Fiddle is right as usual. Walking is my primary exercise at this point, 9 weeks out. I felt like crap with very low energy up til about 7 weeks, but I was walking as much as I could. I had digestive issues/lactose intolerance. Some days I couldn't even get out, some days I walked 10 minutes, some days I could do almost a half hour. It's going to vary, and actually my energy still varies from day to day. Do what you can do and be easy on yourself, it will come with enough time:)

I was doing fine so my surgeon took me off at 6 weeks... I immediately started feeling the acid and the "fake hunger" feeling that comes from not being on it, and I went back on it, just 20mg a day. I think it really helps and am in no hurry to be off of it.

takingbackcontrol replied to Alimac-2007's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Just had a two week stall, ended it by adding calories from around 900 max p to about 1200... Not necessarily good-for-you foods either!! June 18 for me, down 35 pounds. Can't do shakes or much lactose. Greek ought, lots of meats, Jerky, cottage cheese, lunch meats, some cheeses, Peanut Butter, Special K Protein Cereal. -

Denise can you share your usual diet? I'm struggling with this too, at 9 weeks. My nut says to stay under 900 cal a day and I find it hard to do, I'm hungry again. What is or all calories at 9 weeks? -

Multi For "Veterans"

Many including myself have been recommended Flintstones Complete (childrens). You chew 2 a day and they are often on sale at Walgreens, etc. for $3-4 a bottle. -
Diarrhea and nutrient absorption
takingbackcontrol posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So, I'm 7weeks post op and still having daily diarrhea, sometimes up to 6-8x a day. I'm lactose intolerant so those things will cause it, but sometimes it happens with meats and other non-lactose foods. I'm wondering if all this diarrhea will have an effect on the absorption of nutrients for me? Often the diarrhea follows a meal after only 5-10 minutes. So far my labs are fine but wondering if this is going to be a problem. My surgeon says no one really knows how long nutrient absorption takes and just wants me to take Immodium or Questran, guess I'm going to have to break down and fill the nasty Questran script:( Does anyone have any info in this issue? -
Another stall!
takingbackcontrol replied to ladylaura's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Me too exactly! I'm at 8weeks too and have been stuck for the last two weeks. Maybe there's something about 8 weeks, like the famous 3 week stall??? I never stalled then, this is the first and it's making me crazy!! -

Teeth correction needed as a VSG vet?
takingbackcontrol replied to Fiddleman's topic in WLS Veteran's Forum
Vsg and weight loss is actually causing a dental problem for me. With all the Water were supposed to drink, I had been drinking diet green teas or waters with Mio or Crystal Light etc in them because I can't stand plain water. My last trip to the dentist, she pointed out to me that the enamel was wearing off of my front teeth and there is now wear and pitting on my front teeth at the gum line. The culprit is citric acid, it's in EVERYTHING you would ever put into a water. I had quite a habit with the Lipton diet green tea and that started it. Now I have to go and get those teeth filled, and really have to watch what I drink, it is SO limiting because citric acid is in literally everything!! I have to do plain water, or sometimes I add a splash of fruit juice into it. I limit any additives like Mio etc to one every couple days. Just a warning to others. When enamel goes, you can never get it back. -
I had the same thing too, but now at 8 weeks its gone, so I'd say you're normal:)

Thin crust pizza!
takingbackcontrol replied to ladylaura's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I personally don't see anything wrong with enjoying a piece of thin crust pizza with the family once a week or so. If you have protein on it, it's not a no-no. I don't get why many here are so hyper about having a slice of pizza. I'd much rather have 1 modest piece do thin crust with ham than go through making and trying to stomach cream cheese crust or cauliflower crust pizza, ugh. -
I wanted to ditch the shakes and also am a bit lactose intolerant, so I eat lots of meats. Deli meat, turkey Jerky, for Breakfast a skinny English muffin w cheese and sausage, pork tenderloin, chicken, taco meat, steak. I do Greek yogurt, Protein bars, some fruits and veggies and whatever the family is having for dinner. Tonight I had a small piece of pepperoni pizza. Can't wait til I can tolerate more cheeses, they are great easy protein.

Extended release pills (XL) and the foamies
takingbackcontrol replied to karpouzian's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have always had trouble with this pill. I take it too and have seen it come out in the potty in its original form too. There are lots of "generic" manufacturers of this pill out there, and they are under no regulations about what binders they use and how the pill breaks down, so some of them do not break down well. Like I said, I've seen my pill in the potty. It is a yellow oval pill that I've had trouble with in the past. On my last visit to m y surgeon, he changed me to a 150mg BID dose that was not sustained release, said it was easier on my stomach. Things that make you go hmmmmmm. -

Hiatal Hernia Repair with Gastric Sleeve
takingbackcontrol replied to AmyInOrlando's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I too had hernia repair and no symptoms. I had terrible pain across my shoulders, back, and in my chest post op for almost a month. The incision pain for the sleeve was nothing. I'm at 7weeks now and starting to feel like my old self with the exception of ongoing diarrhea issues. It takes a while. I too am tired of hearing about miraculous recoveries, mine certainly wasn't. Just now starting to feel good and have some energy.
