingbackcontrol replied to Reyrey's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If you can drink milk, I read that you can add dry milk powder to it to make "double milk" and double your protein. -
Can't yet have bread, but...

Hey newat52, would you mind sharing your sauce recipe? I've always used jars and added to them, but I'm going to start making it fresh. -

Oh, that cardiac stress test is the worst! I had one years ago when I had a very bad tib/fib fracture and couldn't do the "normal" walking one. It's awful! -
Am i the only one w/o a scale?
takingbackcontrol replied to a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Weighing myself when dieting was always a catalyst to giving up or cheating. If I felt I had been doing really good and the scale was disappointing, then I'd give, get pissed off, and have a treat. Over and over and over . Once I've had surgery I plan on once a week max, that's one of my rules I will not break. -

what is the big hype with greek yogurt?
takingbackcontrol replied to ********'s topic in Food and Nutrition
If its just regular yogurt with the Water taken out, how does it get more Protein? I remember letting reg. yogurt filter through a sieve to make "yogurt cheese" but I'm not getting how that can possibly increase the protein?? Not being a smart-ass, I really don't know:) -
Finally received my date today, it's June 18! It took so long getting the approval faxed and communicated! It was approved at BCBS of Illinois on 5/29 and just today my drs office emailed to set up the surgery date:( Anyway, NUT and exercise dude on Monday, pre op diet for a week, then surgery:) I have Dr. Foote in GR.
