takingbackcontrol replied to Gardengirl's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Also, if anyone would like almost full cases of the Premier Protein shakes from SAMs Club, I have almost a case of vanilla and a case of chocolate that I'd give if ou pay shipping from Kalamazoo. -

I only had a 1week preop just due to when surgery and the preop visit were scheduled. I had a low BMI and did not do all liquid, I did as described with bars, meals, and snacks. Avoid the soups at all costs, trust me. -
I'm 7weeks and have good and bad days. I Ana artist with my own biz, and I am busy all day, but around 4:00 I just kind of wither. I tend to go to bed at least an hour earlier than pre op. I keep waiting on this big increase in energy that people talk about to happen, for me it hasn't happened yet. I walk 30 minutes almost every day and that feels like that is all I can do at this point.

The preop is all their food, so if you stick to it, you really don't cheat because its all theirs. Also, they know what outré eating and can tell by your weight if you've varied from the plan. The NUT will go with you through ordering foods from the store to cover the 2 weeks and then you get them at the end. IMO, stay far away from the broccoli cheese Soup and most Soups. The meals are pretty good esp the pot roast is very good. Most of the bars are decent. Jello is jello. You will get through it, it's much easier than the liquid post op two weeks. -

Surgical recovery was a breeze, very easy. I ended up with lots of issues regarding intolerance of whey Protein and lactose, so still dealing with diarrhea almost every day and having to work around that, it the surgery itself was pretty good. Had some shoulder pain early on but it passed in the first couple weeks. Just trying to figure out all the waging and getting protein in. I have been released to "all foods". - yay- but in order to get in the 60g of protein, you really can't enjoy much of anything else anyway:( -

I'm an artisan. I own my own biz and create and market coastal home decor, and sell it on Etsy and my own website, beachgrasscottage.com. I'm in Michigan too! This is a fun topic! -

How are you doing adargie? Congrats on a date, gardengirl. I had dr. Foote also and he's just great. 7 weeks now and starting to feel pretty good, except diarrhea issues that we're working on. -

Help please, can't get protein, food intolerances
takingbackcontrol replied to Sleeveland's topic in Food and Nutrition
I have similar issues, 7 weeks out. I have been able to tolerate Jay Robb egg white Protein in vanilla if I mix it with iced coffees. Otherwise, Peanut Butter is great protein and easy to get down, just lick it off a spoon. I have also had good luck with the roast beef inside of Arby's sandwiches, easy, thin, and lots of protein. I hope you find some help here, I feel your pain as I am experiencing most of it too. -
Depressed, disappointed, regretful...

Yes, give it time, you will get there. I am 7 weeks out and I still feel yucky on some days... Is this normal? I can tolerate eating but have low energy most days. Also struggling with diarrhea all the time, ugh. So, can you tell me also that it will still get better in time? -
I have seen this type of thing at TJMaxx too, thinking of trying one:)

6 week post op pic...LOVING my SLEEVE!
takingbackcontrol replied to NewSetOfCurves's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Glad to hear it Curvy:). We have very similar numbers across the board. I am just beginning to feel human this week. I go in for the dr. Visit tomorrow and can't wait to be released to more foods. Totally over the cat food diet!!! I've had a lot of trouble with shakes and lactose intolerance. Diarrhea all the time, ugh. This week my energy seems to finally be reappearing and I don't feel like #%£¥ anymore, so hoping I've turned the corner. It's been pretty rough. -

Using egg white Protein shakes but they do the same thing as the whey ones. I'm still on purée til I go in tomorrow, so just getting in the protein grams has been a challenge, so I have used cottage cheese and little bits of cheese. Can't wait till I have the go ahead for all foods so I can get my Proteins from more diverse foods and dump the shakes in the nearest trash, lol. Lynda, when were you able to add in cheeses again? Most people sound like its a temporary thing. -

I just don't understand the constipation thing. I'm 6weeks post op and I have yet to have a solid BM. Total diarrhea all the time. Protein shakes take about 10 minutes then I'm in the bathroom, lactose intolerance too. I'm hoping to get to just a solid BM soon. -

Hey, surgery buddy! You look great!! How much have you lost? I've gotta get some pic on here. I've had a lot of food and Protein intolerance that has made it a bumpy road, but I'm down 27 pounds:) -

Grams of protein
takingbackcontrol replied to SimplyFAB's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm in that boat too. The Protein shakes make me sick and cheese gives me intant diarrhea. Lactose intolerance. My mainstay is meats. Deli meats, the insides of Arby's sandwiches, gyro meats, chicken, pork tenderloin. I can do cottage cheese and/or greek yogurt on a good day. I'm 6 weeks today and going in for checkup in a couple days. Hoping they add eggs, nuts, and some other things cuz this very limited menu is getting old. -

Tired of being sick and tired - 5 weeks
takingbackcontrol posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So I'm 5 weeks and feeling regret because I can't seem to get over major digestive issues. Frankly I'm just sick and tired of being sick and tired. So I started off not tolerating whey, major diarrhea. Ok, tried a bunch of them and ended up with egg white Protein which tastes ok, but I can only stomach one shake a day. That one shake still is proceeded by liquid diarrhea. Next, they check for C Difficile. Negative. Nurse says take Imodium. Now it appears to also be lactose intolerance, now that I'm having cottage cheese and some cheeses. Switched to lactaid milk, same results. Liquid diarrhea following everything I eat. I run my own business so I am being active but then fizzle out and hit a wall with fatigue in the early afternoon. dinner comes, more diarrhea, and just weak and worthless the rest of the day. Rinse and repeat for the next day. Used Imodium intermittently and it did help but I'd be taking the max every day so this week I tried lactaid tablets with the milk things and nothing changed. I get the diarrhea really after eating ANYTHING, even if its meat, fish, etc -- not just with milk based things. So, I guess I'm asking if this can really be normal in the early weeks, and if so, when is it going to be better? I'm trying to remain in good spirits about it, but it's getting really old and I feel so weak and tired all the time. I've lost 23 pounds, which sounds good, but when you consider how many calories I'm eating and how much diarrhea I have, it seems like the loss should be more. I'm not even focusing on the weight right now, I just want to feel good. Can anyone tell me if they went through this long of feeling crappy, and when it finally gets better? -

That sounds awful. I'm afraid they will find a reason to hospitalize me when I go for my 6week check next week. Fortunately I haven't vomited, only once a bit with sliming when I ate too big of a bite. I wish you luck too, it's nice to hear you're not alone, and I hope it improves for both of us:) -

I'm wondering about fiber gummies or chewable a... Is this something others are told to take? Fiber has not been mentioned to me at all, even with several phone calls to the dr office about diarrhea. -

Eating more than I want in order to get the proteins goal in
takingbackcontrol posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I don't know if I'm doing this right or not, but I am in constant conflict. I am a month out, and I find that I always eat more than I want to, because I have that 60g Protein goal in my head that just hangs over me like a cloud! I can stomach only 1/2 to 1 scoop of Protein shake a day so I feel like I'm overheating in order to get all the food in that I need to make the protein goal, and obviously that isn't right. It's not a lot of food really, no more than a half cup, but it's more than I WANT, and then I feel overfull and bloated. Like right now, I want to go to bed, I'm full from my meal hours ago, and I still feel like I have to try to drink a cup of milk to get to goal..... So which is it, eating the way I want and stopping when full, or forcing it to get the protein in? It's becoming a conflict every day:( I'm gonna give up on the milk for tonight but will check in in the morning, thanks:) -

I will try one. NtvTxn. I've got to try something as I'm just eating to overfull to try to get the protein in. I can't tolerate the whey shakes at all - bloat like you wouldn't believe -- but maybe I can tolerate 3.5oz to get 42g protein. Gonna head to GNC today and see if they have any other advice too. -

Yes, I haven't heard much good about those little shots, but she obviously did a lot right if she made goal in 6 mo and never lost her hair. I can't do whey anyway, that's part of the problem. All the "old standby" products are whey and I was miserably bloated and sick on the whey shakes. I can tolerate vanilla egg white Protein, but as I said, no more than 1 scoop daily. Hopefully when I'm allowed to have "real" food it will be easier by supplementing with a bar or other bariatric protein foods but right now it is a struggle, not knowing which to favor - getting protein in or not feeling like I've overeaten.
