Laproscopic sleeve gastrectomy
LINDANACK replied to Philly90's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hi, you're going to need Probiotics for the stomach churning. Drink liquid protein from GNC store, it's good, also, as much water as you can handle. Good Luck! -

Hi Rich, how did you lose so much, it wasn't just by dieting, what else did you take? I had my surgery same time and I've lost only 68 lbs. I want to lose more and faster, what's the secret? Linda -

Hi,I'm 65. Had the sleeve done 12/19 this yr. I had stomach problems all the way through. I discovered my stomach flora is too acidic since my surgery and I'm doing everything I can for it at present. I'm on a probiotic and I just read the book, "60 Seconds to Slim". It tells you all the things you need to eat to reduce acid, lose weight and the proper nutrition necessary for weight loss. These days I'm feeling better and losing weight is now easy. I've lost 70 lbs. so far, only have to lose another 150 lbs. As you see, this is a life altering process. The good side is that I have been writing to an old flame of 50 years ago and he wants to go out with me, and he's seen my picture too. How do you like that?

Best self-pay price in Southern California?
LINDANACK replied to ProudMama's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I had the same trouble with my insurance not picking up the GS. I just waited. Yours will get on board too, it's the most popular of all and the safest, they have to get on board. -
Almost at maintenance...and I'm super scared!
LINDANACK replied to Sweetcarol238's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Almonds very good for you, but organic please. Pumpkin seeds and brazil nuts and walnuts all very healthy choices. Good for you on the weight loss. I'm only down 60 in 5 mo. I must be cheating. -
Nothing is stopping you from changing Drs. Your paperwork should be transferable.
-
I drink 50-60 gr of protein a day. You'll get your energy back and you won't lose your hair. We need as much protein as we can consume after this ordeal.

Shooting pain..left side incision..what can it be?
LINDANACK replied to dat_sweetmami's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Don't worry about not being able to eat, you won't starve. Your body requires very little to survive. As for the pain in the left side, I've had that for 4 mo. already, Just guessing, I think the rod they put into us must lie on top of our spleen. By letting it lie ther during the whole operation, that organ feels abused. I'm guessing of course, but it is logical. Eventually it will lessen. -
Weight gain six weeks out...
LINDANACK replied to Hopeful in Rochester's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
How about inches lost, are you watching that? Sometimes the scale takes forever to drop down so look at the inches lost and if they are coming down, then just hang in there. It will come. -
Are you drinking 50-60 oz. of protein a day?

Has the sleeve not worked for you?

I'm sorry to admit that this operation was indeed a big mistake for me. I don't wish to expand on it for fear of daunting others hopes. -
Two and 1/2 Years Out, Life is Great, but have one Question
LINDANACK replied to mmcclure's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hi Marilee; I too am a bad diabetci and I still can't get mine under control. It's been 4-5 mo. already. I too, have sugar cravings to kill for. I saw a Health sponsored documentary the other night and I wish you would have seen it too. It told how the gov't is politically orchestrayted by big industry like McDonalds, the beef industry, the sugar cane industry and all the different soda industries and how they have, over the last 28 years, turned America into sugar 'attics'. It gave statistics on obesity, child obesity and how diabetes is at an all time danger for our children. It stuned me to see how big business does not care about our children, let alone, us. They are doing their level best to get us hooked early in life, and keeping us hooked. It was enough to make you cry, rape! Rape of our innocense, our trust in Gov't to stop them, rape of children to look to their of future with hope for normal nutrition in the schools, at home, and at the local stores. So you see, you are caught up in that sugar addiction and you need to get off it. 2-3 days without any sugar will set you back on the right track. Carbs will raise your blood sugar too. You don't need sweets. As for your glucose rising to 179, well it will after you eat all that sugar. As long as it came down again, that's what is imp. Just try to give up candy. I go for long periods and then fall again too. Also, I read on one of those health letters that if you crave sweets, you're lacking Chromium, carbon Phosphorus,Sulfur, and Tryptophan. It works. Good luck. -
Dark ..bruise like markings on the side of my stomach?

This is my life..... Just get over it.. right?!?!
LINDANACK replied to djsacco's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Your hair is falling out because you are not getting enough protein. 60-80% of your daily intake should be in protein. Go to GNC and buy a 12 pack of their protein shake and drink that all day long. If you drink 2 bottles a day you will still lose weight plus your hair will stop falling out. It will also relieve some of your tummy problems. When you're ready, I'll show you how to mix powder protein with all your nasty vitamins and protonics and still win. GNC has a protein shake that was made for us bariatric pts. It's very high in protein and only 4 sugars. That's outstanding, you can't get better, and it tastes really good. Especially the chocolate. Lost weight all the while I was on it. As soon as I tried eating food, everything stopped. For some reason some of us are not doing well with food. It's been 3.5 mo. for me and I still can't tolerate food. I've got a call in to my dietician, I'm hop -
Everything tastes salty and bumps on my tongue
LINDANACK replied to shuckybucky's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Lunch meats very high in sodium, so is cheese. I never eat it for that reason. Cut back on salt intake, you need to anyway or you'll get water logged. -
Need calcium and protein? I hate the calcium chewables ..ugh
LINDANACK replied to dat_sweetmami's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I used the Bariatric powder we were forced to buy from my doctors link. I'm sure you can get a very good powder from the GNC store. I drank their liquid protein for over a month. It had a high protein content and only 4 sugars, and tasted very good, but I now am back on the powder rec. by my doctor. Ask the clerk for a high protein value in your powder. 60-80% of your daily intake should be of protein or you will start losing your hair. You can put your chewable calcium in the blender too. -

LINDANACK replied to shandytx83's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Sorry, we can't give you what you need, WILL POWER. Just stand in front of your mirror and decide what is it you want for that person staring back at you. Do you want a slim and bright future, or do you want that pizza instead and all the fat that will come with it? YOU decide. -
Post surgery questions.
LINDANACK replied to JerseyJoeN's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hi Joe; I have had stomach girggling for 3 and a half months now, and it's painful. I have asked the doctor repeatedly for help and he did put a camera down to my stomach but that revealed something not connected to the constant girggling. After all the checking the doctor came to the conclusion this was all in my head, hence, the reason for coming to this forum. Here we can find others who are having the same problems and hopefully, we will find solutions. I stopped losing after I started eating solid foods. I've gone back to protein shakes, and I'm trying to get back to puree foods. That is the ONLY thing that helps the girggling. I cannot tolerate any food. I've tried every food except lettuce, Nothing feels good on my stomach. Frankly, I'm afraid of the future, no food enjoyment, and no weight loss, and food has become untantillizing, not a good prognoses. I'm in the process of getting my insurance to find me some relief and soon. This is not fun anymore. -
Need calcium and protein? I hate the calcium chewables ..ugh
LINDANACK replied to dat_sweetmami's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hi again! I have some wisdom to impart with you that will help you with your dilemma. I stopped the protein shakes in my 3rd week because it smelled so discusting. Weeks later I knew I had to go back on them so I experimented and found a new way of drinking them that tastes delicious. I have chocolate powder, but this will work for vanilla and strawberry too I imagine. I put 1 scoop of powder, 8 oz. water 2 big strawberries, my probiotic, and 1 tea. of organic cocoa and blend that up. You get your protein, your fruit, and cocoa staves off hunger for sugar, You can even throw in other stuff you can't stand taking, like vitamins, for it will hide the flavor and help the gag reflexes. I take it every morning and no gagging, it's really good. You can get your doctor to right a perscription for calcium, or buy them yourself. I take them every 3-4 days. You don't need to take them everyday. Hope you find this useful. -
To be perfectly honest with you, we are all struggling, or at least the majority of us , are. This is not easy for any of us. I am where you are. I pray hard everyday that I can lick this, There is no magic bullet. It takes WILL POWER. Do you have it? Can you develope it? Start today.

Can you believe the audacity of some doctors. I can't believe, yes, I can believe the hubris of some doctors. Please keep us informed as to the stages and changes you go through and experience. I am curious and concerned for you.

Three Month Check In
LINDANACK replied to DaveVanCamp1999's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Go Gator Dave! I'm routing for you. -
I really hate to depress you any further but it does not get any easier. We were all lead to believe that surgery would dispense with the Grehlin that causes hunger. Well, they lied. We are no different except to say, when we eat too much, or eat too fast, we hurt now. Sort of like having a safety measure so we don't over indulge. But we are all pro's here, we can get around that too if we really want to. The real deal is, we are the same, our desires are not changed or deminished. We just have a chance here to cut down and hopefully learn how to eat smart so we can take off the weight. My advice to newcomers, don't eat until you're starving. The longer you do not introduce food to your new stomach, the better it will be on you. You'll lose a much greater amount. This is a truly difficult struggle and only the strong will survive. Be strong.
